Abstract
This study offers a comparison between three different types of thermoresponsive (TR) and thermo-pH-salt (TPR) multiresponsive polymers including homopoly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm), copolymers with three different monomers, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), N,N-dimethylacrylamide (DMAAm), and styrene (S) at three different concentrations (5, 10, and 20 mol %), and a PNIPAAm terpolymer with 5, 10, and 20 mol % 2-((dimethylamino)methyl)-4-methylphenyl acrylate (DMAMCA) and 10 mol % HEMA, DMAAm, and S monomers. All polymers were chemically analyzed with 1H NMR and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) as well as gel permeation chromatography (GPC) for the molecular weights and dispersity and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) for the glass transition temperatures. The cloud point, also known as the phase separation temperature (Cp), was determined for all polymers by a turbidity test using a UV-vis spectrophotometer; a micro-differential scanning calorimeter was used for measuring the cloud point in deionized water. The influence of a tertiary amine cationic group of DMAMCA changed the behavior of TR copolymers into TPR by shifting the cloud point of the TPR to higher values in acidic solutions (lower pH) and to lower values in alkaline solutions. The Cp was measured at different concentrations of Hofmeister kosmotropic and chaotropic anion salt solutions in a range of pH solutions for the terpolymers. It demonstrated the same behavior as mentioned in pH solutions besides the effect of salt ions. By measuring the Tc and Cp of these polymers, we can exploit various applications of stimuli-responsive materials for sensors and biomedical technology.

Abstract
Thermo-responsive hydrophilic polymers, including those showing tuneable lower critical solution temperature (LCST), represent a continuous subject of exploration for a variety of applications, but particularly in nanomedicine. Since biological pH changes can inform the organism about the presence of disequilibrium or diseases, the development of dual LCST/pH-responsive hydrophilic polymers with biological potential is an attractive subject in polymer science. Here, we present a novel polymer featuring LCST/pH double responsiveness. The monomer ethylthiomorpholine oxide methacrylate (THOXMA) can be polymerised via the RAFT process to obtain well-defined polymers. Copolymers with hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) were prepared, which allowed the tuning of the LCST behaviour of the polymers. Both, the LCST behaviour and pH responsiveness of hydrophilic PTHOXMA were tested by following the evolution of particle size by dynamic light scattering (DLS). In weak and strong alkaline conditions, cloud points ranged between 40–60 °C, while in acidic medium no LCST was found due to the protonation of the amine of the THOX moieties. Additional cytotoxicity assays confirmed a high biocompatibility of PTHOXMA and haemolysis and aggregation assays proved that the thiomorpholine oxide-derived polymers did not cause aggregation or lysis of red blood cells. These preliminary results bode well for the use of PTHOXMA as smart material in biological applications.

Abstract
The conventional drug delivery systems have a long list of issues of repeated dosing and toxicity arising due to it. The hydrogels are the answer to them and offer a result that minimizes such activities and optimizes therapeutic benefits. The hydrogels proffer tunable properties that can withstand degradation, metabolism, and controlled release moieties. Some of the areas of applications of hydrogels involve wound healing, ocular systems, vaginal gels, scaffolds for tissue, bone engineering, etc. They consist of about 90% of the water that makes them suitable bio-mimic moiety. Here, we present a birds-eye view of various perspectives of hydrogels, along with their applications.

Abstract
Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) having low polydispersity was synthesized in mixed solvent of ethanol and water using ultrasonic irradiation without any chemical polymerization initiator. The effects of the volume fraction of ethanol in the solvent, the molar ratio of two monomers, the monomer concentration and the ultrasonic power intensity on the time courses of the conversion to the polymer, the number average molecular weight, and the polydispersity of synthesized polymer were investigated in order to determine the optimal conditions to synthesize the copolymers with a narrow molecular weight distribution (i.e. low polydispersity). The optimum volume fraction of ethanol in the solvent was 60 vol% to synthesize the copolymers with a low polydispersity. A higher ultrasonic power intensity resulted in a faster polymerization rate and a lower number average molecular weight. The polydispersity was less than 1.5 for all ultrasonic power intensities up to 450 W/dm3 applied in this work. A higher monomer concentration gave a faster polymerization rate and a higher number average molecular weight. The polydispersity was less than 1.5 when the monomer concentration was lower than 0.4 mol/dm3. A higher molar ratio of N-isopropylacrylamide resulted in a higher polymerization rate and a lower number average molecular weight. The copolymers with polydispersity less than 1.5 can be obtained regardless of the molar ratio of N-isopropylacrylamide. The copolymers synthesized by the ultrasonic polymerization method had a high temperature responsibility.

Abstract
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a non-invasive combinatorial therapeutic modality using light, photosensitizer (PS), and oxygen used for the treatment of cancer and other diseases. When PSs in cells are exposed to specific wavelengths of light, they are transformed from the singlet ground state (S₀) to an excited singlet state (S₁-Sn), followed by intersystem crossing to an excited triplet state (T₁). The energy transferred from T₁ to biological substrates and molecular oxygen, via type I and II reactions, generates reactive oxygen species, (¹O₂, H₂O₂, O₂*, HO*), which causes cellular damage that leads to tumor cell death through necrosis or apoptosis. The solubility, selectivity, and targeting of photosensitizers are important factors that must be considered in PDT. Nano-formulating PSs with organic and inorganic nanoparticles poses as potential strategy to satisfy the requirements of an ideal PDT system. In this review, we summarize several organic and inorganic PS carriers that have been studied to enhance the efficacy of photodynamic therapy against cancer.

Abstract
Random cationic copolymer brushes composed of 2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) and N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm) were synthesized using the atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) method. The effects of varying the monomer feed ratios (30:70 and 70:30 DMAEMA:NIPAAm) and polymerization times on the film height, morphology and stimuli response to pH of the brush were evaluated. While the polymerization time was found to have little influence on the properties of the brushes, the monomer feed ratios had a great impact. The 70 % DMAEMA polymer brush had similar height as the 30 % DMAEMA brush after 45 min; however, it had a greater response to pH and morphological change compared to the 30 % DMAEMA. The 70 % DMAEMA brush was used to demonstrate an efficient approach to alleviate the ion suppression effect in MALDI analysis of complex mixtures by effectively fractionating a binary mixture of peptides prior to MALDI-MS analysis.

Abstract
In this work, a new method is introduced for synthesis of nano drug for the first time. H3PMo12O40 and Fe3O4@SiO2/poly(N-isopropylacrylamide), were prepared as nano drug and magneto thermally responsive nano-carrier respectively. Then the released behavior of H3PMo12O40 nano-drug from this thermo-responsive carrier was investigated in an AC magnetic field. When a drug particle is broken up to nanometer range, the total surface area is increased; therefore the rate of dissolution and the rate of release are increased. The as-synthesized nanostructures were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). Furthermore, experimental condition which lead to the released profile of H3PMo12O40 nano-drug from Fe3O4@SiO2/poly(N-isopropylacrylamide), such as strength of magnetic field (H), temperature (T), particle size of drug and content of loaded drug were tested. Increasing the strength of magnetic field, temperature and content of loaded drug, the rate of drug release was also increased.
