Abstract
Au is known to be fairly redox inactive (in catalysis) and bind oxygen adducts only quite weakly. It is thus rather surprising that stable Au-OH complexes can be synthesized and used as oxidants for both one- and two-electron oxidations. A charged AuIII -OH complex has been shown to cleave C-H and O-H bonds homolytically, resulting in a one-electron reduction of the metal center. Contrasting this, a neutral AuIII -OH complex performs oxygen atom transfer to phosphines, resulting in a two-electron reduction of the hydroxide proton to form a AuIII -H rather than causing a change in oxidation state of the metal. We explore the details of these two examples and draw comparisons to the more conventional reactivity exhibited by AuI -OH. Although the current scope of known Au-OH oxidation chemistry is still in its infancy, the current literature exemplifies the unique properties of Au chemistry and shows promise for future findings in the field.

Abstract
C(sp3 )-H and O-H bond breaking steps in the oxidation of 1,4-cyclohexadiene and phenol by a Au(III)-OH complex were studied computationally. The analysis reveals that for both types of bonds the initial X-H cleavage step proceeds via concerted proton coupled electron transfer (cPCET), reflecting electron transfer from the substrate directly to the Au(III) centre and proton transfer to the Au-bound oxygen. This mechanistic picture is distinct from the analogous formal Cu(III)-OH complexes studied by the Tolman group (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2019, 141, 17236-17244), which proceed via hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) for C-H bonds and cPCET for O-H bonds. Hence, care should be taken when transferring concepts between Cu-OH and Au-OH species. Furthermore, the ability of Au-OH complexes to perform cPCET suggests further possibilities for one-electron chemistry at the Au centre, for which only limited examples exist.

Abstract
Efficient OLED devices have been fabricated using organometallic complexes of platinum group metals. Still, the high material cost and low stability represent central challenges for their application in commercial display technologies. Based on its innate stability, gold(III) complexes are emerging as promising candidates for high-performance OLEDs. Here, a series of alkynyl-, N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)- and aryl-gold(III) complexes stabilized by a κ3 -(N^C^C) template have been prepared and their photophysical properties have been characterized in detail. These compounds exhibit good photoluminescence quantum efficiency (ηPL ) of up to 33 %. The PL emission can be tuned from sky-blue to yellowish green colors by variations on both the ancillary ligands as well as on the pincer template. Further, solution-processable OLED devices based on some of these complexes display remarkable emissive properties (ηCE 46.6 cd.A-1 and ηext 14.0 %), thus showcasing the potential of these motifs for the low-cost fabrication of display and illumination technologies.

Abstract
We herein report on new synthetic strategies for the preparation of pyridine and imidazole substituted 2,2'-dihalo biphenyls. These structures are pre-ligands suitable for the preparation of respective stannoles. The latter can successfully be transmetalated to K[AuCl4 ] forming non-palindromic [(C^C^D)AuIII ] pincer complexes featuring a lateral pyridine (D=N) or N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC, D=C') donor. The latter is the first report on a pincer complex with two formally anionic sp2 and one carbenic carbon donor. The [(C^C^D)AuIII ] complexes show intense phosphorescence in solution at room temperature. We discuss the developed multistep strategy and touch upon synthetic challenges. The prepared complexes have been fully characterized including X-ray diffraction analysis. The gold(III) complexes' photophysical properties have been investigated by absorption and emission spectroscopy as well as quantum chemical calculations on the quasi-relativistic two-component TD-DFT and GW/Bethe-Salpeter level including spin-orbit coupling. Thus, we shed light on the electronic influence of the non-palindromic pincer ligand and reveal non-radiative relaxation pathways of the different ligands employed.

Abstract
Pyridine-substituted alkylidenecyclopropanes (Py-ACPs) react with gold(III) salts under mild reaction conditions through an unprecedented, proximal ring-opening pathway, to generate highly appealing, catalytically active pyridine alkenyl [C^N]-gold(III) species. Mechanistic studies reveal that the activation of the C-C bond of the ACP takes place through an unusual concerted, σ-bond metathesis type-process.

Abstract
A new family of phosphine-ligated dicyanoarylgold(III) complexes has been prepared and their reactivity towards reductive elimination has been studied in detail. Both, a highly positive entropy of activation and a primary 12/13 C KIE suggest a late concerted transition state while Hammett analysis and DFT calculations indicate that the process is asynchronous. As a result, a distinct mechanism involving an asynchronous concerted reductive elimination for the overall C(sp2 )-C(sp)N bond forming reaction is characterized herein, for the first time, complementing previous studies reported for C(sp3 )-C(sp3 ), C(sp2 )-C(sp2 ), and C(sp3 )-C(sp2 ) bond formation processes taking place on gold(III) species.
