Abstract
Asymmetric sigmatropic rearrangement is a powerful organic transformation via substrate-reorganization to efficiently increase molecular complexity from readily accessible starting materials. In particular, a high level of diastereo- and enantioselectivity can be readily accessed through well-defined and predictable transition states in [3,3], [2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangements, which have been widely applied in the synthesis of various chiral building blocks, natural products, and pharmaceuticals. In recent years, catalytic asymmetric sigmatropic rearrangements involving chiral metal complexes to induce stereocontrol have been intensively studied. This review presents an overview of metal-catalysed enantioselective versions of sigmatropic rearrangements in the past two decades, mainly focusing on [3,3], [2,3], and [1,3]-rearrangements, to show the development of substrate design, new catalyst exploitation, and novel cascade processes. In addition, their application in the asymmetric synthesis of complex natural products is also exemplified.

Abstract
α-Allenol is a versatile synthon in organic synthesis. The catalytic asymmetric synthesis of α-allenols from readily available starting materials remains a prominent challenge, especially when simultaneous control over axial and central chirality is required. Herein, we describe the Cr-catalyzed enantioconvergent allenylation of aldehydes with racemic propargyl halides to rapidly access a wide range of chiral α-allenols with adjacent axial and central chiralities. This method features excellent regio-, diastereo- and enantioselectivity control with broad substrate scope, and provides facile access to all four stereoisomers when allied with a Mitsunobu reaction. Preliminary mechanistic studies support radical-based reaction pathways. The synthetic utility is demonstrated by the application in late-stage functionalization and the formal total synthesis of (+)-varitriol.

Abstract
Here we report the synthesis of interesting 3-alkyl-4-hydroxy-1-aryl-4-(propa-1,2-dienyl)1H-pyrazol-5(4H)-ones and 9-alkyl-7-aryl-1-oxa-7,8-diazaspiro[4.4]nona-3,8-dien-6-ones, starting from 1,2-diaza-1,3-dienes (DDs) and propargyl alcohol. The reaction proceeds through a sequence Michael-type nucleophilic attack/cyclization/[2,3]-Wittig rearrangement. In the same way, the reaction between the aforementioned DDs and allyl alcohol furnished 4-allyl-4-hydroxy-3-alkyl-1-aryl-1H-pyrazol-5(4H)-ones. A DFT study was also carried out, in order to have decisive clarifications about the mechanism.

Abstract
The allene functionality has participated in one of the most exciting voyages in organic chemistry, from chemical curiosities to a recurring building block in modern organic chemistry. In the last decades, a special kind of allene, namely, allenol, has emerged. Allenols, formed by an allene moiety and a hydroxyl functional group with diverse connectivity, have become common building blocks for the synthesis of a wide range of structures and frequent motif in naturally occurring systems. The synergistic effect of the allene and hydroxyl functional groups enables allenols to be considered as a unique and sole functionality exhibiting a special reactivity. This Review summarizes the most significant contributions to the chemistry of allenols that appeared during the past decade, with emphasis on their synthesis, reactivity, and occurrence in natural products.

Abstract
A highly enantioselective acyloin rearrangement of cyclic α-ketols has been developed with a chiral Al(III)-N,N'-dioxide complex as catalyst. This strategy provided an array of optically active 2-acyl-2-hydroxy cyclohexanones in moderate to good yields with high enantioselectivities. The asymmetric isomerizations of acyclic α-hydroxy aldehydes and α-iminols were achieved as well under modified conditions, affording the corresponding chiral α-hydroxy ketones and α-amino ketones in moderate results. Moreover, further transformations of product to enantioenriched diols were carried out.

Abstract
The enantioselective [2,3]-Wittig rearrangement of cinnamyloxycyclopentanone derivatives was performed in the presence of a Cinchona-based primary amine. The described method provides synthetically valuable α-hydroxy ketones with quaternary stereogenic centers in excellent enantiomeric purities. Relying on the X-ray crystal structure of the product and the DFT calculations, we propose that the rearrangement is promoted by an intramolecular hydrogen bond between the substrate and the catalyst.

Abstract
Synthetic chiral helical polymers have achieved impressive progress in past few decades. Unfortunately, how to construct chiral helical polymer-derived functional materials still remains highly challenging. The present contribution reports an unprecedented, one-step strategy for judiciously combining chiral helical polymer with graphene to construct chiral hybrid foams. Graphene oxide (GO), ascorbic acid (L-AA), Rh catalyst, and an achiral acetylenic monomer bearing phenylboronic acid group are mixed in an aqueous dispersion. Under mild conditions, the monomer underwent polymerization; meanwhile GO transforms into reduced graphene oxide (RGO) which in situ self-assembles to construct a 3D porous structure. Herein, L-AA simultaneously plays double roles: 1) working as a chiral source for the monomer to undergo helix-sense-selective polymerization or transferring its chirality to the polymer chains via forming borate structure; and 2) working as a reducing agent for reducing GO. The preparation strategy combines four processes into one single step: monomer polymerization, chirality transfer, reduction of GO, and RGO's self-assembly. The eventually obtained chiral hybrid foams demonstrate advantages of porous structure, chirality, and reversible borate functional groups. The established preparation strategy promises a potent platform for conveniently constructing advanced chiral polymeric materials and even chiral hybrids starting from achiral monomers.

Abstract
A DMAP-N-oxide, featuring an α-amino acid as the chiral source, was developed, synthesized and applied in asymmetric Steglich rearrangement. A series of O-acylated azlactones afforded C-acylated azlactones possessing a quaternary stereocenter in high yields (up to 97 % yield) and excellent enantioselectivities (up to 97 % ee). Compared to the widespread use of pyridine nitrogen, which serves as the nucleophilic site in the asymmetric acyl transfer reaction, we discovered that chiral DMAP-N-oxides, in which the oxygen now acts as the nucleophilic site, are efficient acyl transfer catalysts. Our finding might open a new door for the development of chiral DMAP-N-oxides for asymmetric acyl transfer reactions.

Abstract
A highly stereoselective [2,3]-Wittig rearrangement of allylic and propargylic ethers controlled by a chiral sulfoxide moiety is presented. The activation provided by the sulfoxide at the remote ortho position allows the rearrangement of less-activated and unexplored benzylic carbanions. Thus, this general methodology gives access to the asymmetric synthesis of homoallylic, enynyl, and allenylic α-benzyl alcohol derivatives.
