Abstract
A series of slide-ring polyrotaxanes (SRPs) have been constructed by the solvent-free blending of a ditopic pillar[5]arene (DP5A) and polyisoprene (PIP) after thermal annealing. Solid-state 13C NMR experiments supported the fact that the pillar[5]arene rings of DP5A were threaded by PIP chains to afford physically interlocked networks. Tensile tests revealed that 1% of DP5A can improve the elongation at break from 50 to 239%, the tensile modulus from 2.1 to 3.9 MPa, and the toughness from 0.35 to 4.5 MJ/m3. Impact and puncture resistance experiments show that the DP5A-doped materials exhibit remarkable enhancement of protective and impalement-resistant performance. The samples can be also recycled repeatedly due to their physical crosslinking nature. The important stress delocalization effects have been attributed to the pulley effect of DP5A in the SRP materials, which represents a supramolecular approach for improving the performance of PIP elastomers.

Abstract
To systematically investigate the dependence of the initiating group and metal size on polymerization performance, a family of rare-earth metal bis(alkyl)/bis(benzyl)/bis(amide) complexes supported by a monoanionic tridentate amidinate ligand [(2,6-iPr2C6H3)NC(Ph)N(C6H4-2-OMe]- (HL) were synthesized and well-characterized. Treatment of rare-earth metal tris(alkyl)/tris(benzyl)/tris(amide) complexes Y(CH2C6H4NMe2-o)3 or Y(CH2SiMe3)3(THF)2 or Ln[N(SiHMe2)2]3(THF)x (Ln = Sc, x = 1; Ln = Y, La, Sm, Lu, x = 2) with 1 equiv of HL gave the corresponding mono(amidinate) rare-earth metal bis(alkyl)/bis(benzyl)/bis(amide) complexes [(2,6-iPr2C6H4)NC(Ph)N(C6H4-2-OMe)]Y(CH2C6H4NMe2-o)2 (1), [(2,6-iPr2C6H4)NC(Ph)N(C6H4-2-OMe)]Y(CH2SiMe3)2(THF) (2), and [(2,6-iPr2C6H4)NC(Ph)N(C6H4-2-OMe)]Ln[N(SiHMe2)2]2(THF)n (Ln = Y, n = 1 (3); Ln = La, n = 1 (4); Ln = Sc, n = 0 (5); Ln = Lu, n = 0 (6); Ln = Sm, n = 0 (7)) in good isolated yields. These complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, NMR spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. In the presence of excess AlMe3 and on treatment with 1 equiv of [Ph3C][B(C6F5)4], these complexes could serve as precatalysts for cationic polymerization of isoprene, in which the dependence of the polymerization activity and regioselectivity on the initiating group and metal size was observed.

Abstract
A family of pyridine-oxazoline-ligated cobalt complexes L2CoCl23a-h were synthesized and characterized. Determined via single-crystal X-ray diffraction, complexes 3a and 3d, ligated by two ligands, displayed a distorted tetrahedral coordination of a cobalt center. The X-ray structure indicated the pyridine-oxazoline ligands acted as unusual mono-dentate ligands by coordinating only to Noxazoline. Upon activation with AlEt2Cl (diethylaluminum chloride), these cobalt complexes all exhibited high catalytic activity (up to 2.5 × 106 g·molCo-1·h-1), affording cis-1,4-co-3,4-polyisoprene with molecular weights of 4.4-176 kg mol-1 and a narrow Ð of 1.79-3.42, suggesting a single-site nature of the active sites. The structure of cobalt catalysts and reaction parameters, especially co-catalysts and the reaction temperature, all have significant influence on the polymerization activity but not on the microstructure of polyisoprene.

Synthetic Polyisoprene Rubber as a Mimic of Natural Rubber: Recent Advances on Synthesis, Nanocomposites, and Applications. Polymers (Basel) 2023; 15:4074. Abstract
Up to now, rubber materials have been used in a wide range of applications, from automotive parts to special-design engineering pieces, as well as in the pharmaceutical, food, electronics, and military industries, among others. Since the discovery of the vulcanization of natural rubber (NR) in 1838, the continuous demand for this material has intensified the quest for a synthetic substitute with similar properties. In this regard, synthetic polyisoprene rubber (IR) emerged as an attractive alternative. However, despite the efforts made, some properties of natural rubber have been difficult to match (i.e., superior mechanical properties) due not only to its high content of cis-1,4-polyisoprene but also because its structure is considered a naturally occurring nanocomposite. In this sense, cutting-edge research has proposed the synthesis of nanocomposites with synthetic rubber, obtaining the same properties as natural rubber. This review focuses on the synthesis, structure, and properties of natural and synthetic rubber, with a special interest in the synthesis of IR nanocomposites, giving the reader a comprehensive reference on how to achieve a mimic of NR.

Abstract
A PNP-pincer ligand provides a versatile ligation framework, which is highly useful in organometallic chemistry and catalytic chemistry. In this work, by a de novo strategy, a simple and efficient synthetic pathway, has been developed to prepare the new iminodibenzyl-based PNP pincer proligand imin-RPNP(Li or H) (R = isopropyl, phenyl). By employing salt metathesis or direct alkyl elimination, we successfully synthesized a series of iminodibenzyl-PNP rare-earth-metal (Ln = Sc, Y, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Lu) complexes and characterized them by NMR and X-ray diffraction analyses. Upon addition of a borate and triisobutylaluminum (TIBA), the rare-earth-metal complexes 2-Y, 2-Dy, 2-Ho, 2-Er, and 2-Tm bearing the imin-PhPNP ligand exhibited unexpectedly high 3,4-selectivity (up to 95%) for the polymerization of 1,3-dienes (isoprene and myrcene); in particular, the chosen yttrium complex 2-Y promoted the 1,3-diene polymerization in a living manner. A computational study suggested that the sterically congested configuration around the metal center imposed by the imin-RPNP ligand might be the main reason for this unusual selectivity.

Abstract
A family of rare-earth complexes bearing diarylamido-based pincer ligands with phosphino-, phenylthio- and quinolino-sidearms have been synthesized and fully characterized. Upon activation by [Ph3C][B(C6F5)4], the scandium (P-Sc and S-Sc) and yttrium complexes (P-Y and S-Y) could catalyze the polymerization of isoprene with cis-1,4 selectivity (up to 98.8%), while the lutetium analogues P-Lu and S-Lu produced trans-1,4 selective polyisoprene (up to 83.3%). Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were carried out to clarify the mechanisms for the metal-dependent stereoselective (cis to trans) polymerization of isoprene catalyzed by P-Sc, P-Y and P-Lu, suggesting that kinetically and thermodynamically more favorable insertion-isomerization during chain propagation is the key reason for P-Lu catalyzed trans-stereoselective isoprene polymerization.

Abstract
A series of iminopyridyl-based ligands, 6-[(Ar)N=C(R)]-2-C6H5N [(Ar = 2,6-Me2-C6H3, R = Me (L1); Ar = 2,6-iPr2-C6H3, R = Me (L2); Ar = 2,6-Me2-C6H3, R = H (L3); Ar = 2,6-iPr2-C6H3, R = H (L4); Ar = 3,5-(CF3)2-C6H3, R = Me (L5); Ar = C6F5, R = Me (L6)], and their corresponding iron (II) complexes were developed to investigate their application in the controlled coordinative polymerization of isoprene. The modulation of steric and electronic properties within this family of ligands/pre-catalysts has shown to influence the stereo-selectivity and activity of the polymerization of isoprene after activation. Upon activation with various co-catalysts such as AliBu3/[Ph3C][B(C6F5)4], AlEt3/[Ph3C][B(C6F5)4] or MAO, the resulting catalysts produced polyisoprenes with an excellent conversion (>99% of 500–5000 equiv.) within less than 1 h (TOF > 500 h−1) and having a variety of stereo-/regio-regularities. The presence of electron-donating and withdrawing groups drastically impacted the activity and the stereoselectivity of the catalysts during the course of the polymerization of isoprene. When activated with AliBu3/[Ph3C][B(C6F5)4], the complexes {6-[(2,6-Me2-C6H3)N=C(Me)]-2-C6H5N}FeCl2 (C1) and {6-[(2,6-iPr2-C6H3)N=C(Me)]-2-C6H5N}FeCl2 (C2) exhibited moderate trans-1,4 selectivity (>67%) while the iron-based systems bearing related aldiminopyridyl ligands {6-[(2,6-Me2-C6H3)N=C(H)]-2-C6H5N}FeCl2 (C3) and {6-[(2,6-iPr2-C6H3)N=C(H)]-2-C6H5N}FeCl2 (C4) were found to afford significant cis-1,4 selectivity at low temperature (>86% at −40 °C). On the other hand, the ternary {6-[(3,5-(CF3)2-C6H3)N=C(Me)]-2-C6H5N}FeCl2 (C5) or {6-[(C6F5)N=C(Me)]-2-C6H5N}FeCl2 (C6)/AliBu3/[Ph3C][B(C6F5)4] catalytic combinations showed exceptional activity for the polymerization of isoprene (TOF > 1,000,000 h−1), albeit providing less stereoselectivity.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To evaluate temperature profiles developing in the root during warm compaction of gutta-percha with the heat sources System B and System MB Obtura (Analityc Technology, Redmond, WA, USA). Thirty extracted human incisor teeth were used. Root canals were cleaned and shaped by means of Protaper rotary files (Dentsply-Maillefer, Belgium), and imaging was performed by micro-CT (Skyscan 1072, Aartselaar, Belgium). METHODS Teeth were instrumented with K-type thermocouples, and the roots were filled with thermoplastic gutta-percha. Vertical compaction was achieved through the heat sources System B and System MB, and temperature profiles were detect-ed by means of NI Dac Interface controlled by the LabView System. With both heat sources, higher temperature levels were recorded in the region of the root far from the apex. When the warm plugger tip was positioned at a distance of 3 mm from the root apex, temperature levels of about 180°C were used to soften gutta-percha, and no statistically significant differences were observed between peak temperatures developed by the two heating sources at the root apex. However, a temperature level higher than 40°C was maintained for a longer time with System MB. RESULTS Statistically significant differences were observed in peak temperature levels recorded far from the root apex. Thus, with a temperature of about 180°C and the warm plugger positioned at 3 mm from the root apex, both heating sources led to a temperature slightly higher than 40°C at the apex of the root, suggesting that the gutta-percha was properly softened. SIGNIFICANCE A temperature level higher than 40°C was maintained for a longer time with System MB, thus providing an ad-equate time for warm compaction of the gutta-percha.
