Abstract
The N-acyloxyamides were employed as effective N-acyl nitrene precursors in reactions with thioethers under the catalysis of a commercially available Ru(II) complex, from which a variety of sulfimides were synthesized efficiently and mildly. If an allyl group is contained in the thioether precursor, the [2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement of the sulfimide occurs simultaneously and the N-allyl-N-(thio)amides were obtained as the final products. Preliminary mechanistic studies indicated that the Ru-nitrenoid species should be a key intermediate in the transformation.

Abstract
Oxaziridines have emerged as powerful and elegant oxygen- and nitrogen-transfer agents for a broad array of nucleophiles, due to the remarkably high and tunable reactivities. However, the asymmetric catalysis involving oxaziridines is still in its infancy. Herein, this review aims to examine recent advances in the catalytic asymmetric transformations of oxaziridines, including oxidation, amination, cycloaddition and deracemization.

Abstract
An enantioselective sulfenylation of β-naphthols has been developed for the first time using a newly synthesized cinchona-derived thiourea as the catalyst and N-(arylthio) succinimide (or phthalimide) as an electrophilic sulfur source. Various enantioenriched naphthalenones with an S-containing all-substituted stereocenter were prepared via a dearomatization strategy under mild reaction conditions.

Abstract
A distinctive N-substituent controlled electrophilic N-transfer of oxaziridines with donor-acceptor cyclopropanes in the presence of MgI2 is reported. Contrary to earlier reports, the oxaziridine having bulkier N-substituents can also give N-transferred product instead of the O-transferred one. Interestingly, the oxaziridines having α-H containing N-substituents lead to the pyrrolidine derivatives through [3 + 2] cycloaddition. A mechanistic reasoning for this divergent reactivity is depicted by density functional theory calculations and validated through energy decomposition analysis.

Abstract
A regioselective method for the introduction of sulfonyl groups at the γ-carbon of enone systems is reported. Using a copper catalyst and readily available sulfonyl chlorides, a range of silyl dienol ethers are sulfonylated in good yield under mild reaction conditions. The sulfone derivatives formed are poised for further synthetic manipulations as demonstrated by regioselective alkylations.

Abstract
The scope of the NCS-mediated amination/[2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement of enantioenriched allylic selenides has been expanded to provide access to three new product classes. The use of N-protected amino acid amides provides a novel strategy for accessing peptide chains containing unnatural vinyl glycine amino acid residues. Also reported is the use of amino acid esters, allowing the diastereoselective synthesis of N,N-dicarboxymethylamines, a motif found in a number of pharmaceuticals. Furthermore, use of a range of N-aromatic and N-heteroaromatic amines allows the formation of enantioenriched N-arylamino acids, a motif found in a number of synthetically and biologically interesting compounds.

Abstract
N-Silyloxaziridines were synthesized for the first time. Their tert-butyldiphenylsilyl (TBDPS) derivatives were stable reagents that were prepared on a multigram scale in three steps and in 44% overall yield from the corresponding benzylamines. They were mild electrophilic aminating reagents that reacted at room temperature with diversely substituted primary and secondary amines to produce N-monoalkyl or N,N-dialkyl benzaldehyde hydrazones in 44-87% yield.

Abstract
An efficient and straightforward method for the preparation of highly enantiomerically enriched β,γ-unsaturated α-amino acid derivatives by a Lewis acid promoted diastereoselective Petasis reaction of vinylboronic acid, N-tert-butanesulfinamide, and glyoxylic acid has been developed. The synthetic utilities of the approach were demonstrated by the rapid and convenient construction of challenging cyclopenta[c]proline derivatives.

Abstract
A method for catalytic asymmetric gamma sulfenylation of carbonyl compounds has been developed. In the presence of an appropriate catalyst, thiols not only add to the gamma position of allenoates, overcoming their propensity to add to the beta position in the absence of a catalyst, but do so with very good enantioselectivity. Sulfur nucleophiles are now added to the three families of nucleophiles (carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen) that had earlier been shown to participate in catalyzed gamma additions. The phosphine catalyst of choice, TangPhos, had previously only been employed as a chiral ligand for transition metals, not as an efficient enantioselective nucleophilic catalyst.

Abstract
240 Years have passed since the discovery of elemental phosphorus. During that time organophosphorus chemistry has emerged as an interesting and exciting field of research. Recently organophosphorus chemistry has been raised to a new level. Organophosphorus compounds have found applications in asymmetric organocatalysis for the synthesis of optically active compounds of synthetic or biological importance. The aim of this review article is to present recent contributions to this developing field of chemistry and to point out synthetic advantages of methodologies developed so far.

Abstract
The beta,gamma-unsaturated amino acids are versatile chiral building blocks and biologically interesting compounds. The asymmetric synthesis of beta,gamma-unsaturated amino acids presents a challenging task as these compounds are labile toward racemization as well as the undesirable double bond isomerization. An efficient, general and mild kinetic resolution with readily accessible and fully recyclable cinchona alkaloid catalysts has been developed to provide a reliably useful approach toward optically active beta,gamma-unsaturated amino acids.

Abstract
Alpha,alpha-diaryl(dialkyl)prolinol ethers constitute a potent organocatalyst family which has been shown to be very general for a broad range of reactions involving enamine and iminium ion activation or a combination of both. The reactions are characterized by an efficient steric control approach and can lead to a variety of alpha-, beta-, gamma-, and alpha,beta-functionalized carbonyl compounds with excellent stereocontrol. As a full expression of their catalytic activity, these compounds are also excellent promoters of elegant cascade processes and valuable catalysts in water-compatible systems.

Abstract
Catalysis with chiral secondary amines (asymmetric aminocatalysis) has become a well-established and powerful synthetic tool for the chemo- and enantioselective functionalization of carbonyl compounds. In the last eight years alone, this field has grown at such an extraordinary pace that it is now recognized as an independent area of synthetic chemistry, where the goal is the preparation of any chiral molecule in an efficient, rapid, and stereoselective manner. This has been made possible by the impressive level of scientific competition and high quality research generated in this area. This Review describes this "Asymmetric Aminocatalysis Gold Rush" and charts the milestones in its development. As in all areas of science, progress depends on human effort.
