Abstract
Iodine-containing molecules, especially hypervalent iodine compounds, have gained significant attention in organic synthesis. They are valuable and sustainable reagents, leading to a remarkable surge in their use for chemical transformations. One such hypervalent iodine compound, phenyliodine bis(trifluoroacetate)/bis(trifluoroacetoxy)iodobenzene, commonly referred to as PIFA, has emerged as a prominent candidate due to its attributes of facile manipulation, moderate reactivity, low toxicity, and ready availability. PIFA presents an auspicious prospect as a substitute for costly organometallic catalysts and environmentally hazardous oxidants containing heavy metals. PIFA exhibits remarkable catalytic activity, facilitating an array of consequential organic reactions, including sulfenylation, alkylarylation, oxidative coupling, cascade reactions, amination, amidation, ring-rearrangement, carboxylation, and numerous others. Over the past decade, the application of PIFA in synthetic chemistry has witnessed substantial growth, necessitating an updated exploration of this field. In this discourse, we present a concise overview of PIFA's applications as a 'green' reagent in the domain of synthetic organic chemistry. A primary objective of this article is to bring to the forefront the scientific community's awareness of the merits associated with adopting PIFA as an environmentally conscientious alternative to heavy metals.

Abstract
A sulfoxide directed C-H metalation/boration/B2Pin2 mediated reduction/Suzuki coupling process to synthesize 4-substituted dibenzothiophene (DBT) in one-pot from dibenzothiophene-5-oxide (DBTO) was developed. A variety of DBT-based heterobiaryls were prepared in satisfactory to good yields. A mechanism was proposed. The application of this methodology was demonstrated by synthesizing a luminescent material.

Abstract
A benign approach to valuable 3-aryl-indolin-2-ones was developed based on palladium(II)/Lewis acid-cocatalyzed cyclocarbonylation of readily available (2-aminoaryl)(aryl)methanols. The protocol features producing water as the only byproduct, mild reaction conditions, and good efficiency, constituting an array of 3-arylindolin-2-ones in yields of 35 to 90%. The reaction can be easily scaled up to the gram scale in good yields.

Abstract
Sulfuryl chlorofluoride was first employed as a versatile reagent for controllable chlorination and chlorooxidation of simple unprotected indoles. Three types of products including 3-chloro-indoles, 3-chloro-2-oxindoles, and 3,3-dichloro-2-oxindoles could be selectively obtained in good to excellent yields by switching the reaction solvents. The present method features easy-to-operate, broad substrate scope, and mild reaction conditions.

Abstract
Herein, an efficient and highly functional group-compatible procedure for controllable transformation of indoles by the combination of phenyliodine bis(trifluoroacetate) (PIFA) with n-Bu4NCl·H2O (TBAC) was exploited. Through controlling the amount of PIFA and TBAC from one to three equivalents, 3-chloro-indoles, 3-chloro-2-oxindoles, and 3,3-dichloro-2-oxindoles were obtained, respectively, in satisfactory to excellent yields. The advantages of the protocol include mild conditions, facile process with short reaction time, high yields, satisfactory functional group tolerance, and the use of PIFA, which is an air- and moisture-stable promoter. The mechanism studies showed that the reaction may proceed through a halonium ion species-mediated halogenation-elimination-halogenation stepwise process.

Abstract
A sequential one-pot classical aldol, transition-metal and hydride-free reductive aldol reaction is reported here for C(sp3)- H functionalization of 2-oxindoles using the multifaceted reagent rongalite. Here, rongalite functions as a hydride-free reducing agent and double C1 unit donor. This protocol enables the synthesis of a wide range of 3-methylindoline-2-ones and 3-(hydroxymethyl)-3-methylindolin-2-ones from 2-oxindoles (65-95% yields), which are the synthetic precursors for many natural products. Some of the important aspects of this synthetic approach include one-pot methylation and hydroxymethylation, low-cost rongalite (ca. $0.03 per 1 g), mild reaction conditions and applicability to gram-scale synthesis.
