Abstract
We report enantioselective ring-openings of oxabicyclic alkenes with azole nucleophiles, generating heterocycle-bearing dihydronaphthalene products. Pyrazoles, triazoles, tetrazoles, and benzo-fused derivatives participate in the ring-opening, with the level of regioselectivity depending on the type and substitution pattern of the heterocyclic partner. Electron-withdrawing azole substituents have a beneficial effect, suppressing the unproductive complexation of a nitrogen with the Rh(I)-bis(phosphine) catalyst.

Abstract
A PdII -catalyzed, domino enantioselective desymmetrizative coupling of 7-azabenzonorbornadienes with alkynylanilines is disclosed herein. This operationally simple transformation generates three covalent bonds and two contiguous stereocenters with excellent enantio- and diastereo-selectivity. The resulting functionalized indole-dihydronaphthalene-amine conjugates served as an appealing platform to streamline the diversity-oriented synthesis (DOS) of other valuable enantioenriched compounds. DFT calculations revealed that the two stabilizing non-covalent interactions contributed to the observed enantioselectivity.

Abstract
Spirooxindoles have emerged as promising architectures for engineering biologically active compounds. The diastereodivergent construction of unique scaffolds of this type with full control of continuous chiral centers including an all-carbon quaternary stereogenic center is yet to be developed. Here, we report an unprecedented diastereodivergent desymmetric [3 + 3] annulation of oxabicyclic alkenes with enals enabled by N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)/Rh cooperative catalysis, leading to a series of enantiomerically enriched spirooxindole lactones with excellent enantioselectivities (up to >99% ee) and diastereoselectivities (up to >95:5 dr). The combined catalyst system comprises a rhodium complex that controls the configuration at the electrophilic carbon and an NHC catalyst that controls the configuration at the nucleophilic oxindole-containing carbon; thus, four stereoisomers of the spirooxindole products can be readily obtained simply by switching the configurations of the two chiral catalysts. Transformations of the chiral spirooxindoles delivered synthetically useful compounds. Importantly, those chiral spirooxindoles arrested mammalian cells in mitosis and exhibited potent antiproliferative activities against HeLa cells. Significantly, both absolute and relative configurations exert prominent effects on the bioactivities, underscoring great importance of catalytic asymmetric diastereodivergent synthesis beyond creating useful tools for the exploration of structure-activity relationships.

Abstract
The first enantioselective carbometalation reaction of azabicycloalkenes has been achieved by iron catalysis to in situ form optically active organozinc intermediates, which are amenable to further synthetic elaborations. The observed chiral induction, along with the DFT and XAS analyses, reveals the direct coordination of the chiral phosphine ligand to the iron centre during the carbon-carbon and carbon-metal bond forming step. This new class of iron-catalysed asymmetric reaction will contribute to the synthesis and production of bioactive molecules.

Abstract
A three-component method is described for the preparation of syn-1,2-disubstituted bridged bicyclic compounds. The reaction was demonstrated for readily available aromatic and heteroaromatic C-H bond substrates with tertiary and secondary amide, lactam, pyrazole, and triazole directing groups and a variety of bridged bicyclic alkenes, including norbornene, benzonorbornadiene, oxygen- and nitrogen-bridged analogs, and an unsaturated tropinone. A broad dioxazolone scope was also observed. The use of a chiral Cp-derived RhIII catalyst enables asymmetric synthesis of products.

Abstract
We describe a copper-catalyzed intramolecular reductive cyclization of easily accessible benz-tethered 1,3-dienes containing a ketone moiety. This process provided biologically active 1,2-dihydronaphthalene-1-ol derivatives in good yields with excellent enantio- and diastereoselectivity. Mechanistic investigations using density functional theory revealed that (Z)- and (E)-allylcopper intermediates formed in situ from the diene and copper catalyst undergo isomerization and selective intramolecular allylation of the (E)-allylcopper form of the major product through a six-membered boatlike transition state. The resulting products were further transformed to fully saturated naphthalene-1-ols by reactions of the olefin moiety.

Abstract
A novel copper-catalyzed hydrothioetherification of oxa(aza)bicyclic alkenes with potassium thioacetate and aryl or alkyl iodides to synthesize unsymmetrical thioethers has been developed. Notably, the reaction with complete diastereoselectivity went through a syn-selective addition process to give exo-adducts. In addition, this protocol exhibited high efficiency and good functional group tolerance to afford the target thioethers in moderate to good yields. Based on the results of mechanistic investigations, a plausible mechanism was proposed.

Abstract
A novel palladium-catalyzed ring-opening reaction of oxabicyclic alkenes with arylsulfonyl hydrazides was first developed. In this work, we provide an efficient one-pot reaction to afford the corresponding cis-2-aryl-1,2-dihydronaphthalen-1-ols and 2-aryl-naphthalenes in moderate to excellent yields (up to 95%) under an open-air condition. Various types of functional groups attached to the substrates were tolerated well in this method. Among them, the cis-1,2-configuration of product 3ag was confirmed by X-ray crystallographic analysis. In addition, a plausible mechanism for ring opening was also proposed.

Abstract
Herein, the introduction of oxa- and azabenzonorbornadienes into photoredox/nickel dual catalysis in a regioselective and diastereoselective transformation is disclosed. The inherent advantages of this dual catalytic system allow the use of alkyl motifs forming exclusively cis-1,2-dihydro-1-naphthyl alcohol backbones using readily accessible 4-alkyl-1,4-dihydropyridines (DHPs). Whereas previous studies have emphasized the use of nucleophilic organometallic coupling partners, this protocol grants access to a rather unexplored core featuring alkyl residues, while avoiding the use of highly reactive organometallic species (i.e., M = Al, Mg, Li, Zn, Zr). DFT calculations support a oxidative addition/reductive elimination mechanism, followed by a Curtin-Hammett scenario that controls the regioselectivity of the process, unlike previously reported transformations that proceed via a carbometalation/ β-oxygen elimination mechanism.

Abstract
Asymmetric addition of diarylphosphines to oxa- and azabicyclic alkenes proceeded in the presence of a chiral phosphapalladacycle catalyst and a mild acid at room temperature to give exclusively the enantioenriched addition products in excellent yields and good selectivities. Three new chiral carbon centers were generated stereoselectively by the catalytic hydrophosphination reaction.

Abstract
We describe the development of an arenophile-mediated, nickel-catalyzed dearomative trans-1,2-carboamination protocol. A range of readily available aromatic compounds was converted to the corresponding dienes using Grignard reagents as nucleophiles. This strategy provided products with exclusive trans-selectivity and high enantioselectivity was observed in case of benzene and naphthalene. The utility of this methodology was showcased by controlled and stereoselective preparation of small, functionalized molecules.

Abstract
Gold(I)-catalyzed cycloisomerization of enynols 11 and 17, obtained by Sonogashira coupling, led to the tethered enoate-substituted furans 14 and 19. While attempts at thermal and several Lewis acid induced intramolecular Diels-Alder reactions remained fruitless, dialkylaluminum chloride led to the formation of hexahydroindene and octahydronaphthalene derivatives 20-23. Their formation can be explained by Lewis acid induced opening of the epoxy bridge with transfer of one alkyl group to the intermediate cycloadduct.

Abstract
Enantioselective allylic substitution with enolates derived from aliphatic esters under mild conditions remains challenging. Herein we report iridium-catalyzed enantioselective allylation reactions of silyl ketene acetals, the silicon enolates of esters, to form products containing a quaternary carbon atom at the nucleophile moiety and a tertiary carbon atom at the electrophile moiety. Under relatively neutral conditions, the allylated aliphatic esters were obtained with excellent regioselectivity and enantioselectivity. These products were readily converted into primary alcohols, carboxylic acids, amides, isocyanates, and carbamates, as well as tetrahydrofuran and γ-butyrolactone derivatives, without erosion of enantiomeric purity.

Abstract
The origin of the enantio- and regioselectivity of ring-opening reaction of oxabicyclic alkenes catalyzed by rhodium/Josiphos has been examined using M06-2X density functional theory(DFT). DFT calculations predict a 98% ee for the enantioselectivity and only the 1,2-trans product as one regio- and diastereomer, in excellent agreement with experimental results. The solvent tetrahydrofuran(THF) plays a key role in assisting nucleophilic attack. Orbital composition analysis of the LUMO and the NPA atomic charge calculations were conducted to probe the origins of the regioselectivity. The orbital composition analysis reveals two potential electrophilic sites of the Rh-π-allyl intermediate M3 and the NPA atomic charges demonstrate that Cα carries more positive charges than Cγ, which suggests that Cα is the electrophilic site.

Abstract
Iridium-catalyzed asymmetric ring-opening of oxabenzonorbornadienes with N-substituted piperazines was described. The reaction afforded the corresponding ring-opening products in high yields and moderate enantioselectivities in the presence of 2.5 mol % [Ir(COD)Cl]₂ and 5.0 mol % (S)-p-Tol-BINAP. The effects of various chiral bidentate ligands, catalyst loading, solvent, and temperature on the yield and enantioselectivity were also investigated. A plausible mechanism was proposed to account for the formation of the corresponding trans-ring opened products based on the X-ray structure of product 2i.

Abstract
While anthrones exist as privileged scaffolds in bioactive molecules, the enantioselective functionalization of anthrones is surprisingly scarce in the literature, with no asymmetric transition metal catalyzed example to date. Herein, we report the first asymmetric transition metal catalyzed benzylic functionalization of anthrones through the rhodium(I) catalyzed desymmetrization of oxabicycles. As previously developed rhodium(I) systems were found to be unsuitable for this substrate, a new robust fourth-generation [Rh(cod)OH]2 based catalytic system was developed to address synthetic challenges in this protocol.
