Palladium‐Catalyzed Regio‐ and Stereoselective Sulfonylation of Aryl Propiolates with Sulfonyl Hydrazides: Access to ( E )‐ β ‐Aryl Sulfonyl Acrylates

Divergent Reaction of Alkynes and TsCN: Synthesis of β-Sulfinyl Alkenylsulfones and (E)-Vinyl Sulfones

An efficient and high-selectivity approach for the divergent synthesis of β-sulfinyl alkenylsulfones and (E)-vinyl sulfones from alkynes and TsCN is described. A series of disulfurized products were constructed under mild conditions in the absence of transition metals. This transformation featured excellent regio- and stereoselectivity, good functional group compatibility, and broad substrate scope. The copper(I)-catalyzed sulfonation of alkynes with TsCN that affords (E)-vinyl sulfones in good to excellent yields was also developed.

Dehydroxylative Sulfonylation of Alcohols

Described here is the R₃P/ICH₂CH₂I-promoted dehydroxylative sulfonylation of alcohols with a variety of sulfinates. In contrast to previous dehydroxylative sulfonylation methods, which are usually limited to active alcohols, such as benzyl, allyl, and propargyl alcohols, our protocol can be extended to both active and inactive alcohols (alkyl alcohols). Various sulfonyl groups can be incorporated, such as CF₃SO₂ and HCF₂SO₂, which are fluorinated groups of interest in pharmaceutical chemistry and the installation of which has received increasing attention. Notably, all reagents are cheap and widely available, and moderate to high yields were obtained within 15 min of reaction time.

Copper-Catalyzed Regio- and Stereoselective Sulfonylation of Alkynyl Imines with Sulfonyl Hydrazides: Access to (E)-β-Sulfonyl Enones

A copper-catalyzed sulfonylation of alkynyl imines with sulfonyl hydrazides has been developed, which exhibited excellent regio- and stereoselectivity and furnished a series of (E)-β-sulfonyl enones in moderate to good yields. Mechanistic studies suggest that this strategy goes through a radical process.
