Abstract
A PdII -catalyzed, domino enantioselective desymmetrizative coupling of 7-azabenzonorbornadienes with alkynylanilines is disclosed herein. This operationally simple transformation generates three covalent bonds and two contiguous stereocenters with excellent enantio- and diastereo-selectivity. The resulting functionalized indole-dihydronaphthalene-amine conjugates served as an appealing platform to streamline the diversity-oriented synthesis (DOS) of other valuable enantioenriched compounds. DFT calculations revealed that the two stabilizing non-covalent interactions contributed to the observed enantioselectivity.

Abstract
Different reaction selectivity occurs with the Lewis acids B-chlorocatecholborane (ClBcat), B-bromocatecholborane (BrBcat), and BBr3, favoring either alkyne haloboration, electrophilic cyclization of a tethered nucleophilic sulfur onto the alkyne, or group transfer of the nucleophile. This reaction selectivity also depends on the chain length of the tethered nucleophile, revealing a subtle interplay of relative kinetics and thermodynamics. In all cases, BBr3 reacts readily with alkynes to form haloborated products; however, this process is reversible, and this reversibility can be harnessed to ultimately access regio- and stereodefined cyclic sulfonium zwitterions via the slower but thermodynamically favored electrophilic cyclization pathway. Reversibility was noted by following the reaction by NMR spectroscopy, and by characterizing the kinetic and thermodynamic products by a combination of 2D NMR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The "mixed" reagent bromocatechol borane (BrBcat) displayed reactivity between ClBcat and BBr3, producing bromoboration in some cases and electrophilic cyclization in others. With this enhanced understanding of the reaction dynamics, it becomes possible to use boron Lewis acids in a predictable manner in cases where haloboration is the kinetic product but in which the reversibility of this reaction maintains access to eventual alternative reactivity leading to desired building blocks in organic synthesis.

Abstract
Aminoboronic acid derivatives can serve as versatile synthetic intermediates and pharmacophores but remain difficult to synthesize. Herein we report a synthesis of the β-aminoboronic acid motif via anti-Markovnikov hydroamination of vinylboronates. This reaction benefits from the activating effect of the boronate substituent and forms novel BON-containing heterocycles, oxazaborolidine zwitterions. A computational study is included to help determine the effects of alkene boron substitution. Derivatization reactions also support the synthetic utility of the oxazaborolidine adducts.

Abstract
Heteroaryl boronic acids and esters are extremely important and valuable intermediates because of their wide application in the synthesis of marketed drugs and bioactive compounds. Over the last couple of decades, the construction of highly important heteroaryl carbon-boron bonds has created huge attention. The transition-metal-free protocols are more green, less sensitive to air and moisture, and also economically advantageous over the transition-metal-based protocols. The transition-metal-free C-H borylation of heteroarenes and C-X (X=halogen) borylation of heteroaryl halides represents an excellent approach for their synthesis. Also, various cyclization and alkyne activation protocols have been recently established for their synthesis. The goal of this review article is to summarize the existing literature and the current state of the art for transition-metal-free synthesis of heteroaryl boronic acid and esters.

Abstract
![]()
Reaction of BCl3 with suitably substituted o-alkynylanilines promotes a cascade reaction in which BN-polycyclic
compounds are obtained via the formation of two new cycles and three
new bonds in a single operational step. The reaction is highly efficient
and takes place at room temperature, providing a very mild and straightforward
strategy for the preparation of BN-aromatic compounds, which can be
further transformed into a variety of BN-PAHs with different polycyclic
cores and substituents.

Abstract
Metal‐free borylative cyclization of biphenyl‐embedded 1,3,5‐trien‐7‐ynes in the presence of simple and inexpensive BCl3 provided synthetically useful borylated building blocks. The outcome of the process depends on the reaction temperature, with borylated phenanthrenes obtained at 60 °C and phenanthrene‐fused borylated cyclobutanes formed at 0 °C. Based on DFT calculations, a mechanism for these novel transformations has been proposed, which involves an uncommon skeletal rearrangement, including migration of a methyl group and alkyne fragmentation, unprecedented in BCl3‐promoted cyclization reactions.

Abstract
An unprecedented and general hydroboration of alkenes with BX3 (X=Br, Cl) as the boration reagent in the presence of i Pr2 NEt is reported. The addition of i Pr2 NEt not only suppresses alkene polymerization and haloboration side reactions but also provides an "H" source for hydroboration. More importantly, the site-fixed installation of a boryl group at the original position of the internal double bond is readily achieved in contrast to conventional transition-metal-catalyzed hydroboration processes. Further application to the synthesis of 1,n-diborylalkanes (n=3-10) is also demonstrated. Preliminary mechanistic studies reveal a major reaction pathway that involves radical species and operates through a frustrated Lewis pair type single-electron-transfer mechanism.

Abstract
In contrast to previously reported borylative heterocyclization methods, a reaction here proceeds without air-free techniques to access synthetically useful borylated thiophenes, benzothiophenes, and isocoumarins. A comparison of stability/decomposition rates in air of several catecholboronic ester (Bcat) compounds derived from different heterocycle cores showed a strong dependence on the heterocycle structure. Lessons learned from this comparison were then harnessed for the development of borylative heterocyclization reactions under ambient-atmosphere conditions and with wet solvent. In contrast to literature reports suggesting general moisture sensitivity, a subset of Bcat products resulting from this technique were chromatography-stable and directly isolable, obviating the requirement for an extra synthetic transformation into more stable boron species, such as pinacolboronic esters (Bpin), for isolation. The isolated Bcat products were amenable to various downstream functionalization reactions, including reactions that were not accessible with their better-known Bpin counterparts, showing the complementarity of Bcat reaction partners and expanding their known chemistry. These results suggest the value of conceptual revisitation of substitution and solvent influence on stability and isolability of organo-Bcat compound classes and lay the groundwork for development of additional practical borylative methods in air.

Abstract
Indole derivatives are associated with a variety of both biological activities and applications in the field of material chemistry. A number of different strategies for synthesizing substituted indoles by means of the reactions of indolylboronic acids with electrophilic compounds are considered the methods of choice for modifying indoles because indolylboronic acids are easily available, stable, non-toxic and new reactions using indolylboronic acids have been described in the literature. Thus, the aim of this review is to summarize the methods available for the preparation of indolylboronic acids as well as their chemical transformations. The review covers the period 2010-2019.

Abstract
Products from the borylative cyclisation of diynes using BCl3 is dependent on substituent effects, however, some control of product outcome is achieved using borocations or BCl3 in the presence of [BCl4]−.
