Abstract
We herein report the preparation of solid and salt-stabilized silylzinc pivalates from the corresponding silyllithium reagents via transmetalation with Zn(OPiv)2 . These resulting organosilylzinc pivalates show enhanced air and moisture stability and unique reactivity in the silylative difunctionalization of alkenes. Thus, a practical chelation-assisted nickel-catalyzed regioselective alkyl and benzylsilylation of alkenes has been developed, which provides an easy method to access alkyl silanes with broad substrate scope and wide functional group compatibility. Kinetic experiments highlight that the OPiv-coordination is crucial to improve the reactivity of silylzinc pivalates. Furthermore, late-stage functionalizations of druglike molecules and versatile modifications of the products illustrate the synthetical utility of this protocol.

Abstract
An efficient copper-catalyzed cascade difunctionalization of N-allyl anilines toward the synthesis of silylated indolines using commercially available silanes has been reported. This strategy provides a new avenue for the synthesis of a diverse array of indolines in reasonable yields. Preliminary mechanistic investigations indicate that the reaction probably proceeds via a radical pathway with unactivated alkenes as radical acceptors and simple silanes as radical precursors. This protocol is distinguished by its atom economy, broad substrate scope and readily available starting materials.

Abstract
Indium tribromide catalysed the transfer hydrogenation from dihydroaromatic compounds, such as the commercially available γ-terpinene, to enones, which resulted in the cyclisation to trisubstituted furan derivatives. The reaction was initiated by a Michael addition of a hydride nucleophile to the enone subunit followed by a Lewis-acid-assisted cyclisation and the formation of a furan-indium intermediate and a Wheland intermediate derived from the dihydroaromatic starting material. The product was formed by protonation from the Wheland complex and replaced the indium tribromide substituent. In addition, a site-specific deuterium labelling of the dihydroaromatic HD surrogates resulted in site specific labelling of the products and gave useful insights into the reaction mechanism by H-D scrambling.

Abstract
The transfer‐hydrogenation as well as the regioselective and regiodivergent addition of H−D from regiospecific deuterated dihydroaromatic compounds to a variety of 1,1‐di‐ and trisubstituted alkenes was realised with InBr3 in dichloro(m)ethane. In comparison with the previously reported BF3⋅Et2O‐catalysed process, electron‐deficient aryl‐substituents can be applied reliably and thereby several restrictions could be lifted, and new types of substrates could be transformed successfully in hydrodeuterogenation as well as deuterohydrogenation transfer‐hydrogenation reactions.

Abstract
An aldehyde with a cyclohexa-2,5-dienyl group in the α-position is introduced as a storable surrogate of highly reactive acetaldehyde. The cyclohexa-2,5-dienyl unit is compatible with an enantioselective Michael addition to nitroalkenes promoted by a Hayashi-Jørgensen catalyst and can be removed by a boron Lewis acid mediated C-C bond cleavage. The robust two-step sequence does not require a large excess of the aldehyde component that is typically needed when directly using acetaldehyde.

Abstract
The design and gram-scale synthesis of a cyclohexa-1,4-diene-based surrogate of isobutene gas is reported. Using the highly electron-deficient Lewis acid B(C6 F5 )3 , application of this surrogate in the hydromethallylation of electron-rich styrene derivatives provided sterically congested quaternary carbon centers. The reaction proceeds by C(sp3 )-C(sp3 ) bond formation at a tertiary carbenium ion that is generated by alkene protonation. The possibility of two concurrent mechanisms is proposed on the basis of mechanistic experiments using a deuterated surrogate.

Abstract
Platinum complexes [Pt(NHC')(NHC)][BArF ] (in which NHC' denotes a cyclometalated N-heterocyclic carbene ligand, NHC) react with primary silanes RSiH3 to afford the cyclometalated platinum(II) silyl complexes [Pt(NHC-SiHR')(NHC)][BArF ] through a process that involves the formation of C-Si and Pt-Si bonds with concomitant extrusion of H2 . Low-temperature NMR studies indicate that the process proceeds through initial formation of the σ-SiH complexes [Pt(NHC')(NHC)(HSiH2 R)][BArF ], which are stable at temperatures below -10 °C. At higher temperatures, activation of one Si-H bond followed by a C-Si coupling reaction generates an agostic SiH platinum hydride derivative [Pt(H)(NHC'-SiH2 R)(NHC)][BArF ], which undergoes a second Si-H bond activation to afford the final products. Computational modeling of the reaction mechanism indicates that the stereochemistry of the silyl/hydride ligands after the first Si-H bond cleavage dictates the nature of the products, favoring the formation of a C-Si bond over a C-H bond, in contrast to previous results obtained for tertiary silanes. Furthermore, the process involves a trans-to-cis isomerization of the NHC ligand before the second Si-H bond cleavage.

Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of an (arsino)phosphaketene, As(PCO){[N(Dipp)](CH2 )}2 (Dipp=2,6-diisopropylphenyl) is reported along with its subsequent reactivity with B(C6 F5 )3 . When reacted in a stoichiometric ratio, B(C6 F5 )3 drove the insertion of the P=C bond of the phosphaketene into one of the As-N bonds of the arsino functionality, affording an acid-stabilized, seven-membered, cyclic arsaphosphene. In contrast, when catalytic amounts of B(C6 F5 )3 were employed, dimeric species, which formed through a formal [2+2] cycloaddition of the cyclic arsaphosphene, were generated. The cyclic arsaphosphene product represents the first example of such a compound in which the two substituents are arranged in a cis-configuration.
