Abstract
The atom transfer radical cyclisation of unactivated alkyl bromides was realized by using a catalytic system of CuBr and Me6-TREN. This protocol is applicable to the preparation of five-membered rings from unsaturated primary and secondary bromides.

Abstract
The novel polychloromethylation/acyloxylation of 1,6-enynes with chloroalkanes and diacyl peroxides through dual-role designs has been developed to prepare 2-pyrrolidinone derivatives with polychloromethyl units with the use of an inexpensive copper salt under mild conditions. This strategy includes two dual-role designs, not only improving atomic utilization but also allowing a cleaner process. The wide substrate scope and simple reaction conditions demonstrate the practicability of this protocol.

Abstract
A new polymerization method, termed as step transfer-addition and radical-termination, is developed for the step-growth radical polymerization of α,ω-unconjugated dienes under irradiation of visible light at room temperature (25 °C) for the first time. α,ω-Diiodoperfluoroalkane monomers (signified as A) are added onto α,ω-unconjugated dienes (signified as B) alternatively and efficiently with the generation of perfluorocarbon-containing alternating copolymers (AB)n . Based on the combined analyses of polymerization kinetics and NMR spectra (1 H and 19 F), the mechanism of the novel polymerization method, including the side reaction, is proposed. This novel polymerization method provides a new strategy not only for the step-growth radical polymerization of α,ω-unconjugated dienes but also for the construction of high molecular weight perfluorocarbon-containing alternating copolymers.

Abstract
This work demonstrates a new halogenation reaction through sequential radical and halogen transfer reactions, named as "radical and atom transfer halogenation" (RATH). Both benzoxazine compounds and poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) have been demonstrated as active species for RATH. Consequently, the halogenated compound becomes an active initiator of atom transfer radical polymerization. Combination of RATH and sequential ATRP provides an convenient and effective approach to prepare reactive and crosslinkable polymers. The RATH reaction opens a new window both to chemical synthesis and molecular design and preparation of polymeric materials.

Abstract
A new catalytic procedure for atom-transfer radical addition (ATRA) and cyclization (ATRC) reactions is described. The combination of the ruthenium(III) complex [RuCl(2)Cp*(PPh3)] (Cp*: pentamethylcyclopentadienyl) with magnesium allows these reactions to be performed under mild conditions with high efficiency. In most cases, the catalyst concentrations required are significantly lower than those used in previously reported procedures. It is suggested that magnesium acts as a reducing agent that generates and regenerates the catalytically active ruthenium(II) species. The precatalyst [RuCl(2)Cp*(PPh3)] has been analyzed by X-ray crystallography.
