Abstract
A new racemic naphthyl-coumarin-based probe was found to bind covalently with amino acids in MeOH-KOH system and thereby generates distinct CD responses. The induced strong CD signals allowed quantitative enantiomeric excess analysis of amino acids and enantioselective sensing of amines and amino alcohols. The mechanism for the reaction of the coumarin-aldehyde probe with an amino acid was investigated by CD, UV-Vis, NMR, ESI-MS analyses and ECD calculation.

Abstract
This article provides a detailed report of our efforts to synthesize the dithiodiketopiperazine (DTP) natural products (-)-epicoccin G and (-)-rostratin A using a double C(sp3 )-H activation strategy. The strategy's viability was first established on a model system lacking the C8/C8' alcohols. Then, an efficient stereoselective route including an organocatalytic epoxidation was secured to access a key bis-triflate substrate. This bis-triflate served as the functional handles for the key transformation of the synthesis: a double C(sp3 )-H activation. The successful double activation opened access to a common intermediate for both natural products in high overall yield and on a multigram scale. After several unsuccessful attempts, this intermediate was efficiently converted to (-)-epicoccin G and to the more challenging (-)-rostratin A via suitable oxidation/reduction and protecting group sequences, and via a final sulfuration that occurred in good yield and high diastereoselectivity. These efforts culminated in the synthesis of (-)-epicoccin G and (-)-rostratin A in high overall yields (19.6 % over 14 steps and 12.7 % over 17 steps, respectively), with the latter being obtained on a 500 mg scale. Toxicity assessments of these natural products and several analogues (including the newly synthesized epicoccin K) in the leukemia cell line K562 confirmed the importance of the disulfide bridge for activity and identified dianhydrorostratin A as a 20x more potent analogue.

Abstract
Potassium acyltrifluoroborates (KATs) were prepared through copper(I)-catalyzed borylation of aldehydes and subsequent oxidation. This synthetic route is characterized by the wide range of aldehydes accessible, favorable step economy, mild reaction conditions, and tolerance of various functional groups, and it enables the facile generation of a range of KATs, for example, bearing halide, sulfide, acetal, or ester moieties. Moreover, this method was applied to the three-step synthesis of various α-amino acid analogues that bear a KAT moiety on the C-terminus by using naturally occurring amino acids as the starting material.

Abstract
The family of epipolythiodiketopiperazine (ETP) natural products consists of over 200 members possessing a wide diversity of structures and biological activity. Recently, the subgroup of 6-5-6-5-6-membered ETPs has gained substantial attention, which has resulted in several total syntheses. Despite all the efforts that have been invested into accessing these complex structures, no synthesis of scabrosin diacetate (1 a) and its related esters has been reported. Herein, our attempts towards scabrosin diacetate (1 a) and haematocin (3) starting from diketopiperazine 12 a as a late-stage intermediate are presented. Diketopiperazine 12 a can be conveniently accessed in multigram quantities from aldehyde 18 and diketopiperazine 21 and was envisioned to serve as a general platform for the synthesis of 6-5-6-5-6-membered ETPs.

Abstract
The stereoselective synthesis of a variety of functionalized hydroindoles suitable as building blocks for thiodiketopiperazine natural products such as rostratins B-D is reported. The key precursor for all transformations is a previously reported hexahydroindole compound. All functional groups were installed with the desired stereochemistry and the feasibility of the synthetic strategy was exemplified by dimerization of two hydroindole units to form the pentacyclic C2 -symmetric scaffold of rostratin C.

Abstract
Herein we suggest an approach to oxygenated bicyclic amino acids based on an aza-Cope-Mannich rearrangement. Seven distinct amino acid scaffolds analogous to the natural products were prepared on a gram scale with precise control of stereochemistry. Successful implementation of our strategy resulted in the formal synthesis of acetylaranotin.
