Abstract
The iridium-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of α-alkoxy-β-ketoesters via dynamic kinetic resolution has been achieved with high efficiency and enantioselectivity. This strategy allows for the synthesis of differentiated anti-1,2-diol derivatives in high yields, exhibiting excellent enantio- and diastereoselectivity (up to 99% yield, 99% ee, and 99 : 1 dr). Additionally, high turnover number (TON) experiments (up to 1000 TON) and gram-scale synthesis of a key fragment of the potential drug Tesaglitazar were successfully performed, highlighting the protocol's potential for broader applications.

Abstract
Five furanoids including a new analog (S)-1,4-di(furan-2-yl)-2-hydroxybutane-1,4-dione (1) together with four known ones, rhizosolaniol (2), 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (3), 2-furoic acid (4) and (2-furyl) oxoacetamide (5), were isolated from the fungal strain Ceratobasidium sp. (GS2) inducing seed germination of the endangered medicinal plant Gymnadenia conopsea of Orchidaceae. The structure of new furanoid 1 was determined mainly based on HR-ESI-MS and NMR spectral data. Modified Mosher's reactions were used to establish the stereochemistry of the hydroxyl group in 1, which was not stable in Mosher's reagents and transformed into four analogs 6-9. These degraded products (6-9) were elucidated based on UPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS analysis, and compound 8 was further isolated from the degraded mixture and its structure was characterized through NMR experiments. Therefore, the absolute configuration of compound 1 was determined by electronic circular dichroism combined with quantum-chemical calculations adopting time-dependent density functional theory. Compounds (1-5), and 8 showed weak antioxidant activities, and compounds (2-4) displayed phytotoxicity on punctured detached green foxtail leaves. In addition, compounds 3 and 4 strongly showed inhibition activities on the seed germination of G. conopsea. This was the first chemical investigation of the symbiotic fungus of G. conopsea.

Abstract
Asymmetric hydrogenation of unsaturated morpholines has been developed by using a bisphosphine-rhodium catalyst bearing a large bite angle. With this approach, a variety of 2-substituted chiral morpholines could be obtained in quantitative yields and with excellent enantioselectivities (up to 99% ee). The hydrogenated products could be transformed into key intermediates for bioactive compounds. 2-Substituted chiral morpholines were synthesized via a newly developed asymmetric hydrogenation of dehydromorpholines catalyzed by a bisphosphine–rhodium complex bearing a large bite angle.![]()

Abstract
An efficient asymmetric hydrogenation of racemic α-aryl-β-ethoxycarbonyl cyclopentanones via dynamic kinetic resolution is reported. Via catalysis by a chiral iridium Ir-SpiroPAP catalyst, a range of racemic α-aryl-β-ethoxycarbonyl cyclopentanones were hydrogenated to the corresponding ester-functionalized chiral 2-arylcyclopentanols with three contiguous stereocenters in high yields with excellent enantio- and diastereoselectivities. This method was successfully applied in the enantioselective synthesis of cyclopentane-based γ-amino ester/alcohol derivatives and phenylpropanoid (+)-burmaniol A.

Abstract
We report a highly efficient and selective catalytic system, ABNO (9-azabicyclo-[3.3.1]nonane N-oxyl)/HNO3, for the aerobic oxidation of substituted furans to cis-2-ene-1,4-diones under mild reaction conditions using oxygen as the oxidant. The catalyst system is amenable to various substituted (mon-, di-, and tri-) furans and tolerates diverse functional groups, including cyano, nitro, naphthyl, ketone, ester, heterocycle, and even formyl groups. Based on the control and 18O-labeling experiments, the possible mechanism of the oxidation is proposed.

Abstract
Asymmetric hydrogenation is one of the most powerful methods for the preparation of single enantiomer compounds. However, the chemo- and enantioselective hydrogenation of the relatively inert unsaturated group in substrates possessing multiple unsaturated bonds remains a challenge. We herein report a protocol for the highly chemo- and enantioselective hydrogenation of conjugated enynes while keeping the alkynyl bond intact. Mechanism studies indicate that the accompanying Zn2+ generated from zinc reduction of the CoII complex plays a critical role to initiate a plausible CoI /CoIII catalytic cycle. This approach allows for the highly efficient generation of chiral propargylamines (up to 99.9 % ee and 2000 S/C) and further useful chemical transformations.

Abstract
Asymmetric hydrogenation (AH) of double bonds has been one of the most effective methods for the preparation of chiral molecules and for the synthesis of important chiral building blocks. In the past 60 years, noble metals with bidentate ligands have shown marvelous reactivity and enantioselectivity in asymmetric hydrogenation of a series of prochiral substrates. In recent years, developing chiral tridentate ligands has played an increasingly important role in AH. With modular frameworks and a variety of functionalities on the side arms, chiral tridentate ligand complexes enable both reactivities and stereoselectivities. Although great achievements have been made for noble metal catalysts with chiral tridentate ligands since the 1990s, the design of chiral tridentate ligands for earth abundant metal catalysts has still been in high demand. This review summarizes the development of chiral tridentate ligands for homogeneous asymmetric hydrogenation. The philosophy of ligand design and the reaction mechanisms are highlighted and discussed as well.

Abstract
Sugar alcohols are of great importance for the food industry and are promising building blocks for bio-based polymers. Industrially, they are produced by heterogeneous hydrogenation of sugars with H2 , usually with none to low stereoselectivities. Now, we present a homogeneous system based on commercially available components, which not only increases the overall yield, but also allows a wide range of unprotected ketoses to be diastereoselectively hydrogenated. Furthermore, the system is reliable on a multi-gram scale allowing sugar alcohols to be isolated in large quantities at high atom economy.

Abstract
The asymmetric hydrogenation of trifluoromethyl ketones via iridium catalysis to access chiral secondary 2,2,2-trifluoroethanols is presented. The key intermediates of Odanacatib and LX1301 were prepared with high yields and enantioselectivities.
