Abstract
A PdII -catalyzed, domino enantioselective desymmetrizative coupling of 7-azabenzonorbornadienes with alkynylanilines is disclosed herein. This operationally simple transformation generates three covalent bonds and two contiguous stereocenters with excellent enantio- and diastereo-selectivity. The resulting functionalized indole-dihydronaphthalene-amine conjugates served as an appealing platform to streamline the diversity-oriented synthesis (DOS) of other valuable enantioenriched compounds. DFT calculations revealed that the two stabilizing non-covalent interactions contributed to the observed enantioselectivity.

Abstract
Aminoboration of simple alkenes with nitrogen nucleophiles remains an unsolved problem in synthetic chemistry; this transformation can be catalyzed by palladium via aminopalladation followed by transmetalation with a diboron reagent. However, this catalytic process faces inherent challenges with instability of the alkylpalladium(II) intermediate toward β-hydride elimination. Herein, we report a palladium/iron cocatalyzed aminoboration, which enables this transformation. We demonstrate these conditions on a variety of alkenes and norbornenes with an array of common nitrogen nucleophiles. In the developed strategy, the iron cocatalyst is crucial to achieving the desired reactivity by serving as a halophilic Lewis acid to release the transmetalation-active cationic alkylpalladium intermediate. Furthermore, it serves as a redox shuttle in the regeneration of the Pd(II) catalyst by reactivation of nanoparticulate palladium.

Abstract
Aminoboronic acid derivatives can serve as versatile synthetic intermediates and pharmacophores but remain difficult to synthesize. Herein we report a synthesis of the β-aminoboronic acid motif via anti-Markovnikov hydroamination of vinylboronates. This reaction benefits from the activating effect of the boronate substituent and forms novel BON-containing heterocycles, oxazaborolidine zwitterions. A computational study is included to help determine the effects of alkene boron substitution. Derivatization reactions also support the synthetic utility of the oxazaborolidine adducts.

Abstract
A copper-catalysed regio- and diastereoselective borylamination of α,β-unsaturated esters with B2pin2 and hydroxylamines has been developed to deliver acyclic β-boryl-α-amino acid derivatives with high anti-diastereoselectivity (up to >99 : 1), which is difficult to obtain by the established methods. A chiral phosphoramidite ligand also successfully induces the enantioselectivity, giving the optically active β-borylated α-amino acids. The products can be stereospecifically transformed into β-functionalised α-amino acids, which are of potent interest in medicinal chemistry.

Abstract
An unprecedented synthetic strategy is devised to generate β-aminoboronic acids from aziridines via a sequential process involving 1,2-iodoamine formation and radical borylation under light irradiation. A variety of aziridines including multiply substituted aziridines have been successfully employed as synthetic precursors, expanding their synthetic utility compared to previous methods. Mechanistic studies suggest that the boron source plays a unique role in the borylation step, and in the formation of haloamine intermediates.

Abstract
Nitrogen (N) is ubiquitously found in bioactive molecules, pharmaceutical agents, and organic functional materials. Accordingly, development of new C-N bond-forming catalysis has been one of the long-standing research subjects in synthetic organic chemistry. In this Perspective, recent advances in highly selective amination reactions with electrophilic amination reagents are described: by taking advantage of the concept of nitrogen umpolung, otherwise challenging aminofunctionalizations, such as hydroamination, aminoboration, and carboamination, of readily available feedstock-like alkenes and alkynes are possible, giving densely functionalized complex and often chiral alkylamines with high selectivity. The scope, limitations, and reaction mechanism are briefly summarized.

Abstract
This review discusses recent advances in the chemistry of saturated boronic acids, boronates, and trifluoroborates. Applications of the title compounds in the design of boron-containing drugs are surveyed, with special emphasis on α-amino boronic derivatives. A general overview of saturated boronic compounds as modern tools to construct C(sp3 )-C and C(sp3 )-heteroatom bonds is given, including recent developments in the Suzuki-Miyaura and Chan-Lam cross-couplings, single-electron-transfer processes including metallo- and organocatalytic photoredox reactions, and transformations of boron "ate" complexes. Finally, an attempt to summarize the current state of the art in the synthesis of saturated boronic acids, boronates, and trifluoroborates is made, with a brief mention of the "classical" methods (transmetallation of organolithium/magnesium reagents with boron species, anti-Markovnikov hydroboration of alkenes, and the modification of alkenyl boron compounds) and a special focus on recent methodologies (boronation of alkyl (pseudo)halides, derivatives of carboxylic acids, alcohols, and primary amines, boronative C-H activation, novel approaches to alkene hydroboration, and 1,2-metallate-type rearrangements).

Abstract
Electronically unbiased arylcyclopropane functionalization has always been a challenge to organic chemists, and the emergence of donor-acceptor cyclopropanes (DACs) has not only vehemently overshadowed them but still dominates the cyclopropane chemistry. Unlike DACs, the absence of pre-installed functional groups makes it harder for them to activate and participate in a reaction. The field has witnessed considerably slow progress since its inception due to the inherent challenges. There are only a few strategies available to open arylcyclopropanes. Therefore, this work is still in its infancy stage in spite of these materials being one of the earliest known type of cyclopropanes. This review manifests the history, endeavors, and achievements alongside the associated challenges, opportunities, and the need for concerted efforts to accomplish the long-awaited golden age of arylcyclopropanes.

Abstract
An efficient transition-metal-free cyclizing radical aminoboration of unactivated alkenes is reported. The B2(OH)4 reagent was used as the boron source, and the interaction between B2(OH)4 and an aryloxyamide N-radical precursor enabled the chain reaction to be initiated upon irradiation in the absence of any catalyst. This transformation proceeds via cyclization of an N-radical with subsequent intermolecular C-radical borylation. The cascade shows a broad scope and provides a wide range of high-value cyclic 1,2-aminoboronic esters.

Abstract
An unprecedented and general hydroboration of alkenes with BX3 (X=Br, Cl) as the boration reagent in the presence of i Pr2 NEt is reported. The addition of i Pr2 NEt not only suppresses alkene polymerization and haloboration side reactions but also provides an "H" source for hydroboration. More importantly, the site-fixed installation of a boryl group at the original position of the internal double bond is readily achieved in contrast to conventional transition-metal-catalyzed hydroboration processes. Further application to the synthesis of 1,n-diborylalkanes (n=3-10) is also demonstrated. Preliminary mechanistic studies reveal a major reaction pathway that involves radical species and operates through a frustrated Lewis pair type single-electron-transfer mechanism.

Abstract
Reported herein is the pyrazole-directed iridium-catalyzed enantioselective borylation of unbiased methylene C-H bonds at the position β to a nitrogen center. The combination of a chiral bidentate boryl ligand, iridium precursor, and pyrazole directing group was responsible for the high regio- and enantioselectivity observed. The method tolerated a vast array of functional groups to afford the corresponding C(sp3 )-H functionalization products with good to excellent enantioselectivity.

Abstract
In contrast to previously reported borylative heterocyclization methods, a reaction here proceeds without air-free techniques to access synthetically useful borylated thiophenes, benzothiophenes, and isocoumarins. A comparison of stability/decomposition rates in air of several catecholboronic ester (Bcat) compounds derived from different heterocycle cores showed a strong dependence on the heterocycle structure. Lessons learned from this comparison were then harnessed for the development of borylative heterocyclization reactions under ambient-atmosphere conditions and with wet solvent. In contrast to literature reports suggesting general moisture sensitivity, a subset of Bcat products resulting from this technique were chromatography-stable and directly isolable, obviating the requirement for an extra synthetic transformation into more stable boron species, such as pinacolboronic esters (Bpin), for isolation. The isolated Bcat products were amenable to various downstream functionalization reactions, including reactions that were not accessible with their better-known Bpin counterparts, showing the complementarity of Bcat reaction partners and expanding their known chemistry. These results suggest the value of conceptual revisitation of substitution and solvent influence on stability and isolability of organo-Bcat compound classes and lay the groundwork for development of additional practical borylative methods in air.

Abstract
BCl3 -induced borylative cyclization of aryl-alkynes possessing ortho-EMe (E=S, O) groups represents a simple, metal-free method for the formation of C3-borylated benzothiophenes and benzofurans. The dichloro(heteroaryl)borane primary products can be protected to form synthetically ubiquitous pinacol boronate esters or used in situ in Suzuki-Miyaura cross couplings to generate 2,3-disubstituted heteroarenes from simple alkyne precursors in one pot. In a number of cases alkyne trans-haloboration occurs alongside, or instead of, borylative cyclization and the factors controlling the reaction outcome are determined.

Abstract
The first ring-forming thioboration reaction of C-C π bonds is reported. This catalyst-free method proceeds in the presence of a commercially available external electrophilic boron source (B-chlorocatecholborane) in good to high yields. The method is scalable and tolerates a variety of functional groups that are intolerant of other major borylation methods. The resulting borylated benzothiophenes participate in a variety of in situ derivatization reactions, showcasing that these borylated intermediates do not need to be isolated prior to downstream functionalization. This methodology has been extended to the synthesis of borylated dihydrothiophenes. Mechanistic experiments suggest that the operative mechanistic pathway is through boron-induced activation of the alkyne followed by electrophilic cyclization, as opposed to S-B σ bond formation, providing a mechanistically distinct pathway to the thioboration of C-C π bonds.

Abstract
A catalyst-free oxyboration reaction of alkynes is developed. The resulting borylated isocoumarins and 2-pyrones are isolated as boronic acids, pinacolboronate esters, or potassium organotrifluoroborate salts, providing a variety of bench-stable organoboron building blocks for downstream functionalization. This method has functional group compatibility, is scalable, and proceeds with readily available materials: B-chlorocatecholborane and methyl esters. Mechanistic studies indicate that the B-chlorocatecholborane acts as a carbophilic Lewis acid toward the alkyne, providing a mechanistically distinct pathway for oxyboration that avoids B-O σ bond formation and enables this catalyst-free route.
