Abstract
Radical reactions are powerful in the synthesis of diverse molecular scaffolds bearing functional groups. In previous review articles, we have presented 1,2-difunctionalizations, remote 1,3-, 1,4-, 1,5-, 1,6- and 1,7-difunctionalizations, and addition followed by cyclization reactions. Presented in this paper is radical cyclization followed by the second functionalization reaction. The second functionalization could be realized by atom transfer reactions, radical or transition metal-assisted coupling reactions, and reactions with neutral molecules, cationic and anionic species.

Abstract
Ferrier rearrangement on glycals is an efficient tool to form 2,3-dideoxy glycosides that provide access to various sugar derivatives through olefin functionalization. The classical acid-mediated transformation delivers the α-O-glycosides selectively. In this protocol, amides obtained from amino acids, glycine and proline, have been utilized as sustainable β-directing leaving groups on glycal substrates. The directing groups facilitate β-selective Ferrier rearrangements for hard alcohol nucleophiles by following the Pd(0)-catalyzed Tsuji-Trost inner sphere pathway.

Abstract
Single crystal X-ray and NMR investigations on multidomain structured N-(4,6-di-O-acetyl-2,3-dideoxy-α-D-threo-hex-2-en-2-iodo-pyranosyl)-methylsulfonamide are reported. This is the first crystallographic diffraction data report related to a 2-halo-2,3-unsaturated galactoside derivative. A complete structural study, including conformations and crystal packing, was performed by analyzing the spectroscopic data in solid state (XRD) and in solution (NMR).

Abstract
Glycals, 1,2-unsaturated sugar derivatives, are versatile starting materials for the synthesis of natural products and the generation of novel structural features in Diversity Oriented Synthesis (DOS). The versatility of glycals in synthesis emanates, among others, from the presence of the ring oxygen and the enol-ether type unsaturation, the different types of stable conformations they can adopt depending on the nature of the protecting groups present and the ease with which the protecting groups of the three hydroxy groups could be tailored to suite for a desired manipulation. This review summarizes the literature on the different transformations of the endo glycals into biologically relevant compounds such as chromans, thiochromans, chromenes, thiochromenes, peptidomimetics, bridged benzopyrans etc., as well as on the use of glycals as chiral building blocks for the synthesis of various natural products such as aspicilin, reblastatin, diospongins, decytospolides, osmundalactones, paclitaxel, isatisine, d-fagomine, and spliceostatin, reported post 2014.
