Abstract
We report a combined experimental and theoretical study on the first examples of carbodicarbene (CDC)-stabilized bismuth complexes, which feature low-coordinate cationic bismuth centers with C=Bi multiple-bond character. Monocations [(CDC)Bi(Ph)Cl][SbF6 ] (8) and [(CDC)BiBr2 (THF)2 ][SbF6 ] (11), dications [(CDC)Bi(Ph)][SbF6 ]2 (9) and [(CDC)BiBr(THF)3 ][NTf2 ]2 (12), and trication [(CDC)2 Bi][NTf2 ]3 (13) have been synthesized via sequential halide abstractions from (CDC)Bi(Ph)Cl2 (7) and (CDC)BiBr3 (10). Notably, the dications and trication exhibit C ⇉ Bi double dative bonds and thus represent unprecedented bismaalkene cations. The synthesis of these species highlights a unique non-reductive route to C-Bi π-bonding character. The CDC-[Bi] complexes (7-13) were compared with related NHC-[Bi] complexes (1, 3-6) and show substantially different structural properties. Indeed, the CDC ligand has a remarkable influence on the overall stability of the resulting low-coordinate Bi complexes, suggesting that CDC is a superior ligand to NHC in heavy pnictogen chemistry.

Abstract
Oxidative addition of cyclic alkyl(amino)carbene-coordinated phosphinidenes (Me cAAC)PX to LGa affords gallium-coordinated phosphinidenes LGa(X)-P(Me cAAC) (L=HC[C(Me)N(2,6-i-Pr2 C6 H3 )]2 ; X=Cl 1, Br 2), which react with NaBArF 4 and LiAl(ORF )4 to [LGaP(Me cAAC)][An] (An=B(C6 H3 (CF3 )2 )4 3, B(C6 F5 )4 4, Al(OC(CF3 )3 )4 5). The cations in 3-5 show substantial Ga-P double bond character and represent heteronuclear analogues of allyl cations according to quantum chemical calculations. The reaction of 4 with 4-dimethylaminopyridine (dmap) to adduct 6 confirms the strong electrophilic nature of the gallium center, whereas 5 reacts with ethyl isocyanate with C-C bond formation to the γ-C atom of the β-diketiminate ligand and formation of compound 7.

Abstract
3H‐Phosphaallenes, R−P=C=C(H)C−R’ (3), are accessible in a multigram scale on a new and facile route and show a fascinating chemical reactivity. BH3(SMe2) and 3 a (R=Mes*, R’=tBu) afforded by hydroboration of the C=C bonds of two phosphaallene molecules an unprecedented borane (7) with the B atom bound to two P=C double bonds. This compound represents a new FLP based on a B and two P atoms. The increased Lewis acidity of the B atom led to a different reaction course upon treatment of 3 a with H2B‐C6F5(SMe2). Hydroboration of a C=C bond of a first phosphaallene is followed in a typical FLP reaction by the coordination of a second phosphaallene molecule via B−C and P−B bond formation to yield a BP2C2 heterocycle (8). Its B−P bond is short and the B‐bound P atom has a planar surrounding. Treatment of 3 a with tBuLi resulted in deprotonation of the β‐C atom of the phosphaallene (9). The Li atom is bound to the P atom as demonstrated by crystal structure determination, quantum chemical calculations and reactions with HCl, Cl‐SiMe3 or Cl‐PtBu2. The thermally unstable phosphaallene Ph−P=C=C(H)‐tBu gave a unique trimeric secondary product by P−P, P−C and C−C bond formation. It contains a P2C4 heterocycle and was isolated as a W(CO)4 complex with two P atoms coordinated to W (15).

Abstract
The four-coordinate Pt0 complex [Pt(PPh3 )(Eind2 -BPEP)] (Eind=1,1,3,3,5,5,7,7-octaethyl-1,2,3,5,6,7-hexahydro-s-indacen-4-yl; BPEP=2,6-bis(1-phenyl-2-phosphaethenyl)pyridine), which bears a PNP-pincer-type phosphaalkene ligand (Eind2 -BPEP; PNP=N,N-bis(diphenylphosphine)-2,6-diaminopyridine), were found to adopt a square-planar configuration around the Pt center (τ4 =0.11). This coordination geometry is very uncommon for formal d10 complexes. In this study, a series of ligands with different electronic properties (i.e., DMAP, 2,6-lutidine, PMe3 , tBuNC, and CO) were introduced in place of PPh3 , and their effects on the coordination geometry were examined. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that all complexes adopted a square-planar configuration (τ4 =0.20-0.27). In contrast, DFT calculations indicated that the geometrical stability towards distortion around Pt varied with the ligand. The complexes with pyridine-based ligands had rigid planar structures, whereas those with π-accepting ligands, such as CO, were relatively flexible towards distortion. The electronic effects of the ligands were reflected in the spectroscopic properties of the complexes, which showed a large color change in the near-infrared region.

Abstract
Phosphaalkenes (RP=CR2) and diphosphenes (RP=PR) are main group analogues of alkenes (R2C=CR2). Molecules featuring such multiply bonded phosphorus functionalities often display structural features and chemical reactivities that mimic their purely organic counterparts, lending credence to the claim that these compounds are “carbon copies”. We have been expanding this analogy to include oligomers and polymers with extended conjugation that directly involve P=C and P=P units. Many of these materials, however, display little or no photoluminescence (PL). This article summarizes our efforts to understand P=C and P=P photobehavior and to produce materials having significant PL that mimic or “photocopy” the PL properties of the phosphorus-free systems. Recent materials based on benzoxaphospholes (BOPs), benzobisoxaphospholes (BBOPs), and higher analogues having significant fluorescence quantum yields are covered.

Abstract
DFT calculations have been performed on the derivatives of formula CH₂OP₂ to determine their total energy, the relative energy between the isomers and their geometry. Among compounds with a P-C-P linkage, the most stable one is the 2-hydroxy-1,2-diphosphirene II.1, a three-membered heterocycle with a P=C unsaturation. The phosphavinylidene(oxo)phosphorane HP=C=P(O)H IV.5 (which has the same skeleton as the experimentally obtained Mes*P=C=P(O)Mes*) lies 36.30 kcal mol⁻¹ above it. The least stable compounds are carbenes; the singlet carbenes are more stable than the triplet ones.
