Abstract
Coumarinolignoids (CLs) are a class of natural products isolated from a diverse range of plant species. Due to their unique structural scaffold, they exhibit a wide range of interesting biological activities including hepatoprotective, antitumor, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant activities among others. In this research, key intermediate 10 was used to stereoselectively synthesize CLs (7'S,8'S)- and (7'R,8'R)-sapiumin C 1 and 2, (7'S,8'S)-moluccanin 3, and (7'S,8'S) hemidesminine 4 for the first time, establishing a versatile synthetic method for the stereoselective synthesis of linear CLs. The developed method includes a Mitsunobu coupling, a modified Miyaura arylation via a rhodium catalyst, and an acid-catalyzed cyclization in key bond-forming steps. The developed synthetic route allows the synthesis of both enantiomers of a given natural product from the same chiral pool reagent (S)-solketal while allowing easy variation of aromatic substitution and hydroxymethyl/allylhydroxymethyl moieties that are common in this class of natural products.

Abstract
Vinyl-substituted alcohols represent a highly useful class of molecular skeletons. The current method typically requires either stoichiometric metallic reagents or preformed precursors. Herein, we report a nickel catalysis-enabled synthesis of vinyl-substituted alcohols via a 5-membered oxa-metallacycle. In this protocol, acetylene, the simplest alkyne and abundant feedstock, is employed as an ideal C2 synthon. The reaction features mild conditions, good functional group tolerance and broad substrate scope. Mechanistic exploration implies that the oxa-metallacycle originated from the cyclometallation of aldehyde and acetylene is the key intermediate for this transformation, which is then terminated by a silane-mediated σ-bond metathesis and subsequent reductive elimination.

Abstract
The enantioselective addition of arylboronic acids to N-heteroaryl ketones provides a convenient access to chiral α-heteroaryl tertiary alcohols, yet addition reactions of this type have been challenging due to catalyst deactivation. In this report, an efficient rhodium-catalyzed addition of arylboronic acids to N-heteroaryl ketones is established, affording a variety of valuable α-heteroaryl alcohols with excellent functional group compatibility. The employment of the WingPhos ligand containing two anthryl groups is crucial for this transformation. In particular, a range of chiral benzoxazolyl-substituted tertiary alcohols were formed with excellent ee values and yields by employing a Rh loading as low as 0.3 mol%, which can serve as a practical protocol to furnish a series of chiral α-hydroxy acids after hydrolysis.

Abstract
An efficient palladium-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction of oxygen atom-substituted allylboronates with aryl/vinyl bromides, iodides, and triflates has been developed. The present coupling reactions proceeded smoothly to provide a variety of allylic siloxanes with high efficiency and excellent regioselectivity. This protocol features broad substrate scope, excellent functional group tolerance, and easy gram-scale preparation, and offers an alternative approach for the synthesis of allylic alcohols and their derivatives.

Abstract
Fluoroalkenes have shown importance as a metabolically stable isostere of amide compounds. To expedite the synthesis of diverse fluoroalkenes, we have developed a dual-reactive C2-unit, (Z)-1-boryl-1-fluoro-2-tosyloxyethene, containing nucleophilic and electrophilic moieties. Consecutive palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions of this unit with aryl bromides and aryl boronic acids allow for the convergent synthesis of diverse trans-1,2-diaryl-substituted fluoroethenes in a chemoselective and stereoretentive manner.

Abstract
A new application of α-alkoxymethylphosphonium salts in the nucleophilic phenylation of carbonyl compounds is demonstrated. Phenylation of aldehydes, ketones and acyl halides were studied by employing α-alkoxymethyltriphenylphosphonium halides in the presence of lithium hydroxide. New application of α-alkoxymethyltriphenylphosphonium salts. Metal-free, mild and selective phenylation. Easy preparation and handling of the reagent.

Abstract
[Ir(COD)Cl]2/tris(2,4-di-t-butylphenyl)phosphite-catalyzed addition reactions of arylboronic acids with aldehydes were described. The Ir(I) catalyst, generated from [Ir(COD)Cl]2 and tris(2,4-di-t-butylphenyl)phosphite, was an efficient catalyst system for the addition reactions of a variety of arylboronic acids with aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes. The easy availability of the catalyst and good yields make these reactions potentially useful in organic synthesis.

Abstract
Organic phosphonium salts have served as important intermediates in synthetic chemistry. But the use of a substituent on the positive phosphorus as a nucleophile to construct C–C bond remains a significant challenge. Here we report an efficient transition-metal-free protocol for the direct nucleophilic arylation of carbonyls and imines with tetraarylphosphonium salts in the presence of caesium carbonate. The aryl nucleophile generated from phosphonium salt shows low basicity and good nucleophilicity, as evidenced by the successful conversion of enolizable aldehydes and ketones. The reaction is not particularly sensitive to water, shows wide substrate scope, and is compatible with a variety of functional groups including cyano and ester groups. Compared with the arylmetallic reagents that are usually moisture sensitive, the phosphonium salts are shelf-stable and can be easily handled. Carbon based nucleophiles often are synthetically limited by the high basicity/reactivity of the starting materials. Here, the authors show that tetraarylphosphonium salts can be induced to act as C-aryl nucleophiles for the addition to carbonyls and imines.

Abstract
Rh(I)/diene-catalyzed addition reactions of arylboroxines/arylboronic acids with unactivated ketones to form tertiary alcohols in good to excellent yields are described. By using C(2)-symmetric (3aR,6aR)-3,6-diaryl-1,3a,4,6a-tetrahydropentalenes as ligands, the asymmetric version of such an addition reaction, with up to 68% ee, was also realized.

Abstract
A Cu-catalyzed γ-selective coupling reaction between propargylic phosphates and aryl- or alkenylboronates afforded aryl- or alkenyl-conjugated allenes. The reaction showed excellent functional group compatibility in both the propargylic substrates and the boronates. The reaction of an enantioenriched propargylic phosphate proceeded with excellent chirality transfer with 1,3-anti stereochemistry to give axially chiral aryl- and alkenylallenes.
