Abstract
In comparison to traditional antioxidant treatment methods, the use of hydrogen to eliminate reactive oxygen species from the body has the advantages of high biological safety, strong selectivity, and high clearance rate. As an energy storage material, metal hydrides have been extensively studied and used in transporting hydrogen as clean energy, which can achieve a high hydrogen load and controlled hydrogen release. Considering the antioxidant properties of hydrogen and the delivery ability of metal hydrides, metal-hydride-based disease treatment strategies have attracted widespread attention. Up to now, metal hydrides have been reported for the treatment of tumors and a range of inflammation-related diseases. However, limited by the insufficient investment, the use of metal hydrides in disease treatment still has many shortcomings, such as low targeting efficiency, limited therapeutic activity, and complex material preparation process. Particularly, metal hydrides have been found to have a series of optical, acoustic, and catalytic properties when scaled up to the nanoscale, and these properties are also widely used to promote disease treatment effects. From this new perspective, we comprehensively summarize the very recent research progress on metal-hydride-based disease treatment in this review. Ultimately, the challenges and prospects of such a burgeoning cancer theranostics modality are outlooked to provide inspiration for the further development and clinical translation of metal hydrides.

Abstract
FRET pairs involving up to three different Bodipy dyes are utilized to provide information on the assembly/disassembly of organometallic complexes. Azolium salts tagged with chemically robust and photostable blue or green or red fluorescent Bodipy, respectively, were synthesized and the azolium salts used to prepare metal complexes [(NHC_blue)ML], [(NHC_green)ML] and [(NHC_red)ML] (ML = Pd(allyl)Cl, IrCl(cod), RhCl(cod), AuCl, Au(NTf2), CuBr). The blue and the green Bodipy and the green and the red Bodipy, respectively, were designed to allow the formation of efficient FRET pairs with minimal cross-talk. Organometallic dyads formed from two subunits enable the transfer of excitation energy from the donor dye to the acceptor dye. The blue, green and red emission provide three information channels on the formation of complexes, which is demonstrated for alkyne or sulfur bridged digold species and for ion pairing of a red fluorescent cation and a green fluorescent anion. This approach is extended to probe an assembly of three different subunits. In such a triad, each component is tagged with either a blue, a green or a red Bodipy and the energy transfer blue →green → red proves the formation of the triad. The tagging of molecular components with robust fluorophores can be a general strategy in (organometallic) chemistry to establish connectivities for binuclear catalyst resting states and binuclear catalyst decomposition products in homogeneous catalysis.

Abstract
Complexes of RhI and IrI of the [M(COD)(NHC)X] type (where M=Rh or Ir, COD=1,5-cyclooctadiene, NHC=N-heterocyclic carbene, and X=halide) have recently shown promising cytotoxic activities against several cancer cell lines. Initial mechanism of action studies provided some knowledge about their interaction with DNA and proteins. However, information about their cellular localization remains scarce owing to luminescence quenching within this complex type. Herein, the synthesis of two rare examples of luminescent RhI and IrI [M(COD)(NHC)I] complexes with 1,8-naphthalimide-based emitting ligands is reported. All new complexes are comprehensively characterized, including with single-crystal X-ray structures. Steric crowding in one derivative leads to two distinct rotamers in solution, which apparently can be distinguished both by pronounced NMR shifts and by their respective spectral and temporal emission signatures. When the photophysical properties of these new complexes are exploited for cellular imaging in HT-29 and PT-45 cancer cell lines, it is demonstrated that the complexes accumulate predominantly in the endoplasmic reticulum, which is an entirely new finding and provides the first insight into the cellular localization of such IrI (NHC) complexes.

Abstract
This report describes the implementation of a 4,4-difluoro-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacene (BODIPY) dye into the ligand framework of a Rh-based catalyst. The redox-active nature of the BODIPY dye is utilized to generate a catalyst that is capable of exhibiting redox-switchable catalytic behavior for the hydroboration of alkenes through a BODIPY-based reduction.
