Abstract
Herein, a ternary boron-oxygen-nitrogen embedded polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon with multiple resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescence (MR-TADF), namely DBNO, is developed by adopting the para boron-π-boron and para oxygen-π-oxygen strategy. The designed molecule presents a vivid green emission with a high photoluminescence quantum yield (96 %) and an extremely narrow full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 19 nm/0.09 eV, which surpasses all previously reported green TADF emitters to date. In addition, the long molecular structure along the transition dipole moment direction endows it with a high horizontal emitting dipole ratio of 96 %. The organic light-emitting diode (OLED) based on DBNO reveals a narrowband green emission with a peak at 504 nm and a FWHM of 24 nm/0.12 eV. Particularly, a significantly improved device performance is achieved by the TADF-sensitization (hyperfluorescence) mechanism, presenting a FWHM of 27 nm and a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 37.1 %.

Abstract
Thermally activated delayed fluorophors (TADF) featuring through-space charge transfers (TSCT) suffer from low radiative decay rates (kr s), especially for blue emitters. Here, a xanthene bridge is adopted to construct space-confined face-to-face donor-acceptor alignment and minimize their distances down to 2.7-2.8 Å, even shorter than the interlayer distance of graphite and thus strengthening the electronic interactions. The resulting blue TSCT-TADF emitters exhibit peaks around ≈460 nm, photoluminescence quantum yields of >90 %, and kr s of nearly 107 s-1 , almost 2-10 times higher than previously observed values with comparable reverse intersystem crossing rates. The corresponding blue organic light-emitting diodes show maximum external quantum efficiencies of 27.8 % and 34.7 % with Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage y coordinates of 0.29 and 0.15 using those molecules as emitters and sensitizers, respectively.

Exceptionally efficient deep blue anthracene-based luminogens: design, synthesis, photophysical, and electroluminescent mechanisms. Sci Bull (Beijing) 2021; 66:2090-2098. Abstract
Achieving high-efficiency deep blue emitter with CIEy < 0.06 (CIE, Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage) and external quantum efficiency (EQE) >10% has been a long-standing challenge for traditional fluorescent materials in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Here, we report the rational design and synthesis of two new deep blue luminogens: 4-(10-(4'-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)-2,5-dimethyl-[1,1'-biphenyl]-4-yl)anthracen-9-yl)benzonitrile (2M-ph-pCzAnBzt) and 4-(10-(4-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)-2,5-dimethylphenyl)anthracen-9-yl)benzonitrile (2M-pCzAnBzt). In particular, 2M-ph-pCzAnBzt produces saturated deep blue emissions in a non-doped electroluminescent device with an exceptionally high EQE of 10.44% and CIEx,y (0.151, 0.057). The unprecedented electroluminescent efficiency is attributed to the combined effects of higher-order reversed intersystem crossing and triplet-triplet up-conversion, which are supported by analysis of theoretical calculation, triplet sensitization experiments, as well as nanosecond transient absorption spectroscopy. This research offers a new approach to resolve the shortage of high efficiency deep blue fluorescent emitters.

Abstract
Thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials with through-space charge transfers (CT) have attracted particularly interest recently. However, the slow reverse intersystem crossing (RISC) and radiative decay always limit their electroluminescence performances. Herein, TADF molecules with ortho-linked multiple donors-acceptor (ortho-Dn -A) motif are developed to create near-degenerate excited states for the reinforcement of spin-orbit coupling. The incorporation of both through-bond and through-space CT enlarges oscillator strength. The optimal ortho-D3 -A compound exhibits a photoluminescence quantum yield of ca. 100 %, a high RISC rate of 2.57×106 s-1 and a high radiative decay rate of 1.00×107 s-1 simultaneously. With this compound as the sensitizer, a TADF-sensitized-fluorescent organic light-emitting diode shows a maximum external quantum efficiency of 31.6 % with an ultrapure green Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage y coordinate value of 0.69.

Abstract
π-Stacked dendrimers consisting of cofacially aligned donors and acceptors are developed by introducing three dendritic teracridan donors with orthogonal configuration and three triazine acceptors in periphery of hexaphenylbenzene skeleton. The dendritic structure and orthogonal configuration of teracridan not only make their outer acridan segments approaching to acceptor in close distance, but also fix donor and acceptor in face-to-face alignment, leading to through-space charge transfer emission with thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) effect. By regulating charge transfer strength via substituent effect of acceptor, emission color of the dendrimers can be tuned from blue to yellow/red region. Solution-processed two-color white organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) based on blue and yellow π-stacked donor-acceptor dendrimers exhibit the maximum external quantum efficiency of 20.6 % and maximum power efficiency of 58.9 lm W-1 , representing the state-of-the-art efficiency for all-TADF white OLEDs by solution process.

Abstract
Reported herein is a molecular design strategy of deep-blue emitters for resolving the lack of highly efficient deep-blue organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) featuring CIEy (Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage) color coordinates matching the display requirements (<0.1). The strategy is to combine weak spiro-donor and spiro-acceptor groups into a linear donor-π-acceptor type of thermally-activated delayed fluorescence molecule through a sterically bulky π-spacer. The strategy endows an emitter with deep-blue emission, a narrower emission bandwidth (51 nm in toluene), a high photoluminescence quantum yield (0.95 in toluene), weak concentration quenching, and efficient triplet-exciton utilization, which are all attractive characteristics for emitters of deep-blue OLEDs with lower CIEy coordinates. Owing to the rational design, the emitter has realized not only highly efficient doped deep-blue OLEDs with external quantum efficiencies (EQEs) up to 25.4 % and CIEy less than 0.1 but also so far the most efficient nondoped deep-blue OLED (EQE up to 22.5 %) with CIEy less than 0.1.

Abstract
Intramolecular through-space charge-transfer (TSCT) excited states have been exploited for developing thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters, but the tuning of excited state dynamics by conformational engineering remains sparse. Designed here is a series of TSCT emitters with precisely controlled alignment of the donor and acceptor segments. With increasing intramolecular π-π interactions, the radiative decay rate of the lowest singlet excited state (S1 ) progressively increased together with a suppression of nonradiative decay, leading to significantly enhanced photoluminescence quantum yields of up to 0.99 in doped thin films. A high-efficiency electroluminescence device, with a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 23.96 %, was achieved and maintains >20 % at a brightness of 1000 cd m-2 . This work sheds light on the importance of conformation control for achieving high-efficiency intramolecular exciplex emitters.

Abstract
Doubly boron-doped thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters based on a 9,10-diboraanthracene (DBA) acceptor decorated with ortho-donor groups (Cz2oDBA, 2; BuCz2oDBA, 3; DMAC2oDBA, 4) are prepared to realize high-efficiency green-to-red organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). X-ray diffraction analyses of 2 and 4 reveal the symmetrical and highly twisted ortho-donor-acceptor-donor (D-A-D) structure of the emitters. The twisted conformation leads to a very small energy splitting (ΔEST <0.08 eV) between the excited singlet and triplet states that gives rise to strong TADF, as supported by theoretical studies. Depending on the strength of the donor moieties, the emission color is fine-tuned in the visible region from green (2) to yellow (3) to red (4). Carbazole-containing 2 and 3 exhibit high photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQYs) approaching 100 %, whereas DMAC-substituted 4 is moderately emissive (PLQY=44 %) in a doped host film. Highly efficient green-to-red TADF-OLEDs are realized with the proposed ortho-D-A-D compounds as emitters. The green and yellow OLEDs incorporating Cz2oDBA (2) and BuCz2oDBA (3) emitters exhibit high external quantum efficiencies (EQEs) of 26.6 % and 21.6 %, respectively. In particular, the green device shows an excellent power efficiency above 100 lm W-1 . A red OLED fabricated with a DMAC2oDBA (4) emitter exhibits a maximum EQE of 10.1 % with an electroluminescence peak at 615 nm.

Abstract
Boron's unique position in the Periodic Table, that is, at the apex of the line separating metals and nonmetals, makes it highly versatile in chemical reactions and applications. Contemporary demand for renewable and clean energy as well as energy-efficient products has seen boron playing key roles in energy-related research, such as 1) activating and synthesizing energy-rich small molecules, 2) storing chemical and electrical energy, and 3) converting electrical energy into light. These applications are fundamentally associated with boron's unique characteristics, such as its electron-deficiency and the availability of an unoccupied p orbital, which allow the formation of a myriad of compounds with a wide range of chemical and physical properties. For example, boron's ability to achieve a full octet of electrons with four covalent bonds and a negative charge has led to the synthesis of a wide variety of borate anions of high chemical and electrochemical stability-in particular, weakly coordinating anions. This Review summarizes recent advances in the study of boron compounds for energy-related processes and applications.

Abstract
Highly efficient solution-processable emitters are greatly desired to develop low-cost organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). The recently developed thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials are promising candidates, but blue TADF materials compatible with the all-solution-process have still not been achieved. Here, a series of TADF materials, named X-4CzCN, are developed by introducing the bulky units through an unconjugated linker, which realizes high molecular weight to enhance the solvent resistance ability without disturbing the blue TADF feature. Meanwhile, the peripheral wrapping groups efficiently inhibit the triplet-triplet and triplet-polaron quenching by isolating the energy-transfer and charge-transporting channels. The photophysical measurements indicate that a small variation in peripheral unit will have a noticeable effect on the luminescence efficiency. The enlarged volume of peripheral units will make the electroluminescent spectra blueshift, while enhancing the energy transfer of exciplex and blocking the energy leakage of electromer can facilitate the exciton utilization. As a result, the fully solution-processed blue OLED achieves a CIE of (0.16, 0.27), a low turn on voltage of 2.9 eV, and a high external quantum efficiency of 20.6 %. As far as we known, this is the first report of all-solution-processed TADF OLEDs with blue emission, which exhibits a high efficiency even comparable to the vacuum-deposited devices.

Abstract
The development of efficient non-doped organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) is highly desired but very challenging because of a severe aggregation-caused quenching effect. Herein, we present a heptagonal diimide acceptor (BPI), which can restrict excessive intramolecular rotation and inhibit close intermolecular π-π stacking due to well-balanced rigidity and rotatability of heptagonal structure. The BPI-based luminogen (DMAC-BPI) shows significant aggregation-induced delayed florescence with an extremely high photoluminescence quantum yield (95.8 %) of the neat film, and the corresponding non-doped OLEDs exhibit outstanding electroluminescence performance with maximum external quantum efficiency as high as 24.7 % and remarkably low efficiency roll-off as low as 1.0 % at 1000 cd m-2 , which represents the state-of-the-art performance for non-doped OLEDs. In addition, the synthetic route to DMAC-BPI is greatly streamlined and simplified through oxidative Ar-H/Ar-H homo-coupling reaction.

Abstract
A series of donor-acceptor-donor triazine-based molecules with thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) properties were synthesized to obtain highly efficient blue-emitting OLEDs with non-doped emitting layers (EMLs). The targeted molecules use a triazine core as the electron acceptor, and a benzene ring as the conjugated linker with different electron donors to alternate the energy level of the HOMO to further tune the emission color. The introduction of long alkyl chains on the triazine core inhibits the unwanted intermolecular D-D/A-A-type π-π interactions, resulting in the intermolecular D-A charge transfer. The weak aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) effect caused by the suppressed intermolecular D-D/A-A-type π-π interaction further enhances the emission. The crowded molecular structure allows the electron donor and acceptor to be nearly orthogonal, thereby reducing the energy gap between triplet and singlet excited states (ΔEST ). As a result, blue-emitting devices with TH-2DMAC and TH-2DPAC non-doped EMLs showed satisfactory efficiencies of 12.8 % and 15.8 %, respectively, which is one of the highest external quantum efficiency (EQEs) reported for blue TADF emitters (λpeak <475 nm), demonstrating that our tailored molecular designs are promising strategies to endow OLEDs with excellent electroluminescent performances.

Abstract
Developing red thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters, attainable for both high-efficient red organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and non-doped deep red/near-infrared (NIR) OLEDs, is challenging. Now, two red emitters, BPPZ-PXZ and mDPBPZ-PXZ, with twisted donor-acceptor structures were designed and synthesized to study molecular design strategies of high-efficiency red TADF emitters. BPPZ-PXZ employs the strictest molecular restrictions to suppress energy loss and realizes red emission with a photoluminescence quantum yield (ΦPL ) of 100±0.8 % and external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 25.2 % in a doped OLED. Its non-doped OLED has an EQE of 2.5 % owing to unavoidable intermolecular π-π interactions. mDPBPZ-PXZ releases two pyridine substituents from its fused acceptor moiety. Although mDPBPZ-PXZ realizes a lower EQE of 21.7 % in the doped OLED, its non-doped device shows a superior EQE of 5.2 % with a deep red/NIR emission at peak of 680 nm.

Abstract
Near-infrared (NIR) organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) show great potential in a variety of applications including sensors, night vision, and information security. Despite the superiority of thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) in 100 % exciton harvesting, the development of NIR TADF OLEDs is still a great challenge, especially in terms of solution-processing technology. In this work, a multicyano acceptor of 2-dicyanomethylene-3-cyano-4,5,5-trimethyl-2,5-dihydrofurance (TCF) with strong electron-withdrawing ability was employed to construct solution-processible NIR emitters, CzTCF and tBCzTCF, with the feature of donor-π-acceptor (D-π-A) structure. The significantly enhanced intermolecular charge transfer effects not only render the deep-red and NIR emissions of CzTCF and tBCzTCF films, respectively, but also lead to their typical TADF characteristics. Consequently, the nondoped solution-processed NIR OLED based on tBCzTCF was successfully demonstrated with the peak wavelength of 715 nm, which paves the way for developing NIR emitters without polycyclic aromatic cores and heavy-metal ions.
