Abstract
A tetrabutylammonium iodide-mediated direct sulfenylation of arenes with ethyl arylsulfinates in water was developed. Various electron-rich arenes and ethyl arylsulfinates were investigated in the reaction, and a series of aryl sulfides were obtained in excellent yields. The advantages of this green protocol were simple reaction conditions (metal-free, water as the solvent, and under air), odorless and easily available sulfur reagent, broad substrate scope, and gram-scale synthesis. Moreover, the potential application of aryl sulfides was exemplified by further transformations.

Abstract
We report here the synthesis and thorough characterization of a new family of alkylbiguanides and alkylbiguanidium chlorides by 1H and 13C NMR and X-ray diffraction. Their critical micelle concentration was first determined by surface tension measurements. Hexylbiguanide was then studied as a surfactant in the micellar Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction. The unexpected low reactivity of the system at high Pd/hexylbiguanide ratios was due to the change of the size and the shape of the aggregates, observed by transmission electron microscopy. The best catalytic activity was obtained for a 1:1 Pd/hexylbiguanide ratio for which the micellar conditions were conserved. Better results were obtained for several substrates, when compared to those previously obtained with metformin under the same reaction conditions. Higher yields and a better recyclability were obtained under micellar conditions with hexylbiguanide.

Abstract
Highly selective C(sp2)–C(sp2) cross-coupling of dihalogenated hydrocarbons comprising C(sp2)–Br and C(sp3)–Cl bonds with arylboronic acids is reported. This highly selective coupling reaction of the C(sp2)–Br bond is successfully achieved using Pd(OAc)2 and PCy3·HBF4 as the palladium source and ligand, respectively. A series of chloromethyl-1,1′-biphenyl compounds are obtained in moderate-to-excellent yields. Moreover, this protocol can be extended to the one-pot dual arylation of 1-bromo-4-(chloromethyl)benzene with two arylboronic acids, leading to diverse unsymmetrical 4-benzyl-1,1′-biphenyl derivatives.
