Abstract
While titanacyclopropanes are used to react mainly with ester, amide, and cyano to undergo cyclopropanation, herein they react preferentially with pyridine N-oxide to accomplish C2-H alkylation beyond these functionalities with double regioselectivity. After being pyridylated at the less hindered C-Ti bond, the remaining C-Ti bond of titanacyclopropanes can be further functionalized by various electrophiles, allowing facile introduction of complex alkyls onto the C2 of pyridines. Its synthetic potential has been demonstrated by late-stage diversification of drugs.

Abstract
A straightforward electrochemical protocol for efficient hydrogenation of unsaturated CC bonds has been reported in an undivided cell. A series of versatile 1,4-diketones are smoothly generated under metal-free and external-reductant-free electrolytic conditions. Moreover, the tolerance of various functional groups and decagram-scale experiments have shown the practicability and potential applications of this methodology. Moreover, a range of heterocyclic compounds were easily prepared through follow-up procedures of 1,4-diketones.

Abstract
Titanium enolates, in situ-generated from readily available ketones and titanium tetraisopropoxide, undergo domino cross-coupling/cyclodehydration or domino Aldol-addition/cyclocondensation with α-chloroketones to provide synthetically valuable furan derivatives. The domino process tolerates a variety of cyclic and acyclic ketones and chloroketones, producing polysubstituted furans and bi-, tri-, and tetracyclic fused furans.

Abstract
Herein we report a photocatalytic oxidative radical addition reaction for the synthesis of unsymmetrical 1,4-dicarbonyl compounds. This reaction utilizes a desulfurization process to generate electrophilic radicals, which add to α-halogenated alkenes and undergo further oxidation to deliver 1,4-dicarbonyl compounds. This mild and highly efficient method provides a valuable alternative to known strategies.

Abstract
Ethoxycarbonyl cyanohydrins and O-acyl cyanohydrins are examples of O-protected cyanohydrins in which the protecting group presents an electrophilic center, contributing to additional reaction pathways. The first section of this review describes recent advances on the synthesis of O-ethoxycarbonyl and O-acyl protected cyanohydrins. Reactions using KCN or alkyl cyanoformates as the cyanide ion source are described, as well as organic and transition metal catalysis used in their preparation, including asymmetric cyanation. In a second part, transformations, and synthetic applications of O-ethoxycarbonyl/acyl cyanohydrins are presented. A variety of structures has been obtained starting from such protected cyanohydrins and, in particular, the synthesis of oxazoles, 1,4-diketones, 1,3-diketones, 2-vinyl-2-cyclopentenones through various methods are discussed.

Abstract
Herein, a divergent synthesis of a variety of 2α- and 5α-substituted furan derivatives from 2-hydroxy-1,4-diones is reported. By using appropriate substrates and an acid catalyst, the reactions occurred selectively through cyclization/1,6-conjugate addition or cyclization/Friedel-Crafts-type cascade reactions. A broad range of nucleophilic reagents (>10 types for the 1,6-conjugate addition for 5α substitution and >20 types for the Friedel-Crafts-type cascade reaction for 2α substitution), including alcohols, amides, furan, thiophene, pyrrole, indole, phenols, and many others, can successfully participate in the reactions, providing a universal strategy for a diversity-oriented synthesis of α-substituted furan derivatives. Deuteriation experiments and DFT calculations were carried out to support the proposed reaction mechanisms. Antifungal activity experiments revealed that products with an indole or 4-hydroxycoumarin core substituted at the 2α position showed moderate activities against Rhizoctorzia solani and Botrytis cinerea, respectively.

Abstract
We report the development of a photocatalytic strategy for the synthesis of β-functionalized unsymmetrical 1,4-, 1-6 and 1,7-diketones from aroyl chlorides and unactivated alkenes at room temperature. The mild reaction conditions not only tolerate a wide range of functional groups and structural moieties, but also enable migration of a variety of distal groups including (hetero)arenes, nitrile, aldehyde, oxime-derivative, and alkene. The efficiency of chirality transfer, factors that control the distal-group migration, and synthesis of carbo- and heterocycles from the diketones are also described. Mechanistic studies suggest a reaction pathway involving a photocatalytic radical aroylation of unactivated alkenes followed by a distal-group migration, oxidation, and deprotonation to afford the desired diketones.

Abstract
Synthesis of the valuable unsymmetric 1,8-dicarbonyl compounds remains underexplored currently. Herein, we disclose a new strategy for the synthesis of 1,8-diketones through the coupling of cyclopropanols and cyanohydrins under visible-light irradiation. The protocol features a cascade of intriguing ring opening of cyclopropanols and remote cyano migration. The unfavorable addition of an alkyl radical to an electron-rich alkene is facilitated by the intramolecular cyanohydrin interception. A variety of multiply functionalized 1,8-diketones are furnished in useful yields. The products could be further transformed into other valuable compounds, manifesting the utility of this method.

Abstract
The repertoire of synthetic transformations of the products of the Achmatowicz rearrangement has been expanded by exploring their reactivity with potassium organotrifluoroborates in the absence of transition metals. Depending on the reaction conditions and the substitution pattern of the starting material, the reaction may lead to the stereoselective synthesis of dihydropyranones (2,6- trans), tetrahydropyranones (2,3- cis-2,6- cis) or functionalized 1,4-dicarbonyl compounds. The method has also been adapted for the one-pot synthesis of functionalized pyrroles.

Abstract
A novel I2-mediated benzannulation of 1,7-diyne-involved 1,4-oxo-migration was established, providing unexpected 1-aroyl-2-naphthaldehydes. The resulting 1-aroyl-2-naphthaldehydes were successfully applied in the synthesis of polycyclic isoindoles.

Abstract
The concise building of the spiroketal core of acortatarin-type alkaloids as potential therapeutic agents in diabetic nephropathy was established in four steps, through a tandem N-alkylation/hemiacetalization between pyrrole units and the corresponding halo alcohols generated by convenient halomethylation of chiral lactones from natural aldoses.
