Novel mono substituted pyridoimidazoisoquinoliniums via a silver-catalyzed intramolecular cyclization and their applications in cellular imaging

Cationic heterocycles, an important class of organic compounds soluble in polar solvents, have been gaining attention in the construction of fluorescent probes. This paper reports the quick synthesis of novel pyrido[1',2';2,3]imidazo[5,1-a]isoquinoliniums starting from 2-(2-ethynylphenyl)imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines at room temperature via intramolecular cyclization by employing a catalytic amount of silver trifluoromethanesulfonate in addition to lithium trifluoromethanesulfonate and silica gel as the counter anion source and additive, respectively. The designed pyridoimidazoisoquinoliniums consisted of an imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine fused isoquinolinium. The X-ray diffraction results revealed that pyrido[1',2';2,3]imidazo[5,1-a]isoquinolinium trifluoromethanesulfonate contained considerable planar parent skeletons and interacted by π-π stacking with neighbouring molecules. Furthermore, in a methanol solution the designed 6-phenyl derivative exhibited strong fluorescence in the 420-450 nm region in addition to strong mitochondrial specificity in a cell staining assay.

3-Trifluoromethyl Pyrrole Synthesis Based on β-CF3-1,3-Enynamides

A new metal-free method for the rapid, productive, and scalable preparation of 3-trifluoromethyl pyrroles has been developed. It is based on the electrophilic nature of the double bond of β-CF3-1,3-enynamides due to the electron-withdrawing characteristics of the trifluoromethyl groups and the strong nucleophilic nature of alkyl primary amines. Evidence for the highly regioselective 1,4-hydroamination was observed after the isolation and characterization of the allenamide intermediate.

1,3 Dipolar Cycloaddition of Münchnones: Factors behind the Regioselectivity

The 1,3 dipolar cycloaddition reactions of münchnones and alkenes provide an expedite synthetic way to substituted pyrroles, an exceedingly important structural motif in the pharmaceutical and material science fields of research. The factors governing their regioselectivity rationalization are not well understood. Using several approaches, we investigate a set of 14 reactions (featuring two münchnones, 12 different alkenes, and two alkynes). The Natural Bond Theory and the Non-Covalent Interaction Index analyses of the noncovalent interaction energies fail to predict the experimental major regioisomer. Employing global cDFT descriptors or local ones such as the Fukui function and dual descriptor yields similarly inaccurate predictions. Only the local softness pairing, within Pearson's Hard and Soft Acids and Bases principle, constitutes a reliable predictor for the major reaction product. By taking into account an estimator for the steric effects, the correct regioisomer is predicted. Steric effects play a major role in driving the regioselectivity, as was corroborated by energy decomposition analysis of the transition states.

Copper/Nitroxyl-Catalyzed Synthesis of Pyrroles by Oxidative Coupling of Diols and Primary Amines at Room Temperature

The Cu/ABNO-catalyzed aerobic oxidative coupling of diols and primary amines to access N-substituted pyrroles is highlighted (ABNO = 9-azabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane N-oxyl). The reaction proceeds at room temperature with an O₂ balloon as the oxidant using commercially available materials as the substrates and catalysts. The catalyst system is characterized by a broad range of substrates and a good tolerance to sensitive functional groups. The gram-scale experiment proves this system's practicability.

Volatile Compounds of Algal Biomass Pyrolysis

The use and transformation of biomass into highly valuable products is a key element in circular economy models. The purpose of this research was to characterise the volatile compounds and the temperature at which they are emitted during the thermal decomposition by pyrolysis of algal biomass while looking at three different types: (A1) endemic microalgae consortium, (A2) photobioreactor microalgae consortium and (A3) Caribbean macroalgae consortium. Furthermore, the ultimate (CHON) and proximate (humidity, volatile solids and ashes) compositions of the algal biomass were determined. Some volatile species were identified as having potential industrial interest for use as precursors and intermediaries, such as commercially used aromatic compounds which if not suitably managed can be harmful to our health and the environment. It is concluded that the pyrolysis of algal biomass shows potential for the generation of valuable products. The information generated is useful, especially the temperature at which volatility occurs, in order to access the valuable compounds offered by the algal biomasses, and under the concept of biorefinery convert the issue of biomass disposal into a sustainable source of raw materials.

Flexible Construction Approach to the Synthesis of 1,5-Substituted Pyrrole-3-carbaldehydes from 5-Bromo-1,2,3-triazine

We report an efficient and mild tandem catalytic process for the synthesis of functionalized pyrrole-3-carbaldehydes. These compounds were obtained by a one-pot three-component reaction of 5-bromo-1,2,3-triazine, terminal alkynes, and primary amines via a palladium-catalyzed Sonogashira coupling reaction, and then annulation through a silver-mediated reaction of the resulting alkynyl 1,2,3-triazines allowed for access to the multifunctionalized pyrrole-3-carbaldehydes.

AgNTf2-Catalyzed Regioselective C-H Alkenylation of N,N-Dialkylanilines with Ynamides

Regioselective C-H alkenylation of N,N-dialkylanilines with ynamides was developed using AgNTf₂ as a catalyst. This approach represents a facile hydroarylation of ynamides, allowing for the introduction of an alkenyl group exclusively at the para position of aniline derivatives. As a result, a series of 4-alkenyl N,N-dialkylanilines were synthesized with excellent regioselectivities.

A new silver coordination polymer based on 4,6-diamino-2-pyrimidinethiol: synthesis, characterization and catalytic application in asymmetric Hantzsch synthesis of polyhydroquinolines

A highly efficient and stable heterogeneous coordination polymer (CP) was successfully prepared by hydrothermal combination of silver and 4,6-diamino-2-pyrimidinethiol. The prepared coordination polymer was characterized by FT-IR, XRD, TGA, SEM, EDX, X-ray mapping and Nitrogen adsorption–desorption analysis. The prepared Ag–CP exhibit excellent catalytic activity in multicomponent Hantzsch synthesis of polyhydroquinolines under mild reaction conditions in relatively short reaction times. The heterogeneity of the catalyst was confirmed by the hot filtration test; also, the catalyst was reused for at least four times under the optimized reaction conditions without any significant loss of its catalytic activity.
