Abstract
Extensive use of antibiotics in the world will cause potential risks to human health and ecosystems. The removal of these antibiotics has attracted much attention. Composite materials are growing attention for diverse pollutants separation and removal based on their specific functionality and surface area. In this study, a series of N-vinylpyrrolidone-divinylbenzene polymers (NVPD) with different N-vinylpyrrolidone (NVP) contents were facilely prepared for the adsorption of tetracycline (TC). The effect of polymer surface properties and aqueous solution chemistry (pH, ionic strength, humic acid) on TC adsorption was further studied. The dynamic adsorption and regeneration experiments were also assessed. The results showed that only 25% of NVP was involved in the reaction. When NVP dosage (%) was 75%, polymer (NVPD-g) owned the largest BET surface area (613.23 m2/g) and obtained the maximum TC adsorption capacities (258.76 mg/g). In the kinetic, the adsorption between TC and polymers with NVP was controlled by chemical adsorption and intra-particle diffusion. The TC adsorption process of NVPD-g depended on the contribution of the hydrophobic effect, electrostatic interactions, H-bonding, π-π electron donor-acceptor (EDA) interactions, and cation-π bonding. Moreover, the removal efficiency of TC by NVPD-g was enhanced in the presence of humic acid (HA) in the dynamic adsorption and 1197 BV (2394 mL) of TC simulated wastewater can be treated. These findings suggest that NVPD-g has a potential application in the purification of TC.

Abstract
In this work, organic-inorganic materials with spherical shape consisting of divinylbenzene (DVB) and triethoxyvinylsilane (TEVS) were synthesized and investigated by different complementary techniques. The obtained microspheres may be applied as sorbent systems for the purification of organic compounds from water. The hybrid microspheres combine the properties of the constituents depending on the morphologies and interfacial bonding. In this work, the influence of the molar ratio composition of crosslinked monomer (DVB) and silane coupling agent (TEVS) (DVB:TEVS molar ratios: 1:2, 1:1 and 2:1) on the morphology and quality of organic-inorganic materials have been examined. The materials were analysed using small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) analysis, low-temperature nitrogen sorption, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) to provide information on their structural and surface properties. Moreover, thermal analysis was performed to characterize the thermal stability of the studied materials and the adsorbent-adsorbate interactions, while adsorption kinetic studies proved the utility of the synthesized adsorbents for water and wastewater treatment.

Abstract
It is well-known that only the unbound (free) drug fraction can achieve a pharmacological effect. Therefore the determination of free drug concentration is a very important issue in the field of pharmacology. In this study poly-1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone (VP) crosslinked with divinylbenzene (DVB) compared with the micellar liquid chromatography (MLC) with and without pre-made drug adsorption was used for quantitative analysis of free ampicillin concentration in the standard solution of drug-human serum albumin owing to its ability to block protein adsorption. The commonly recognized adsorption method based on drug adsorption on VP-DVB has been compared to the entirely new application of MLC with direct sample injection (DSI) not requiring pre-made adsorption. Micellar aggregates are able to solubilize various compounds therefore micellar environment can be used for direct determination of free drug concentration. The obtained results show that the free drug concentration values obtained in the micellar systems based on cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) (93.98μgL-1, 78.3%) as well as on polyoxyethylene (23) lauryl ether (Brij35) (91.15μgL-1, 75.9%) are similar to those obtained after the drug adsorption on VP-DVB using both RP-HPLC (95.85μgmL-1, 79.9%) and spectrophotometry (96.47μgmL-1, 80.4%). However, only %PPB (% plasma protein binding) value calculated on the basis of Brij35 retention factor is similar to the literature data. The obtained results are within the analytical range of % of free drug concentration. Therefore N-vinylpyrrolidone copolymer as well as micellar system based on the non-ionic surfactant can be successfully applied for determination of free drug concentration. Moreover, the new application of MLC with DSI can be recognized as a promising, fast and simple method for quantitative determination of free drug concentration.

Abstract
In this paper, the synthesis and characterization of thermal properties of porous copolymers 1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone with trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate are presented. They were obtained by suspension polymerization as a pure polymers or composite materials with different inorganic fillers. The influence of the type of filler on the textural and thermal properties was investigated in details. It was found that the value of the porous surface area of composites is much lower than in the case of pure copolymers. Thermal properties of the obtained materials were investigated by the means of thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry.
