Abstract
Copper(I)-catalyzed domino reactions of 2-azido sulfoximines with 1-iodoalkynes yield fused triazolyl-containing benzothiadiazine-1-oxides. The protocol features the synthesis of two fused heterocyclic rings in one step with good to excellent yields and a broad functional group tolerance. Detailed mechanistic investigations indicate that a copper π-complex initiates a cycloaddition and oxidative C-N coupling reaction sequence. The results suggest an interrupted domino process involving an iodinated triazole as a key intermediate.

Abstract
We describe here a Ni-catalyzed intermolecular carbo-fluoromethylation of alkynes with aliphatic halides and fluoromethyl halides (BrCF 2 H and ICH 2 F) in the presence of zinc, enabling the facile and selective access to a diverse range of biologically valuable CF 2 H/CH 2 F-incorporated alkenes with excellent regio- and stereo-selectivity. Notably, merging intramolecular radical cyclization with fluoromethyl coupling enables the expedient constructions of CF 2 H/CH 2 F-incorporated lactones and lactams with high efficiency and selectivity. Mechanistic studies disclose that this catalytic protocol proceeds via a radical addition to an alkyne followed by selective coupling with the fluoromethyl unit.

Abstract
Disubstituted 2-pyrones and 2-pyridones were obtained by bifunctional urea-catalyzed Michael addition/lactonization or lactamization followed by a Hg(OAc)2- or Hg(OAc)2/DBU-mediated hydrolysis/decarboxylation/dehydrogenation process. This one-pot two-stage protocol enabled the rapid synthesis of 4,6-disubstituted 2-pyrones and 2-pyridones from dithiomalonate and β,γ-unsaturated α-keto esters in practical yields under mild reaction conditions. Additionally, the obtained 2-pyridones were facilely transformed to 2,4,6-trisubstituted pyridines in excellent yields.

Abstract
During the past several years, the frequency of discovery of new molecular entities based on γ- or δ-lactam scaffolds has increased continuously. Most of them are characterized by the presence of at least one chiral center. Herein, we present the preparation, isolation and the absolute configuration assignment of enantiomeric 2-(4-bromophenyl)-1-isobutyl-6-oxopiperidin-3-carboxylic acid (trans-1). For the preparation of racemic trans-1, the Castagnoli-Cushman reaction was employed. (Semi)-preparative enantioselective HPLC allowed to obtain enantiomerically pure trans-1 whose absolute configuration was assigned by X-ray diffractometry. Compound (+)-(2R,3R)-1 represents a reference compound for the configurational study of structurally related lactams.
