Preparation, crystal structure, spectroscopic studies, DFT calculations, antibacterial activities and molecular docking of a tridentate Schiff base ligand and its cis -MoO2 complex

Crystal Structure and Spectroscopic Characterization of a New Hybrid Compound, (C12H17N2)2[CdBr4], for Energy Storage Applications

Organic-inorganic hybrid materials have recently found a vast variety of applications in the fields of energy storage and microelectronics due to their outstanding electric and dielectric characteristics, including high dielectric constant, low conductivity, and low dielectric loss. However, despite the promising properties of these materials, there remains a need to explore novel compounds with improved performance for practical applications. In this research paper, the focus is on addressing this scientific challenge by synthesizing and characterizing the new-centrosymmetric (C12H17N2)2[CdBr4] crystal. This compound offers potential advancements in energy storage technologies and microelectronics due to its unique structural and electronic properties. The chemical mentioned above crystallizes in the monoclinic system, and its protonated amine (C12H17N2)+ and isolated anion [CdBr4]2- are bound by C-H···π and N-H···Br hydrogen bonds to form its zero-dimensional structure. Through optical absorption analysis, the semiconductor nature of the material is verified, showcasing a band gap of around 2.9 eV. Furthermore, an in-depth examination of Nyquist plots reveals the material's electrical characteristics' sensitivity to frequency and temperature variations. By applying Jonscher's power law to analyze ac conductivity plots, it is observed that the variation in the exponent "s" accurately characterizes the conduction mechanism, aligning with CBH models. The compound exhibits low dielectric loss values and a high permittivity value (ε ∼ 105), making it a promising candidate for energy storage applications. By managing the scientific challenge of improving material performance for energy storage and microelectronics, this research contributes to advancing the field and opens avenues for further exploration and application of organic-inorganic hybrid materials.

Tenability on schiff base Hydrazone derivatives and Frontier molecular orbital

Context hydrazine compounds based on 1,3,5-triazine were synthesised and their molecular structures were characterised by elemental analysis, Electronic, IR and 1H NMR spectra. The spectral behaviour of the newly prepared compounds in organic solvents of different polarities was extensively studied and correlated to the molecular structure. In this study, 1,3,5-Triazine derivatives (L1, L6, L7, L8) have been subjected to theoretical studies using the Semi-empirical PM3 quantum chemical method. The physical-chemical properties of some Hydrazone derivatives are determined theoretically. The molecular geometry, the Highest Occupied Molecular Orbital (HOMO) - Lowest Unoccupied Molecular Orbital (LUMO) energy gap, molecular hardness (η), ionisation energy (IE), Electron affinity and total energy were analysed, and applications as biological effects were done.

Crystal structure, optical characterization, conduction and relaxation mechanisms of a new hybrid compound (C6H9N2)2[Sb2Cl8]

Hybrid materials play a crucial role in the construction of flexible electronic devices due to the advantages of both organic and inorganic components. To this end, a new hybrid compound (C6H9N2)2[Sb2Cl8] was successfully fabricated using the slow evaporation solution growth approach at room temperature. In-depth research has been done on the structural, optical, and dielectric characteristics. This compound adopts the triclinic symmetry and crystallizes in the centrosymmetric space group P1̄. The inorganic and organic components respectively form anionic and cationic layers parallel to the ac-plane and alternate along the crystallographic b-axis. The [Sb2Cl8]2- dimeric units are bound to the 2-amino-5-picolinium cations [(C6H9N2)]+ through N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. Optical absorption measurements showed a semiconductor behavior with a band gap of approximately 3.57 eV. In addition, DFT calculations were performed to investigate the absorption spectrum, wavelength, and HOMO-LUMO gap. The analysis of complex impedance spectra shows that the electrical conductivity of the sample is strongly frequency and temperature dependent, indicating a relaxation phenomenon and semiconductor-type behavior. Dielectric data obtained from complex impedance spectroscopy and ac conductivity with the use of the Maxwell-Wagner equivalent circuit model, and the universal power law have been investigated to explore the basic components of the electronic transport and relaxation process in our material.

Crystal structure and optical characterization of a new hybrid compound, C6H9N2FeCl4, with large dielectric constants for field-effect transistors

Due to remarkable dielectric features, such as a large dielectric constant, strong electrical conductivity, high capacitance, and low dielectric loss, hybrid materials have lately seen a huge number of applications in the field of optoelectronics. These are critical characteristics that qualify the performance of optoelectronic devices, particularly field-effect transistor components (FETs). Here, the hybrid compound 2-amino-5-picoline tetrachloroferrate(iii) (2A5PFeCl₄) was synthesised by using the slow evaporation solution growth method at room temperature. Structural, optical, and dielectric properties have been investigated. The 2A5PFeCl₄ compound crystallises in the monoclinic system (P2₁/c space group). Its structure can be described as a successive layering of inorganic and organic parts. [FeCl₄]^- tetrahedral anions and 2-amino-5-picolinium cations are connected by N-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. The optical absorption measurement confirms the semiconductor nature with a band gap of around 2.47 eV. Additionally, the structural and electronic properties of the title compound have been investigated theoretically through DFT calculations. At low frequencies, this material has significant dielectric constants (ε ∼10⁶). Furthermore, the high electrical conductivity, low dielectric loss at high frequencies, and high capacitance show that this new material has great dielectric potential in FET technologies. Due to their high permittivity, these compounds can be employed as gate dielectrics.

Synthesis, Anti-proliferative Activity, and Molecular Docking Study of New Series of 1,3-5-Triazine Schiff Base Derivatives

Based on the use of s-triazine as a scaffold, we report here a new series of s-triazine Schiff base derivatives and their anti-proliferative activity against two cancer cell lines: human breast carcinoma (MCF-7), and colon cancer (HCT-116) compared with tamoxifen as a reference compound. Several derivatives exhibited growth inhibition activity in the sub-micromolar range. The results reveal that the s-triazine Schiff base derivatives showed varied activities and that the substituents on the s-triazine core have a great effect on the anti-proliferative activity. Compounds with a piperidino and benzylamino substituent on the s-triazine moiety 4b and 4c were most effective in both cell lines compared to the reference compound used. In addition, compound 4b has a para chlorine atom on the benzylidine residue, demonstrating the most potent activity with IC₅₀ values of 3.29 and 3.64 µM in MCF-7 and HCT-116, respectively. These results indicate that in general, the nature of the substituents on the triazine core and the type of substituent on the benzilyldene ring significantly influenced the anti-proliferative activity. The results obtained from the anti-proliferative activity and the molecular docking study indicate that s-triazine-hydrazone derivatives may be an excellent scaffold for the development of new anti-cancer agents.

Spectroscopic, SOD, anticancer, antimicrobial, molecular docking and DNA binding properties of bioactive VO(IV), Cu(II), Zn(II), Co(II), Mn(II) and Ni(II) complexes obtained from 3-(2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)pentane-2,4-dione

Novel macrocyclic Schiff base complexes [[ML]X; where M = Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Mn(II) and VO(IV)^; L = macrocyclic ligand; X = Cl₂ and SO₄^2-] have been synthesized and characterized by microanalytical, ¹H, ¹³C NMR, IR, Mass, UV-Vis, EPR spectral studies, as well as conductivity data. All the complexes exhibit square-planar geometry except vanadium complex. Magnetic susceptibility measurements and high conductance data reveal the monomeric and electrolytic nature of the complexes. Electronic absorption, cyclic voltammetry, viscosity measurements have been carried out on the interaction of the complexes with DNA. The results suggest that the complexes bind to DNA by intercalation via the aromatic ring of the macrocycle into the base pairs of DNA. Using gel electrophoresis experiment in the presence and absence of oxidant (H₂O₂) the nuclease cleavage activity of the complexes has been performed on plasmid DNA. The results demonstrate that most of the complexes have promising superoxide dismutase (SOD)-mimetic activity. The in vitro cytotoxicity of ligand and its complexes has also been evaluated against human breast and colon carcinoma cells. Binding interactions and energies of ligand and its metal complexes [ML]²⁺ (M = VO(IV), Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II)) against the receptors EGFR and HER2 are performed using the Auto dock module. Consequently, it is found that the ligand is strong inhibitor for EGFR and HER2 while [VOL]SO₄ is good inhibitor for EGFR and [ZnL]Cl₂ is moderate inhibitor for HER2. The antimicrobial activity of the ligand and its complexes against bacteria Salmonella typhi, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis and fungi Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus, Candida Albicans and Rhizoctonia bataicola. The complexes have higher activities than the macrocyclic free Schiff base. Interaction of [VOL]SO₄ to the binding sites of target protein EGFR (PDB ID: 4HJ0).
