Abstract
A site-selective C(3)/C(4)-alkylation of N-pyridylisoquinolones is achieved by employing C-C bond activation of cyclopropanols under Ru(II)-catalyzed/Cu(II)-mediated conditions. The regioisomeric ratios of the products follow directly from the electronic nature of the cyclopropanols and isoquinolones used, with electron-withdrawing groups yielding predominantly the C(3)-alkylated products, whereas the electron-donating groups primarily generate the C(4)-alkylated isomers. Density functional theory calculations and detailed mechanistic investigations suggest the simultaneous existence of the singlet and triplet pathways for the C(3)- and C(4)-product formation. Further transformations of the products evolve the utility of the methodology thereby yielding scaffolds of synthetic relevance.

Abstract
An efficient protocol was developed for the synthesis of π-extended isocoumarins and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons based on the oxidative coupling of aromatic carboxylic acids with internal alkynes catalyzed by (cyclopentadienyl)rhodium complexes. The coupling chemoselectivity strongly depends on whether Cp or the methylated Cp* ligands are used. The pentamethyl derivative [Cp*RhCl2 ]2 predominantly gives isocoumarins, while the non-methylated complex [CpRhI2 ]n produces naphthalene derivatives. The polyaromatic carboxylic acids (such as 1-naphthoic acid, 1-pyrenecarboxylic acid, fluorene-1-carboxylic acid, and dibenzofuran-4-carboxylic acid) are suitable for this approach. A mixture of Cp*H/RhCl3 can be used as a catalyst instead of [Cp*RhCl2 ]2 . The structures of 3,4-diphenylindeno[1,2-h]isochromen-1(11H)-one and 7,10-dimethyl-8,9-diphenylbenzo[pqr]tetraphene were determined by X-ray diffraction. In addition, the optical properties of the prepared compounds were studied. 7,8-Diphenyl-10H-phenaleno[1,9-gh]isochromen-10-one was employed as an emissive layer for OLED manufacturing. The OLED emits yellow-green light with a maximum intensity 1740 cd ⋅ m-2 at 15 V.

Abstract
Near-infrared (NIR) organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) show great potential in a variety of applications including sensors, night vision, and information security. Despite the superiority of thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) in 100 % exciton harvesting, the development of NIR TADF OLEDs is still a great challenge, especially in terms of solution-processing technology. In this work, a multicyano acceptor of 2-dicyanomethylene-3-cyano-4,5,5-trimethyl-2,5-dihydrofurance (TCF) with strong electron-withdrawing ability was employed to construct solution-processible NIR emitters, CzTCF and tBCzTCF, with the feature of donor-π-acceptor (D-π-A) structure. The significantly enhanced intermolecular charge transfer effects not only render the deep-red and NIR emissions of CzTCF and tBCzTCF films, respectively, but also lead to their typical TADF characteristics. Consequently, the nondoped solution-processed NIR OLED based on tBCzTCF was successfully demonstrated with the peak wavelength of 715 nm, which paves the way for developing NIR emitters without polycyclic aromatic cores and heavy-metal ions.

Abstract
The mechanism of a trinuclear cooperative dehydrogenative C-N bond-forming reaction is investigated in this work, which avoids the use of chelate-assisting directing groups. Two new highly efficient Ru/Cu co-catalyzed systems were identified, allowing orders of magnitude greater TOFs than the previous state of the art. In-depth kinetic studies were performed in combination with advanced DFT calculations, which reveal a decisive rate-determining trinuclear Ru-Cu cooperative reductive elimination step (CRE).

Abstract
DFT calculations were applied to study the oxidative coupling between benzoic acid and 1-phenyl-1-propyne catalyzed by [CpRhCl2 ]2 (Cp=cyclopentadienyl) by using either Cu(OAc)2 (H2 O) or Ag(OAc) as the terminal oxidant, a process that has been experimentally shown to have subtleties related to regioselectivity (placement of the phenyl substituent of the alkyne in the isocoumarin product) and chemoselectivity (isocoumarin or naphthalene derivatives). Calculations reproduced the experimental results and showed the involvement of the oxidant throughout the catalytic cycle. The regioselectivity was found to be decided in the alkyne insertion step, in particular by the relative arrangement of the two phenyl groups. The high chemoselectivity towards isocoumarin associated to Cu(OAc)2 (H2 O) could be explained by the fact that the copper moiety blocks the CO2 extrusion pathway, which would lead to naphthalene derivatives, something that does not happen if Ag(OAc) is used.
