Abstract
Nanogels formed by self-assembly of natural proteins and polysaccharides have attracted great interest as potential carriers of bioactive molecules. Herein, we reported that carboxymethyl starch-lysozyme nanogels (CMS-Ly NGs) were prepared using carboxymethyl starch and lysozyme by green and facile electrostatic self-assembly, and the nanogels served as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) delivery systems. The dimensions and structure of the prepared starch-based nanogels (i.e., CMS-Ly NGs) were characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS), ζ-potential, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermal gravimetric analyzer (TGA). FT-IR and 1H NMR spectra together confirmed the formation of CMS; FT-IR spectra confirmed the formation of CMS-Ly NGs; XRD spectra confirmed the disruption of the crystal structure of lysozyme after electrostatic self-assembly with CMS, and further confirmed the formation of nanogels. TGA demonstrated the thermal stability of nanogels. More importantly, the nanogels showed a high EGCG encapsulation rate of 80.0 ± 1.4 %. The CMS-Ly NGs encapsulated with EGCG exhibited regular spherical structure and stable particle size. Under the simulated gastrointestinal environmental conditions, CMS-Ly NGs encapsulated with EGCG showed the controlled release potential, which increased its utilization. Additionally, anthocyanins can also be encapsulated in CMS-Ly NGs and showed slow-release properties during gastrointestinal digestion in the same way. Cytotoxicity assay also demonstrated good biocompatibility between CMS-Ly NGs and CMS-Ly NGs encapsulated with EGCG. The findings of this research suggested the potential application of protein and polysaccharides-based nanogels in the delivery system of bioactive compounds.

Preparation and Hydrogelling Performances of a New Drilling Fluid Filtrate Reducer from Plant Press Slag. Gels 2022; 8:gels8040201. Abstract
Plant press slag (PPS) containing abundant cellulose and starch is a byproduct in the deep processing of fruits, cereals, and tuberous crops products. PPS can be modified by using caustic soda and chloroacetic acid to obtain an inexpensive and environmentally friendly filtrate reducer of drilling fluids. The optimum mass ratio of mNaOH:mMCA:mPPS is 1:1:2, the optimum etherification temperature is 75 °C, and the obtained product is a natural mixture of carboxymethyl cellulose and carboxymethyl starch (CMCS). PPS and CMCS are characterized by using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. The filtration loss performance of CMCS is stable before and after hot-rolling aging at 120 °C in 4.00% NaCl and saturated NaCl brine base slurry. The minimum filtration loss value of CMCS is 5.28 mL/30 min at the dosage of 1.50%. Compared with the commercial filtrate reducers with a single component, i.e., carboxymethyl starch (CMS) and low viscosity sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (LV-CMC), CMCS have a better tolerance to high temperature of 120 °C and high concentration of NaCl. The filtration loss performance of low-cost CMCS can reach the standards of LV-CMC and CMS of the specification of water-based drilling fluid materials in petroleum industry.

Abstract
Abstract
In the current research, we observed numerous suggestions are promoting the use of bio-based epoxy resins, replacing the petroleum-based products like Diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A type epoxy resin DGEBA. With the passage of time, the impending challenges include preparation of environmentally-friendly epoxy with minimum toxic side effect and improved properties. Therefore, we describe a very useful method for preparing new silicone-bridged dimethyl siloxane monomers in high quantity, derived from naturally occurring eugenol. By putting the methyl siloxane, computed with different chain lengths into their molecular backbone. Such epoxy monomers have different molecular structure with high purity. This dimethyl siloxane epoxy, with lower viscosity than commercial DGEBA epoxy, has superior thermal properties, which were evaluated using differential scanning calorimetry DSC. Modification of CMS increases the hydrophilicity. Bio-based epoxy (self-prepared) resin improved adhesive properties, with the help of modified CMS. This study presents a very easy and effective chemical modification to enhance interfacial adhesion composites with superior properties.

Abstract
Complex starch is gaining research attention due to its unique physicochemical and functional properties. Lotus seed starch (LS) suspensions (6.7%, w/v) with added green tea polyphenols (GTPs) (10%, w/w) were subjected to ultrasound (200-1000 W)-microwave (150-225 W) (UM) treatment for 15 min. The effects of UM treatment on the physicochemical properties of the LS-GTP system were investigated and exceeded that of microwave or ultrasound alone. The properties (morphology, X-ray diffraction pattern and so on) were affected by GTPs to various extents, depending on ultrasonic power. These influences may be explained by the non-covalent interactions between GTPs and LS. V-type LS-GTP inclusion complex and non-inclusive complex formation were observed. Their morphology and the distribution of GTPs molecules within them were estimated using scanning electron microscopy and confocal laser scanning microscopy. Furthermore, the digestion of LS-GTP complex was investigated by a dynamic in vitro rat stomach-duodenum (DIVRSD) model, lower digestion efficiency of LS has been achieved and the residues showed gradual improvement in morphology. These all experimental results do provide new insight into the complex starch production.
