Abstract
An efficient double allene protocol for the formation of benzazocines has been developed. The reaction constitutes a highly regioselective palladium-catalyzed formal [6+2] annulation of allenyl benzoxazinanones with terminal allenes forming the challenging 8-membered cycles. Decent yields and excellent regioselectivity have been observed under mild conditions with a remarkable Z-stereoselectivity for the exo-cyclic C=C bonds. The synthetic potentials of benzazocine products have been demonstrated.

Abstract
Diene-transmissive hetero-Diels-Alder sequences involving carbonyl dienophiles are reported for the first time. High enantioselectivities are achieved in the reaction of phenylglyoxal with a broad range of dendralene structures, through the optimization of a Pd2+ catalyst system. The initial catalyst-controlled enantioselective oxa-Diels-Alder (ODA) cycloaddition to a [3]dendralene generates a dihydropyran carrying a semicyclic diene. This participates in a subsequent catalyst or substrate-controlled Diels-Alder reaction to generate sp3 -rich fused polycyclic systems containing both heterocycles and carbocycles. Computational investigations reveal a concerted asynchronous mechanism. π-Complexation of a diene C=C bond to Pd2+ occurs in both the pre-transition state (TS) complex and in cycloaddition TSs, controlling stereoselectivity. A formal enantioselective [4+2]cycloaddition of a CO2 dienophile is demonstrated.

Abstract
Herein, we describe a Pd-catalyzed [2+3] cycloaddition/cross-coupling reaction of allenyl acetates for the Z/E selective and diastereoselective synthesis of dendralene-functionalized dihydrofurans. Remarkably, mechanistic studies show the formation of an epoxide from a carbonyl bond via cycloaddition, which is practically and mechanistically significant for the construction of other bioactive heterocyclic epoxides. This research also revealed the utility and potential of allenic esters as C2 synthons and 1,2-biselectrophiles in cycloaddition reactions.

Abstract
Recent developments over the past few years in aqueous micellar catalysis are discussed. Applications to problems in synthesis are highlighted, enabled by the use of surfactants that self-aggregate in water into micelles as nanoreactors. These include amphiphiles that have been available for some time, as well as those that have been newly designed. Reactions catalyzed by transition metals, including Pd, Cu, Rh, and Au, are of particular focus.

Abstract
A highly selective palladium-catalyzed allenic C-H bond oxidation was developed, and it provides a novel and straightforward synthesis of [3]dendralene derivatives. A variety of [3]dendralenes with diverse substitution patterns are accessible with good efficiency and high stereoselectivity. The reaction tolerates a broad substrate scope containing various functional groups on the allene moiety, including ketone, aldehyde, ester, and phenyl groups. Also, a wide range of olefins with both electron-donating and electron-withdrawing aryls, acrylate, sulfone, and phosphonate groups are tolerated.
