Abstract
(Diene)Rh(I) complexes catalyze the stereoselective three-component coupling of silyl glyoxylates, arylboronic acids, and aldehydes to give glycolate aldol products. The participation of Rh-alkoxides in the requisite Brook rearrangement was established through two component Rh-catalyzed couplings of silyl glyoxylates with ArB(OH)2 to give silyl-protected mandelate derivatives. The intermediacy of a chiral Rh-enolate was inferred through enantioselective protonation using a chiral Rh-catalyst. Diastereoselective three-component couplings with aldehydes as terminating electrophiles to give racemic products were best achieved with a bulky aryl ester on the silyl glyoxylate reagent. Optimal enantioselective couplings were carried out with the tert-butyl ester variant using an anisole-derived enantiopure tricyclo[3.2.2.02,4 ]nonadiene ligand.

Abstract
An unprecedented union of multi-component reactions to construct pyrazole- and pyranopyrazole-adorned 4H-chromene from simple reactants in water at ambient temperature is reported. This innovative tactic has integrated two distinct four-component reactions (4CRs) that occur transiently to form four new heterocycles via ten covalent bonds in a single step. A union of multi-component reactions to construct pyrazole- and pyranopyrazole-adorned 4H-chromene from simple reactants in water at RT is reported. 2 distinct four-component reactions occur transiently to form 4 new heterocycles via 10 covalent bonds in a single step.![]()

Abstract
An efficient and convenient methodology for catalyst-free cross-dehydrogenative coupling of imidazoheterocycles with glyoxal hydrates in good yields was developed. This methodology exhibits a broad substrate scope and excellent functional group tolerance and offers a straightforward means to produce different heterocycles such as imidazoheterocyclic quinoxaline, imidazoheterocyclic hydantoin and imidazoheterocyclic α-keto ketamine under relatively mild conditions. Biological evaluation showed that the most potent compound 3m possesses significant in vitro antiproliferative activities against human-derived lung cancer cell lines with an IC50 value of 14.8 μM.

Abstract
A novel copper-catalyzed N-oxide oxidation of N-sulfonyl ynamides is disclosed. This non-noble metal-catalyzed protocol enables facile and efficient access to valuable α-keto imides in generally good to excellent yields. Other notable features of this method include widespread availability of the substrates, compatibility with broad functional groups, a simple procedure, mild conditions, and in particular, no need to exclude moisture or air ("open flask").

Abstract
Novel sequential 1,2-Brook/Wittig reactions were developed for the preparation of silyl enol ethers. This method enables highly selective preparation of both geometric isomers of glyoxylate silyl enol ethers, using aldehydes (E-selective) and tosylimines (Z-selective) as a Wittig electrophile. The salt-free conditions of this reaction system are likely to be advantageous for switching the selectivity. The optimal reaction conditions and generality of the reaction were investigated, and plausible explanations for the observed selectivity were also discussed.

Abstract
An iodine-mediated synthesis of 3-acylbenzothiadizine 1,1-dioxides is described. A range of electronically diverse acetophenones reacted well with several 2-aminobenzenesulfonamides, affording 3-acylbenzothiadiazine 1,1-dioxides in good yields.

Abstract
A diastereoselective auxiliary-mediated vinylation/[1,2]-Brook rearrangement/vinylogous Michael cascade of silyl glyoximide, vinylmagnesium bromide, and nitroalkenes is described. The reaction occurs with complete regio- and diastereocontrol in good yield. The diastereoselectivity is induced by a rare instance of 1,7-chirality transfer that is hypothesized to arise from a trans-multihetero-decalin transition state.

Abstract
A silyllithium-initiated coupling of α-ketoamides with tert-butanesulfinylimines was developed for the efficient, stereoselective synthesis of enantioenriched α-(silyloxy)-β-amino amides. Nucleophilic addition of silyllithium to α-ketoamides, followed by 1,2-Brook rearrangement, generates nucleophilic enolates, which are then intercepted by chiral imines to provide three-component coupling products. Use of α-ketoamides is critical for achieving high yields and diastereoselectivities in the resulting α-hydroxy-β-amino acid derivatives.

Abstract
The Ru-catalyzed alkene-alkyne coupling reaction has been demonstrated to be an enabling methodology for the synthesis of complex molecules. However, to date, it has been limited to monosubstituted olefins. Herein we report the first general utilization of disubstituted olefins in the Ru-catalyzed alkene-alkyne coupling reaction by employing carbamate directing groups. The products are stereodefined trisusbstituted enecarbamates. The elaboration of these structures toward the asymmetric synthesis of complex aminocyclopentitols and 1,2-amino alcohols is discussed.

Abstract
An efficient method has been developed for the enantioselective synthesis of fully protected α-quaternary α-hydroxy-β-amino esters via the coupling of three components: aryl Grignard reagents (or methyllithium), silyl glyoxylate, and N-tert-butanesulfinyl imines. This protocol enables successive formation of two C-C bonds and two adjacent chiral carbons with high stereocontrol in a one-pot operation.

Abstract
Structurally well-defined bimetallic titanium(IV) (salen) and monometallic vanadium(V) (salen) complexes have been used as catalysts for the asymmetric addition of trimethylsilyl cyanide to β-nitroalkenes to produce chiral nitronitriles with ee values in the range of 79–89 % and conversions up to 100 % at 0 °C. The reaction conditions (solvent, temperature, time and vanadium complex counter-ion) were optimised, and it was shown that the catalyst loading could be significantly reduced (20 to 2 mol %) and the reaction temperature increased (−40 to 0 °C) compared to previous studies that used an in situ prepared catalyst. The results are compared and contrasted with previous results obtained by using the same catalysts for the asymmetric addition of trimethylsilyl cyanide to aldehydes, and a transition-state structure for the asymmetric addition of trimethylsilyl cyanide to nitroalkenes is proposed to account for the observed stereochemistry.

Abstract
A silyl glyoxylate three-component-coupling methodology has been exploited to achieve a formal synthesis, an analogue to an intermediate in a distinct formal synthetic route, and a third (unique) approach to the natural product alternaric acid. Highlighted in this study is the versatility of silyl glyoxylates to engage a variety of nucleophile and electrophile pairs to provide wide latitude in the approach to complex molecule synthesis.
