Abstract
Although organometallic porous polymer networks are recognized as promising heterogeneous catalysts, the relationship between ligand/monomer geometry and network parameters is usually not well understood due to the lack of atom-resolved characterization methods for the amorphous network matrix. In this work, a series of copper(II) salen-type metal complexes was synthesized, using trans- and cis-1,2-diaminocyclohexane segments, and thoroughly characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and solution- and solid-state NMR spectroscopy. Terminal ethynyl groups of the complexes were then transformed into polyacetylene chains by coordination chain-growth homopolymerization, resulting in highly porous (458-655 m2 g-1) organometallic polymer networks with a copper(II) ion content of about 12 wt%. The presence of paramagnetic copper(II) moieties in these complexes and respective polymer networks required the application of tailored NMR techniques, which together with X-ray crystallography and DFT calculations of the paramagnetic NMR shifts made it possible to investigate the differences in the complex geometry in liquid, powder and crystalline form and compare it with the complex geometry in polymer networks. All prepared organometallic polymer networks were also tested as heterogeneous catalysts for styrene oxidation with uncommonly high substrate conversions and compared with their low-molecular-weight analogues. The high reusability of such heterogeneous polymer-based catalysts was also proven.

Abstract
The development of enantiodivergent catalysts capable of preparing both enantiomeric products from one substrate in a controlled fashion is challenging. Introducing a switching function into the catalyst can address this challenge, allowing the chiral reaction environment to reversibly change during catalysis. Here we report a photoswitchable phosphate ligand, derived from 2,2'-biphenol, which axially coordinates as the counter ion to an achiral manganese(III) salen catalyst, providing the latter with the ability to switch stereoselectivity in the epoxidation of alkenes. The enantiomers of the chiral ligand exist as a pair of pseudo-enantiomers, which can be interconverted by irradiation with light of different wavelengths. The opposite axial chirality of these pseudo-enantiomers is efficiently transferred to the manganese(III) salen catalyst. With this switchable supramolecular catalyst, the enantioselectivity of the epoxidation of a variety of alkenes can be controlled, resulting in opposite enantiomeric excesses of the epoxide products. This transfer of chirality from a photoswitchable anionic ligand to a metal complex broadens the scope of supramolecular catalysts.

Abstract
Bisimine derivatives of salicylaldehyde with chiral diamines (salens) are privileged ligands in asymmetric organometallic catalysis, which can be used in cooperation with organocatalysts as additives. The latter can be a modifier of the metal reactivity by liganding or a true co-catalyst working in tandem or in a dual system. All scenarios encountered in the literature are reviewed and classified according to the organocatalyst. In each case, mechanistic and physical-organic chemistry considerations are discussed to better understand the gears of these complex catalytic settings.

Abstract
A novel type of chiral redox disulfonate iron complex for asymmetric catalysis is reported. The [Fe((Ra)-BINSate)]+ (BINSate = 1,1'-binaphthalene-2,2'-disulfonate) complex effectively promotes the enantioselective oxidative cross-coupling between 2-naphthols (1) and 2-aminonaphthalene derivatives (2), affording optically enriched (Ra)-2-amino-2'-hydroxy-1,1'-binaphthyls (NOBINs) with exceptional yields and enantioselective ratios (up to 99% yield and 96:4 er). The [Fe((Ra)-BINSate)]+ catalyst was designed as a chiral version of FeCl3 with multicoordination sites available for binding the two coupling partners 1 and 2 as well as the oxidant. Our structure-selectivity and activity study, which covered most of the important positions in the NOBIN scaffold, revealed the effect of different substitution patterns on the coupling efficiency and stereoselectivity.

Abstract
N-Triflylphosphoramides (NTPA), have become increasingly popular catalysts in the development of enantioselective transformations as they are stronger Brønsted acids than the corresponding phosphoric acids (PA). Their highly acidic, asymmetric active site can activate difficult, unreactive substrates. In this review, we present an account of asymmetric transformations using this type of catalyst that have been reported in the past ten years and we classify these reactions using the enantio-determining step as the key criterion. This compendium of NTPA-catalysed reactions is organised into the following categories: (1) cycloadditions, (2) electrocyclisations, polyene and related cyclisations, (3) addition reactions to imines, (4) electrophilic aromatic substitutions, (5) addition reactions to carbocations, (6) aldol and related reactions, (7) addition reactions to double bonds, and (8) rearrangements and desymmetrisations. We highlight the use of NTPA in total synthesis and suggest mnemonics which account for their enantioselectivity.

Abstract
Chiral sulfinyl compounds, sulfoxides, sulfoximines, sulfinamides, and other derivatives, play an important role in asymmetric synthesis as versatile auxiliaries, ligands, and catalysts. They are also recognized as pharmacophores found in already marketed and well-sold drugs (e.g., esomeprazole) and used in drug design. This review is devoted to the modern methods of preparation of sulfinyl derivatives in enantiopure or enantiomerically enriched form. Selected new approaches leading to racemic products for which the asymmetric variant can be developed in the future are mentioned as well.

Abstract
Work on the synthesis of a polymeric photosensitizer and its application in the photooxidation of thioethers is reported herein. Firstly, the polymeric photosensitizer was designed and synthesized by the reaction of anthraquinone-2-carbonyl chloride (AQ-2-COCl) with poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA). Then, the visible light-induced photooxidation of thioethers under aerobic conditions was investigated. The results revealed that the reaction yielded sulfoxides highly chemoselectively in excellent yields with good substrate tolerance. Importantly, AQ-PHEMA could be easily recovered and reused more than 20 times without significant loss of the catalytic activity. Work on the synthesis of a polymeric photosensitizer and its application in the photooxidation of thioethers is reported herein.![]()

Abstract
Since the pioneering independent reports of Akiyama and Terada, the use of chiral phosphoric acids (CPAs) and derivatives as a versatile tool for asymmetric synthesis with good reactivity, regioselectivity, diastereoselectivity and enantioselectivity has emerged, forming an important part of the implementation of asymmetric counteranion-directed catalysis reported to date. In these achievements, the combination of metals with CPAs has enabled various catalytic modes beyond the scope of typical acid catalysis, such as relay catalysis, ion-pairing catalysis, and binary acid catalysis. The first-row transition metals (Sc-Zn) are considered to be sustainable transition metals and have received a great deal of attention. These naturally abundant metals display excellent Lewis acidity and function as powerful redox catalysts in synthesis involving both one and two-electron transfers. Hence, in this chapter, we summarize recent advances in the development of asymmetric reactions using a combination of first-row transition metals and CPAs. Furthermore, we provide a detailed discussion of the mechanisms involved in order to understand the interaction of the metal/phosphate and the origins of the asymmetric control of the transformations.

Abstract
Chiral salen-metal complexes are among the most versatile asymmetric catalysts and have found utility in fields ranging from materials chemistry to organic synthesis. These complexes are capable of inducing chirality in products formed from a wide variety of chemical processes, often with close to perfect stereoinduction. Salen ligands are tunable for steric as well as electronic properties, and their ability to coordinate a large number of metals gives the derived chiral salen-metal complex very broad utility in asymmetric catalysis. This review primarily summarizes developments in chiral salen-metal catalysis over the last two decades with particular emphasis on those applications of importance in asymmetric synthesis.

Abstract
Stable carbocations such as tritylium ions have been widely explored as organic Lewis acid catalysts and reagents in organic synthesis. However, achieving asymmetric carbocation catalysis remains elusive ever since they were first identified over one century ago. The challenges mainly come from their limited compatibility, scarcity of chiral carbocations, as well as the extremely low barrier to racemization of chiral carbenium ions. We reported here a latent concept for asymmetric carbocation catalysis. In this strategy, chiral trityl phosphate is employed as the carbocation precursor, which undergoes facile ionic dissociation upon mild external stimulation (e.g., acid, H-bonding, polar substrates) to form a catalytically active chiral ion pair for substrate activation and chiral induction. The latent strategy provides a solution for the long sought-after asymmetric carbocation catalysis as illustrated in three different enantioselective transformations.

Abstract
The ruthenium catalyst generated in situ from H(2)Ru(CO)(PPh(3))(3), (S)-SEGPHOS, and a TADDOL-derived phosphoric acid promotes butadiene hydrohydroxyalkylation to form enantiomerically enriched products. Notably, the observed diastereo- and enantioselectivity is the opposite of that observed using BINOL-derived phosphate counterions in combination with (S)-SEGPHOS, the same enantiomer of the chiral ligand. Match/mismatch effects between the chiral ligand and the chiral TADDOL-phosphate counterion are described. For the first time, single-crystal X-ray diffraction data for a ruthenium complex modified by a chiral phosphate counterion are reported.
