Abstract
Density functional theory calculations have been performed to investigate the palladium-catalyzed remote diborylative cyclization of dienes. The computations reveal that the reaction proceeds through a rarely explored Pd(II)/Pd(IV) catalytic cycle, and the formal σ-bond metathesis between the alkylpalladium intermediate and B2 pin2 occurs via the pathway of the B-B oxidative addition/C-B reductive elimination involving the high-valent Pd(IV) species. The diastereoselectivity is determined by the migratory insertion into the Pd-C bond, which is mainly due to the combination of the torsional strain effect, steric repulsion and C-H-O hydrogen-bonding interaction. The steric hindrance around the reacting carbon group in the C-B reductive elimination turns out to be a key factor to provide the driving force of the chain walking of the Pd center to the terminal primary carbon position, enabling the experimentally observed remote regioselectivity.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed N-H/B-H double activation of 1,2-dihydro-1,2-benzazaborines proceeded via cycloaddition with vinyl ethylene carbonate to produce polycyclic oxazaborolidines in 31-96 % yield. The key step in this process is the release of molecular hydrogen from a borate intermediate. Using a SPINOL-derived phosphoramidite as a chiral ligand, chiral oxazaborolidines were synthesized in good to high yields with excellent enantioselectivity (up to 95 % ee). The vinyl group of the resulting oxazaborolidine underwent metathesis, Heck reaction, and Wacker oxidation without affecting the oxazaborolidine framework.

Abstract
The challenging metal-catalyzed asymmetric synthesis of highly functional quaternary carbon centers using decarboxylative C(sp3 )-C(sp3 ) bond formation reactions is reported. The key substrate, a vinyl cyclic carbonate, is activated to provide concomitantly both the requisite nucleophile (by formal umpolung) and electrophile reaction partner preceding the asymmetric cross-coupling process. A wide screening of reaction conditions, additives and catalyst precursors afforded a protocol that gave access to a series of compounds featuring densely functionalized, elusive quaternary carbon stereocenters in appreciable yield and with enantiomeric ratios (er's) of up to 90 : 10.

Abstract
The mode of asymmetric induction in an enantioselective intramolecular allylic substitution reaction catalyzed by a combination of palladium and a chiral phosphoric acid was investigated by a combined experimental and statistical modeling approach. Experiments to probe nonlinear effects, the reactivity of deuterium-labeled substrates, and control experiments revealed that nucleophilic attack to the π-allylpalladium intermediate is the enantio-determining step, in which the chiral phosphate anion is involved in stereoinduction. Using multivariable linear regression analysis, we determined that multiple noncovalent interactions with the chiral environment of the phosphate anion are integral to enantiocontrol in the transition state. The synthetic protocol to form chiral pyrrolidines was further applied to the asymmetric construction of C-O bonds at fully substituted carbon centers in the synthesis of chiral 2,2-disubstituted benzomorpholines.
