Abstract
Ynamides are N-alkyne compounds bearing an electron withdrawing group at the nitrogen atom. They offer unique pathways for the construction of versatile building blocks owing to their exceptional balance between reactivity and stability. Recently several studies have been reported that explore and illustrate the synthetic potential of ynamides and ynamide-derived advanced intermediates in cycloadditions with different reaction partners to yield heterocyclic cycloadducts of synthetic and pharmaceutical value. Cycloaddition reactions of ynamides are the facile and preferable routes for the construction of structural motifs having striking importance in synthetic, medicinal chemistry, and advanced materials. In this systematic review, we highlighted the recently reported novel transformations and synthetic applications that involved the cycloaddition reaction of ynamides. The scope along with the limitations of the transformations are discussed in detail. Abstract
An electrochemical-oxidation-induced intramolecular annulation used for the synthesis of imidazole was developed under undivided electrolytic conditions. In an undivided cell, amines, alkynes and azides could smoothly participate in the transformation to furnish a variety of substituted imidazoles through the tandem Michael addition/azide/cycloamine reaction. The reaction could be easily handled and avoided the use of both transition metal catalysts and peroxide reagents, which is in line with the concept of green chemistry.

Abstract
The combination of a nucleophilic nitrene equivalent, a triple bond and a π-acid catalyst has underpinned numerous efficient transformations for the preparation of azacycles. This personal account details our efforts in developing an annulation strategy. Adding a nucleophilic nitrenoid to an activated alkyne can generate carbenoid character that is then quenched by a cyclisation onto the nitrenoid substituent. The use and development of N-acyl and N-heterocyclic pyridinium-N-aminides as 1,3-N,O and 1,3-N,N-dipole equivalents is discussed in the context of oxazole and heterocycle-fused imidazole formation, respectively. The resulting processes are highly efficient, practically straightforward, and tolerate considerable structural and functional group variation. Our use of heteroatom-substituted alkynes as enabling tools for reaction discovery is discussed. The reactivity accessed from the strong donor-like properties of ynamides is complemented by that obtained from alkynyl thioethers, which are emerging as interesting substrates for π-acid catalysis.

Abstract
An electrochemical method for synthesizing 1,2,4,5-tetrasubstituted imidazoles was developed under undivided electrolytic conditions. This synthesis was specifically realized based on electrochemical C(sp3)-H amination via enamines and amines. Readily available starting materials were used, avoiding the use of both transition metals and oxidants. The practicability of the method lies in its broad substrate adaptability and in its ability to provide a simple green pathway for synthesizing GABAA receptor analogs.

Abstract
Ynamides are unique alkynes with a carbon-carbon triple bond directly attached to the nitrogen atom bearing an electron-withdrawing group. The alkyne is strongly polarized by the electron-donating nitrogen atom, but its high reactivity can be finely tempered by the electron-withdrawing group. Accordingly, ynamides are endowed with both nucleophilic and electrophilic properties and their chemistry has been an active research field. The catalytic intermolecular annulations of ynamides, featuring divergent assembly of structurally important amino-heterocycles in a regioselective manner, have gained much attention over the past decade. This review aims to provide a comprehensive summary of the advances achieved in this area involving transition metal and acid catalysis. Moreover, the intermolecular annulations of ynamide analogs including ynol ethers and thioalkynes are also discussed, which can provide insights into the reactivity difference caused by the heteroatoms.

Abstract
Catalytic transformations involving metal carbenes are considered one of the most important aspects of homogeneous transition metal catalysis. Recently, gold-catalyzed generation of gold carbenes from readily available alkynes represents a significant advance in metal carbene chemistry. This Review summarizes the advances in the gold-catalyzed nitrene-transfer reactions of alkynes with nitrogen-transfer reagents, such as azides, nitrogen ylides, isoxazoles, and anthranils, and gold-catalyzed carbene-transfer reactions, involving oxygen atom-transfer reactions of alkynes with nitro compounds, nitrones, sulfoxides, and pyridine N-oxides, through the presumable α-imino gold carbene and α-oxo gold carbene intermediates, respectively. Gold-catalyzed processes are reviewed by highlighting their product diversity, selectivity, and applicability, and the mechanistic rationale is presented where possible.

Abstract
A hypervalent iodane reagent used for the intramolecular cyclization of N-acetyl enamines and intermolecular cyclocondensation of enamines and nitriles was investigated. The reaction was performed under mild conditions and gave oxazoles and imidazoles, respectively, in moderate to excellent yields. This transformation exhibits good reactivity, selectivity and functional group tolerance. The selectivity of the intra- or intermolecular reaction is dependent on the structure of N-acetyl enamines.

Abstract
Two efficient transition-metal-free highly regioselective pathways for constructing sulfonylated imidazoles via three-component reactions of amidines, ynals, and sodium sulfonates have been developed. The generations of different sulfonylated imidazoles were simply controlled by additives. In addition, this method features environmental friendliness, good functional group tolerance, and high atom economy, which makes it practical.

Abstract
Heteroatom-substituted alkynes have attracted a significant amount of interest in the synthetic community due to the polarized nature of these alkynes and their utility in a wide range of reactions. One specific class of heteroatom-substituted alkynes combines this utility with the presence of an azole moiety. These N-alkynyl azoles have been known for nearly 50 years, but recently there has been a tremendous increase in the number of reports detailing the synthesis and utility of this class of compound. While much of the chemistry of N-alkynyl azoles mirrors that of the more extensively studied N-alkynyl amides (ynamides), there are notable exceptions. In addition, as azoles are extremely common in natural products and pharmaceuticals, these N-alkynyl azoles have high potential for accessing biologically important compounds. In this review, the literature reports of N-alkynyl azole synthesis, reactions, and uses have been assembled. Collectively, these reports demonstrate the growth in this area and the promise of exploiting N-alkynyl azoles in synthesis.
