Abstract
The field of nanopore sensing at the single-molecular level is in a "boom" period. Such nanopores, which are either composed of biological materials or are fabricated from solid-state substrates, offer a unique confined space that is compatible with the single-molecular scale. Under the influence of an electrical field, such single-biomolecular interfaces can read single-molecular information and, if appropriately fine-tuned, each molecule plays its individual ionic rhythm to compose a "molecular symphony". Over the past few decades, many research groups have worked on nanopore-based single-molecular sensors for a range of thrilling chemical and clinical applications. Furthermore, for the past decade, we have also focused on nanopore-based sensors. In this Minireview, we summarize the recent developments in fundamental research and applications in this area, along with data algorithms and advances in hardware, which act as infrastructure for the electrochemical analysis.

Abstract
The fluid dynamics of a liquid|liquid system inside a four-electrode electrochemical cell were studied by velocimetry magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and flow propagator measurements. To characterize this system fully, three different cell configurations operating at two rotational frequencies were analyzed. Quantitative information about the stability of the liquid|liquid interface and the dynamics of the organic phase were determined. The NMR spectroscopy results were in agreement with the electrochemical measurements performed by using the same experimental setup.

Abstract
This paper introduces a nanopipette combined with a quartz tuning fork-atomic force microscope system (nanopipette/QTF-AFM), and describes experimental and theoretical investigations of the nanoscale materials used. The system offers several advantages over conventional cantilever-based AFM and QTF-AFM systems, including simple control of the quality factor based on the contact position of the QTF, easy variation of the effective tip diameter, electrical detection, on-demand delivery and patterning of various solutions, and in situ surface characterization after patterning. This tool enables nanoscale liquid delivery and nanofabrication processes without damaging the apex of the tip in various environments, and also offers force spectroscopy and microscopy capabilities.

Effect of concentration gradient on ionic current rectification in polyethyleneimine modified glass nano-pipettes. Sci Rep 2014; 4:4005. Abstract
Ion current rectification dependent on the concentration gradient of KCl solutions was systematically investigated in polyethyleneimine modified glass nano-pipettes with inner diameter of 105 nm. Peak shape dependence of the rectification factor on outer KCl solution concentration was observed when inner KCl solution with concentration from 1 mM to 500 mM was used. The peak shape dependence was also observed when the concentrations of the inner and outer KCl solutions were identically controlled. The peak shape in the ion current rectification could be explained by the ion conductance changes through the conical nano-pipette, which result from modulation of ion concentration.
