Abstract
A simple and atom-economical one-step protocol is described for the synthesis of biologically valuable 3-isoquinuclidones. The method proceeds from the simple starting materials, α-acyl N-arylcinnamamides, and can be performed under mild conditions in the presence of tBuOK. The key steps of this process are the double Michael addition reaction of a Nazarov-like reagent and the subsequent intramolecular hemiamination. These flexible intermolecular reactions could be performed on a gram scale.

Abstract
We report a metal-, acid-, and base-free 2-(bromomethyl)naphthalene (2-BMN)-promoted organocatalytic Cloke-Wilson rearrangement of chain doubly activated cyclopropanes for the construction of 2,3-dihydrofurans via a carbocation-initiated tandem intramolecular ring-opening/recyclization process. The strategy is especially suitable for the construction of furan units in complex molecules, providing a solution to the problem of heavy-metal residues in dihydrofuran-containing drugs synthesized by traditional metal-based protocols. Thus, it is of potential interest in synthetic and medicinal chemistry.

Abstract
Pyrroles are the most prevalent heterocyclic compounds, which are present as the basic cores in
many natural products, such as vitamin B12, bile pigments like bilirubin and biliverdin, the porphyrins of
heme, chlorophyll, chlorins, bacteriochlorins, and porphyrinogens. The biological activities of compounds
having pyrrole analogs include antimicrobial (antibacterial, antifungal), anti-cancer (anti-cytotoxic, antimitotic),
anti-tumor, anti-hyperlipidemic, anti-depressant, anti-inflammatory, antihyperglycemic, antiproliferative,
anti-HIV and anti-viral activities. Accordingly, significant attention has been paid to develop competent
methods for the synthesis of pyrroles with improved yields in short times. This review gives an overview of
different methods for the synthesis of pyrrole using easily available precursors using the following routes.
Synthesis of monosubstituted pyrrole using 2,5-dimethoxyfuran
Synthesis of pyrrole using dialkylacetylene dicarboxylate
Synthesis of pyrroles using β-ketoester
Synthesis of pyrrole using 1,2-dicarbonyl compounds
Synthesis of pyrroles using 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds
Synthesis of pyrroles using 1,3-dicarbonyl, amine, nitro and aldehyde group
Synthesis of pyrroles using 1,4-dicarbonyl compound and amines
Synthesis of pyrrole using enones
Synthesis of pyrroles using moieties having acetylene group

Abstract
Diactivated cyclopropanes containing two geminal electron withdrawing
groups, commonly called as ‘Doubly Activated Cyclopropanes’ are useful synthons for
the synthesis of many interesting natural products and functionalized molecules. These
geminal electron withdrawing groups (EWG’s) facilitate the regioselective ring opening of
cyclopropanes by polarizing the C-C bond adjacent to it. This polarization also allows
them to undergo 1,3 dipolar cycloaddition reactions when substituted with a suitable electron
donor substituent at the adjacent carbon (donor-acceptor cyclopropanes) in the presence
of suitable dipolarophiles. In this review, we discuss the recent advances in the
chemistry of doubly activated cyclopropanes: their synthesis, reactions and applications in
total synthesis.

Abstract
An efficient tandem intermolecular one-pot aldol condensation/aza-addition reaction of 2-methyl-3-carbamoylpyrroles and aldehydes was developed for the synthesis of 2,3,6,7-tetrahydro-1H-pyrrolo[3,2-c]pyridin-4(5H)-ones. The reaction proceeded using only 3.0 equiv of ammonium acetate promoter in green solvent poly(ethylene glycol)-400 at 100 °C to afford a series of pyrrolo[3,2-c]pyridinone derivatives in good to excellent yields.
