Abstract
Room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) materials with wood as framework are highly desirable due to their extended afterglow, high haze and good mechanical properties, which is highly desired in lighting materials. However, it remains challenging to obtain wood-based RTP materials that possess on-demand afterglow colors while maintaining high transparency across the entire visible spectrum. In this study, long-persistent phosphorescent transparent composite with tunable afterglow color is fabricated by infiltrating delignified wood with phosphors (including carbazole, naphthalene, and pyrene) doped polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). Such RTP woods indicate remarkable transparency, over 70 %, and an extended afterglow duration of up to 8 s. Here, PMMA serves as rigid surrounding to suppress the non-radiative transition of phosphors to ensure phosphorescence, and to fulfill in the wood lumen to match the refractive index of cellulose for transparency. By formulating phosphors with different types and concentration ratios, transparent woods with diverse phosphorescence colors, and white emission, are successfully achieved. Furthermore, the RTP woods demonstrate dynamically tunable afterglow colors over time based on the varied phosphorescent lifetimes. Characterized by their high transparency and tunable colors, these natural wood-based RTP materials have great potentials for application in the fields of LED materials, optics, and building materials.

Abstract
Molecular emitters with multi-emissive properties are in high demand in numerous fields, while these properties basically depend on specific molecular conformation and packing. For amorphous systems, special molecular arrangement is unnecessary, but it remains challenging to achieve such luminescent behaviors. Herein, we present a general strategy that takes advantage of molecular rigidity and S1 -T1 energy gap balance for emitter design, which enables fluorescence-phosphorescence dual-emission properties in various solid forms, whether crystalline or amorphous. Subsequently, the amorphism of the emitters based polymethyl methacrylate films endowed an in situ regulation of the dual-emissive characteristics. With the ratiometric regulation of phosphorescence by external stimuli and stable fluorescence as internal reference, highly controllable luminescent color tuning (yellow to blue including white emission) was achieved. There properties together with a persistent luminous behavior is of benefit for an irreplaceable set of optical information combination, featuring an ultrahigh-security anti-counterfeiting ability. Our research introduces a concept of eliminating the crystal-form and molecular-conformational dependence of complex luminescent properties through emitter molecular design. This has profound implications for the development of functional materials.

Abstract
Fluorescent single crystals that respond to multiple external stimuli are of great interest in molecular machines, sensors, and displays. The integration of photo- or acid-induced fluorescence enhancement and bending in one organic crystal, however, has not been reported yet. Herein, we report the interesting plastic photomechanical bending and switching on of the fluorescence of an azine crystal in a single-crystal transformation, due to extended π-conjugation and molecular slippage. Moreover, the fluorescent plastic bending driven by multiple volatile acid vapors was firstly observed, and attributed to the synergistic effect of push-pull electronic structure and hydrogen bonding. The single crystal also shows high elasticity under external force. In addition, reversible fluorescence switching can be triggered by grinding and solvent fuming, as well as by the adsorption and desorption of HCl vapor. The integration of plastic, elastic bending and switch-on fluorescence into one single crystal provides a new strategy for next-generation smart materials.

Abstract
Developing radical emission at ambient conditions is a challenging task since radical species are unstable in air. In the present work, we overcome this challenge by coassembling a series of tricarbonyl-substituted benzene molecules with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). The strong hydrogen bonds between the guest dopants and the PVA host matrix protect the free radicals of carbonyl compounds after light irradiation, leading to strong solid state free radical emission. Changing temperature and peripheral functional groups of the tricarbonyl-substituted benzenes can influence the intensity of the radical emission. Quantum-chemical calculations predict that such free radical fluorescence originates from anti-Kasha D2 →D0 vertical emission by the anion radicals. The photoinduced radical emission by the tricarbonyl-substituted benzenes was successfully utilized for information encryption application.

Abstract
Pure organic room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) materials have attracted wide attention for their easy preparation, low toxicity, and applications in various fields like bioimaging and anti-counterfeiting. Developing phosphorescent systems with more universality and less difficulty in synthesis has long been the pursuit of materials scientists. By employing a polymeric quaternary ammonium salt with an ionic bonding matrix and heavy atoms, commercial fluorescent dyes are directly endowed with phosphorescence emission. In a single amorphous polymer, the external heavy-atom effect generates excited triplet states and the rigid polymer matrix stabilizes them. This study put forward a new general strategy to design and develop pure organic RTP materials starting from existing library of organic dyes without complicated chemical synthesis.

Abstract
We report a highly efficient dopant-matrix afterglow system enabled by TADF mechanism to realize afterglow quantum yields of 60-70 %, which features a moderate rate constant for reverse intersystem crossing (kRISC ) to simultaneously improve afterglow quantum yields and maintain afterglow emission lifetime. Difluoroboron β-diketonate (BF2 bdk) compounds are designed with multiple electron-donating groups to possess moderate kRISC values and are selected as luminescent dopants. The matrices with carbonyl functional groups such as phenyl benzoate (PhB) have been found to interact with and perturb BF2 bdk excited states by dipole-dipole interactions and thus enhance the intersystem crossing of BF2 bdk excited states. Through dopant-matrix collaboration, the efficient TADF-type afterglow materials have been achieved to exhibit excellent processability into desired shapes and large-area films by melt casting, as well as aqueous afterglow dispersions for potential bioimaging applications.

Abstract
Dual-fluorescent-phosphorescent compounds have attracted increasing attention in various fields, such as bio-imaging, data protection/encryption, ratiometric luminescence sensing, and white-light emission. Conventional dual-emissive compounds contain a phosphorescent organometallic complex of a precious metal, such as iridium or platinum. However, the use of precious metals in organic materials has several drawbacks. This Minireview focuses on precious-metal-free organic light-emitting materials that exhibit dual fluorescence and phosphorescence emission in the solid state at room temperature to produce bimodal steady-state emission spectra. The dual emitters presented herein are categorized into the following six compound classes: (1) difluoroboron diaroylmethanes, (2) diarylketones, (3) diarylsulfones, (4) triazines and pyrimidines, (5) fused phenazines, and (6) N-arylcarbazoles.
