Abstract
In the past several decades, hypervalent iodine chemistry has witnessed prosperous
development as hypervalent iodine reagents have been widely used in various organic transformations.
Specifically, hypervalent iodine reagents have been vastly used in various bondforming
reactions. Among these oxidative coupling reactions, the reactions involving the
formation of C-N bond have been extensively explored to construct various heterocyclic
skeletons and synthesize various useful building blocks. This review article is to summarize
all the transformations in which carbon-nitrogen bond formation occurred by using hypervalent
iodine reagents under metal-free conditions.

Abstract
The synthesis of NH-sulfoximines from sulfides has been first developed under mild conditions in an aqueous solution with surfactant TPGS-750-M as the catalyst at room temperature. In this newly developed process, a simple and convenient recycling strategy to regenerate the indispensable hypervalent iodine(III) is used. The resulting 1,2,3-trifluoro-5-iodobezene can be recovered almost quantitively from the mixture by liquid-liquid extraction and then oxidized to give the corresponding iodine(III) species. This optimized procedure is compatible with a broad range of functional groups and can be easily performed on a gram scale, providing a green protocol for the synthesis of sulfoximines.

Abstract
A photochemical catalytic amination of arenes is presented. The reaction proceeds under benign iodine catalysis in the presence of visible light as the initiator and provides access to a range of differently substituted arylamines. A total of 29 examples demonstrate the broad applicability of this mild oxidation method. The scope of the reaction could further be expanded to silyl-tethered derivatives, which undergo intramolecular amination upon formation of seven-membered heterocycles. Cleavage of the silicon tether provides access to the corresponding 3-substituted anilines.

Abstract
Although cyclic diaryliodonium species have the potential to act as valuable synthons for cascade transformations, they still remain largely unexplored. The regioselectivity associated with unsymmetrical cyclic diaryliodonium species has previously been known to pose a challenge. A regioselective relayed alkynylation and olefination of unsymmetrical cyclic diaryliodonium species has been achieved by installation of a directing amido group. These relayed transformations were delayed until an oxazole ring had formed, delivering a series of unique fluorescent benzoxazoles. Moreover, some of these synthetic benzoxazoles showed apparent inhibitory activity against malignant cancer cells. Further confocal visualization revealed that benzoxazoles targeted cell nuclei. These findings might provide a novel structural scaffold to develop desirable anticancer agents.

Abstract
A sterically demanding unsymmetrical pentafluorophenyl-triisopropylphenyl-λ(3)-iodane was developed as an effective reagent for the electrophilic pentafluorophenylation of various β-keto esters and a β-keto amide. 17 examples of α-pentafluorophenylated 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds 3 having a quaternary carbon center are provided. The resulting compounds were nicely transformed into chiral α-pentafluorophenyl ketones with an all-carbon stereogenic center in high yields and high enantioselectivities using asymmetric organocatalysis (up to 98 % ee) or asymmetric metal catalysis (up to 82 % ee).

Abstract
Hypervalent iodine(III) reagents have been known for over a century, and their reaction profile is still actively investigated. Recent years have seen impressive improvements in the area of alkene difunctionalization reactions, where new methodologies have become available. Especially chiral non-racemic hypervalent iodine(III) reagents and catalysts have emerged as versatile tools for the realization of important enantioselective transformations.
