Abstract
Sequential anionic intramolecular cyclizations and modelling were used for the first time to access unusual fused heterocyclic frameworks in excellent yields. 5-Exo-dig cyclizations yielded isoindolinone motifs and a subsequent 6-exo- and 7-endo-dig cyclization was directed to provide either fused isoquinoline or azepine frameworks. Regioselectivities were controlled by exploiting stereoelectronic effects via nC- →π*(Ph) interactions, and modelling studies provided reaction scope.

Abstract
Regioselective transformation is among the long-standing challenges in organic synthesis. In this communication, a copper-catalyzed selectivity controlled regiodivergent borocarbonylation of imines with alkyl iodides has been developed. Various α-amino ketones and α-boryl amides were produced in moderate to good yields from the same substrates. The choice of the ligand is key for the regioselectivity control: α-amino ketones were produced selectively in good yields with (p-CF3 C6 H4 )3 P as the ligand, whereas the corresponding α-boryl amides were obtained with high regioselectivities when using Me IMes as the ligand.

Abstract
Azacycles such as indoles and tetrahydroquinolines are privileged structures in drug development. Reported here is an unprecedented regiodivergent intramolecular nucleophilic addition reaction of imines as a flexible approach to access N-functionalized indoles and tetrahydroquinolines, by the control of reaction at the N-terminus and C-terminus, respectively. Using ketimines derived from 2-(2-nitroethyl)anilines with isatins or α-ketoesters, the regioselective N-attack reaction gives N-functionalized indoles, while the catalytic enantioselective C-attack reaction affords chiral tetrahydroquinolines featuring an α-tetrasubstituted stereocenter. Mechanistic studies reveal that hydrogen-bonding interactions may greatly facilitate such unusual N-attack reactions of imines. The utility of this protocol is highlighted by the catalytic enantioselective formal synthesis of (-)-psychotrimine, and the construction of various fused aza-heterocycles.

Abstract
A facile and efficient Rh(iii)-catalyzed annulation of arylamides with 3-diazoquinolinediones for the construction of diverse and highly functionalized isochromenoquinolinediones is described. Furthermore, the methodology is applicable for delivering various relevant molecules such as pyridopyranoquinolindiones, thienopyranoquinolinones, and indolopyranoquinolinone. The reaction proceeds via cascade C–H activation, carbene insertion, and intramolecular lactonization. The reaction exhibits high atom economy, good functional group tolerance, and high regioselectivity. The synthesized compound can also behave as a potent fluorescence sensor for Fe3+ ion. An efficient Rh(iii)-catalyzed annulation of arylamides with 3-diazoquinolinediones for the construction of diverse and highly functionalized isochromenoquinolinedione derivatives is described.![]()
