Abstract
In the presence of 1 mol % of a chiral iron porphyrin catalyst, various 3-arylmethyl-substituted 2-quinolones and 2-pyridones underwent an enantioselective amination reaction (20 examples; 93-99 % ee). The substrates were used as the limiting reagents, and fluorinated aryl azides (1.5 equivalents) served as nitrene precursors. The reaction is triggered by visible light which allows a facile dediazotation at ambient temperature. The selectivity of the reaction is governed by a two-point hydrogen bond interaction between the ligand of the iron catalyst and the substrate. Hydrogen bonding directs the amination to a specific hydrogen atom within the substrate that is displaced by the nitrogen substituent either in a concerted fashion or by a rebound mechanism.

Abstract
The mechanochemical, solvent-free, highly regioselective, rhodium-catalyzed C-H methylation of (hetero)arenes is reported. The reaction shows excellent functional-group compatibility and is demonstrated to work for the late-stage C-H methylation of biologically active compounds. The method requires no external heating and benefits from considerably shorter reaction times than previous solution-based C-H methylation protocols. Additionally, the mechanochemical approach is shown to enable the efficient synthesis of organometallic complexes that are difficult to generate conventionally.

Abstract
An exceptionally mild and efficient method was developed for the preparation of (hetero)aryl-AuI -L complexes using ethanol or water as the reaction medium at room temperature and Ar-B(triol)K boronates as the transmetalation partner. The reaction does not need an exogeneous base or other additives, and quantitative yields can be achieved through a simple filtration as the only required purification method, which obviates considerable waste associated with alternative workup methods. A broad reaction scope was demonstrated with respect to both the L and (hetero)aryl ligands on product Au complexes. Despite the polar reaction medium, large polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon units can be incorporated on the Au complexes in very good to excellent yields. The approach was demonstrated for the chemoselective manipulation of orthogonally protected aryl boronates to afford a new class of N-heterocyclic carbene-Au-aryl complexes. A mechanistic rationale was proposed.

Abstract
Aqueous glycerol was identified as a renewable reaction medium for metalla-electrocatalyzed C-H activation powered by sustainable energy sources. The renewable solvent was employed for cobalt-catalyzed C-H/N-H functionalizations under mild conditions. The cobalta-electrocatalysis manifold occurred with high levels of chemo- and positional selectivity and allowed for electrochemical C-H activations with broad substrate scope. The resource economy of this strategy was considerably substantiated by the direct use of renewable solar and wind energy.

Abstract
Multicomponent Mannich reactions through C-H bond activation are described. These transformations allowed for the straightforward generation of densely substituted benzylic and homo-benzylic amines in good yields. The reaction involves a reaction between two transient species: an organometallic species, generated by transition-metal-catalyzed sp2 or sp3 C-H bond activation and an in situ generated imine. The use of an acetal as an aldehyde surrogate was found essential for the reaction to proceed. The process could be successfully applied to RhIII -catalyzed sp2 C-H bond functionalization and extended to CuII -catalyzed sp3 C-H bond functionalization.
