Abstract
A mild and general methodology for the difluoromethylthiolation of cycloalkanols has been developed by employing N-difluoromethylthiophthalimide as the SCF2H radical source, in combination with an acridinium-derived organo-photosensitizer, under redox-neutral conditions. This reaction protocol demonstrates high efficiency, scalability, and mild reaction conditions, thus presenting a green approach for the rapid synthesis of distal difluoromethylthiolated alkyl ketones that are challenging to be synthesized through alternative means.

Abstract
The highly efficient construction of complicated heterocyclic frameworks in an atom- and step-economic manner is still one of the cores of synthetic chemistry. Dearomatization reactions show the unique advantage for the construction of functionalized heterocycles and have attracted widespread attention over the past two decades. The metal-free approach has proved to be a green and sustainable paradigm for the synthesis of spirocyclic, polycyclic and heterocyclic scaffolds, which are widely present in natural products and bioactive molecules. In this review, the advances in the recent six years (2017-2023) in metal-free dearomatization reactions are highlighted. Emphasis is placed on developments in the field of organo-catalyzed dearomatization reactions, oxidative dearomatization reactions, Brønsted acid- or base-promoted dearomatization reactions, photoredox-catalyzed dearomatization reactions, and electrochemical oxidation dearomatization reactions.

Abstract
PIDA mediated oxidative acyloxylation/azirination and sulfonyloxylation/azirination of β-enamino esters were investigated. A series of functionalized acyloxy-2H-azirine and sulfonyloxy-2H-azirine derivatives was synthesized in moderate to good yields. This represents the first oxidative sulfonyloxylation/azirination of β-enamino esters with PIDA and sulfonic acid for access to sulfonyloxy-2H-azirine. Hypervalent iodine reagents enable cascade C-O/C-N bond formation. Furthermore, a possible reaction pathway was proposed based on the experimental results.

Abstract
A dearomatization/deiodination/rearomatization strategy for the [3 + 2] cyclization of o-iodophenolic substrates with α,β-unsaturated imines to construct various dihydrobenzofuran-related skeletons has been established. Tolerance to different functional groups has been tested. Mechanistic studies revealed that this domino reaction was possibly realized by the deiodination and tautomerization of the key dearomatized intermediate to generate a free phenolic O radical. Moreover, an anticancer agent 4 and an α-glucosidase inhibitor 5 with high bioactivities were successfully synthesized using this novel protocol.

Abstract
An Oxone-mediated oxidative ring-opening reaction of 4,5-disubstituted 9H-fluoren-9-ols by cleavage of a carbon-carbon bond is reported. 2-Hydroxy-2'-aroyl-1,1'-biaryls can be efficiently prepared by simply heating the mixture of fluoren-9-ols, Oxone, and 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropanol at 60 °C for 4 h. The persulfate-involved ring-expansion processes were proposed and supported by the DFT calculations.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed ring-opening reaction of optically active ferrocenyl tertiary alcohols for the construction of planar chiral ketones is reported. The stereochemistry of the hydroxyl group in ferrocenyl alcohols markedly affects reaction: ferrocenyl alcohols with a β-hydroxyl group show better reactivity and chemoselectivity than the corresponding α-hydroxyl analogues. The treatment of α-hydroxyl substrates with trifluoroacetic acid successfully realizes the inversion of the orientation of hydroxyl group to the corresponding β-analogues.

Abstract
An electrophotochemical ring-opening bromination of unstrained tert-cycloalkanols has been developed. This electrophotochemical method enables the oxidative transformation of cycloalkanols with 5- to 7-membered rings into synthetically useful ω-bromoketones without the use of chemical oxidants or transition-metal catalysts. Alkoxy radical species would be key intermediates in the present transformation, which generate through homolysis of the O-Br bond in hypobromite intermediates under visible light irradiation.

Abstract
The stereoselective synthesis of cis-β-N-alkoxyamidevinyl benziodoxolones (cis-β-N-RO-amide-VBXs) from O-alkyl hydroxamic acids in the presence of an ethynyl benziodoxolone-acetonitrile complex (EBX-MeCN) is reported herein. The reaction was performed under mild conditions including an aqueous solvent, a mild base, and room temperature. The reaction tolerated various O-alkyl hydroxamic acids derived from carboxylic acids, such as amino acids, pharmaceuticals, and natural products. Vinyl dideuterated cis-β-N-MeO-amide-VBXs were also synthesized using deuterium oxide as the deuterium source. Valine-derived cis-β-N-MeO-amide-VBX was stereospecifically derivatized to hydroxamic acid-derived cis-enamides without the loss of stereoselectivity or reduction in the deuterium/hydrogen ratio.
