Abstract
Dpp-imines are classic model substrates for synthetic method studies. Here, we disclose their powerful use as achiral coligands in metal-catalyzed reactions. It is highly interesting to find that the Dpp-imine can not only act as powerful ligand to create excellent chiral pockets with magnesium complexes but also, more importantly, this coligand can dramatically enhance the catalytic ability of the metal catalyst. The underlying reaction mechanism was extensively explored by conducting a series of experiments, including 31P NMR studies of the coordination complex between the Dpp-imine coligand and magnesium complexes, ESI capture results, multiple control experiments, studies and comparison of different coligands, 1H NMR studies on the relationship between the substrate and Dpp-imine coligand, as well as the relationship between the substrate and the full complexes. Furthermore, DFT calculation provided valuable insights in the role of the imine additive and demonstrated that adding the Dpp-imine coligand in the magnesium catalyst can switch the deprotonation/nucleophilic addition steps from a stepwise mechanism to a concerted process during the oxa-cyclization reaction. The crucial factors responsible for the excellent enantioselectivity and enhanced reaction efficiency brought by Dpp-imine have been extracted from the calculation model. These mechanistic experiments and DFT calculation data clearly disclose and prove the powerful and interesting functions of the Dpp-imine coligand, which also direct a novel application of this type of active imine as useful ligands in metal-catalyzed asymmetric reactions.

Abstract
A chiral imidazolidine-containing NCN-pincer Pd-OTf complex (NCN-Pd cat) promoted the asymmetric nucleophilic addition of unprotected 2-vinylindoles to N-Boc imines in a Friedel-Crafts-type manner. The chiral (2-vinyl-1H-indol-3-yl)methanamine products become nice platforms for constructing multiple ring systems.

Abstract
The enantioselective aza-Friedel-Crafts reaction is one of the most straightforward and efficient strategies for constructing a new carbon-carbon bond bearing quaternary stereocenter in organic synthesis, but the catalytic asymmetric aza-Friedel-Crafts reaction of naphthols/phenols with cyclic-ketimines attached to a neutral functional group remains still relatively unexplored. Herein, a highly enantioselective aza-Friedel-Crafts reaction of cyclic-ketimines and naphthols/phenols has been realized using a chiral phosphoric acid catalyst. A variety of chiral aminonaphthols (chiral indolin-3-ones) containing a quaternary stereocenter at the C2 position were obtained with excellent outcomes (up to 97% yield, 98% ee). Moreover, the synthetic utility of the enantiomerically enriched chiral aminonaphthols was demonstrated in some efficient transformations. According to the experimental results, a possible transition state model has been proposed to rationalize the origin of asymmetric induction.

Abstract
N,O-acetals are part of many synthetic intermediates and important skeletons of numerous natural products and pharmaceutical drugs. The most straightforward method of the synthesis of N,O-acetals is the enantioselective addition of O-nucleophiles to imines. However, using this method for the synthesis of linear chiral N,O-ketals still remains challenging due to the instability of raw materials under acidic or basic conditions. Herein, we developed a Cu-catalyzed asymmetric addition of alcohols to β,γ-alkynyl-α-imino esters under mild conditions, providing the corresponding linear chiral N,O-ketals with up to 96% ee. The method tolerates some variation in the β,γ-alkynyl-α-imino ester and alcohol scope, including some glucose and natural amino acid derivatives. Computational results indicate that the Boc group of the substrates assist in the extraction of hydrogen atoms from the alcohols to promote the addition reactions. These products could be synthesized on a gram-scale and can be used in several transformations. This asymmetric addition system provides an efficient, mild, gram-scale, and transition-metal-catalyzed synthesis of linear chiral N,O-ketals. N,O-acetals are part of many synthetic intermediates and important skeletons of numerous natural products and pharmaceutical drugs. Here the authors show a Cu-catalyzed asymmetric addition of alcohols to β,γ-alkynyl-α-imino esters, providing the corresponding linear chiral N,O-ketals with up to 96% ee.

Abstract
The chiral keto-substituted propargylamines are an essential class of multifunctional compounds in the field of organic and pharmaceutical synthesis and have attracted considerable attention, but the related synthetic approaches remain limited. Therefore, a concise and efficient method for the enantioselective synthesis of β-keto propargylamines via chiral phosphoric acid-catalyzed asymmetric Mannich reaction between β-keto acids and C-alkynyl N-Boc N,O-acetals as easily available C-alkynyl imine precursors has been demonstrated here, affording a broad scope of β-keto N-Boc-propargylamines in high yields (up to 97%) with generally high enantioselectivities (up to 97 : 3 er).

Abstract
Chiral phosphoric acid-catalyzed couplings of C-alkynyl N,N'-di-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)-aminals with β-naphthols led to chiral propargylamines in moderate to high yields with high to excellent enantioselectivity, in which the reactions underwent sequential chiral phosphoric acid-catalyzed in situ formation of N-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)-imines (N-Boc-imines) from the aminals, and 1,2-addition of β-naphthols to the N-Boc-imines. Chiral 1,2-dihydronaphtho[2,1-b]furans and naphtho[2,1-b]furans were prepared with satisfactory results when 10 mol% AgOAc and 20 mol% 2,6-lutidine or 1.2 equiv. of 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene (DBU) were added to the resulting chiral propargylamines solution, respectively.

Abstract
A SPINOL-derived chiral phosphoric acid catalyzed asymmetric formal [2 + 3]-annulation of in situ generated alkynyl imines and 1,4-dithiane-2,5-diol has been developed to afford enantiopure α-alkynylated thiazolidones with up to 72% yield and 98.5 : 1.5 er. This tandem annulation involved a tandem S-addition of alkynyl imines/intramolecular acetalization, followed by PDC-mediated oxidation. The α-alkynylated thiazolidones could facilely afford the corresponding chiral α-alkynylated or α-alkenylated cyclic sulfoxides via further elaboration.

Abstract
Chiral phosphoric acid-catalyzed biomimetic asymmetric [4 + 2] cycloaddition of ortho-alkenyl naphthols/phenols and ortho-quinone methides (o-QMs) has been demonstrated to afford various important 2,3,4-trisubstituted chromans in high yields with excellent enantio- and diastereoselectivities (up to 99% yield, 99% ee, >20:1 dr). Notably, this methodology not only enabled access to the trans-cis chiral trisubstituted chromans from 1-alkenyl 2-naphthols but also is compatible with 2-alkenyl 1-naphthols and phenols to deliver trans-trans chiral trisubstituted chromans.

Abstract
Catalytic asymmetric functionalization of the N–H groups of indoles and carbazoles constitutes an important but less developed class of reactions. Herein, we describe a propargylation protocol involving the use of a lithium SPINOL phosphate as the chiral catalyst and our recently developed C-alkynyl N,O-acetals as propargylating reagents. The direct asymmetric N-propargylation of indoles and carbazoles provides hitherto inaccessible N-functionalized products. Notably, the efficiency of the system allows reactions to be run at a very low catalyst loading (as low as 0.1 mol%). Mechanistic information about the titled reaction is also disclosed. This study represents an advance in the direct asymmetric functionalization of the N–H bonds of indoles and carbazoles, and additionally expands on the application of chiral alkali metal salts of chiral phosphoric acids in asymmetric catalysis. Asymmetric functionalization of N–H bonds constitutes an important but less developed class of reactions. Here, the authors report the asymmetric direct N-propargylation of indoles and carbazoles with a lithium SPINOL phosphate as the chiral catalyst and shed light on the reaction mechanism.

Abstract
Domino 1,4- and 1,6-addition reactions of ketene silyl acetals to dialkynyl imines are disclosed. Aluminum chloride promoted domino 1,4- and 1,6-addition reactions of ketene silyl acetals to dialkynyl imines to give a variety of alkenyl iminocyclobutenones in moderate to good yields. The chemoselective reduction of alkenyl iminocyclobutenones and the subsequent thermal rearrangement of resulting alkenyl aminocyclobutenones in the presence of appropriate amines provided cis or trans multifunctionalized β-lactams in moderate to high yields with good to high diastereoselectivities.

The intramolecular conjugated double hydrogen bond network is a key to increasing the Brønsted acidity and preventing deactivation of the catalysts. Highly functionalized α-amino acid derivatives with a chiral quaternary carbon center could be transformed into versatile optically active N- and O-heterocycles and an α-aryl-substituted serine.

Abstract
A new copper-catalyzed enantioselective aza-Freidel-Crafts reaction between phenols and N-sulfonyl aldimines that provides chiral secondary benzylamines in good to excellent yields and excellent enantioselectivities (up to 99% ee) is disclosed. In particular, excellent scope with alkylimines was observed for the first time. The synthetic utility of the products was demonstrated in the first enantioselective synthesis of a dual orexin receptor antagonist, a compound that contains an amine-bearing stereocenter adjacent to a bis- ortho-functionalized arene.

Abstract
Chiral propargyl amides are particularly useful structural units in organic synthesis. The enantioselective synthesis of propargyl amide is highly desirable. Conventional approach involves the use of a stoichiometric amount of metal reagent or chiral auxiliary. In comparison, direct alkynylation with terminal alkyne is attractive because it avoids the use of stoichiometric organometallic reagent. The asymmetric coupling of aldehyde, amine, and alkyne (A3-coupling) provides an efficient method for the synthesis of N-alkyl and N-aryl-substituted propargyl amines, but this strategy is not amenable for the direct enantioselective synthesis of propargyl amide. We have developed a new strategy and report here a Rh-catalyzed asymmetric hydroalkynylation of enamides. Alkynylations occur regioselectively at the α position of an enamide to produce chiral propargyl amides. High yield and enantioselectivity were observed. Previous alkynylation methods to prepare chiral propargyl amine involve the nucleophilic addition to an electron-deficient imine. In contrast, our current approach proceeds through regioselective hydroalkynylation of an electron-rich alkene. Kinetic studies indicated that migratory insertion of the enamide to the rhodium hydride is turnover limiting. Computational studies revealed the origin of regio- and enantioselectivities. This novel strategy provides an efficient method to access chiral propargyl amides directly from terminal alkynes.

Abstract
Biologically relevant chiral 3,3-disubstituted oxindole products containing a β-fluoroamine unit are obtained in high yields and with excellent stereoselectivity (up to 99% ee, dr >20:1 for syn) through the organocatalytic direct Mannich reaction of 3-fluoro-oxindoles as fluoroenolate precursors and α-amidosulfones as the bench-stable precursors of sensitive imines by using a chiral oligoethylene glycol and KF as a cation-binding catalyst and base, respectively. This protocol can be easily scaled without compromising the asymmetric induction. Furthermore, this protocol was also successfully extended to generate tetrasubstituted C-Cl and C-Br stereogenic centers.
