Abstract
A method for the construction of trifluorinated-5-methylenepyrrolidinone is reported. This strategy combines an acid-catalyzed two-carbon homologation process between ynamides and aldehydes, providing CF3-substituted dienes followed by a metal-free domino hydroamination/isomerization/transamidation sequence, delivering trifluorinated-5-methylenepyrrolidinone stereoselectively.

Abstract
A new metal-free method for the rapid, productive, and scalable preparation of 3-trifluoromethyl pyrroles has been developed. It is based on the electrophilic nature of the double bond of β-CF3-1,3-enynamides due to the electron-withdrawing characteristics of the trifluoromethyl groups and the strong nucleophilic nature of alkyl primary amines. Evidence for the highly regioselective 1,4-hydroamination was observed after the isolation and characterization of the allenamide intermediate.

Abstract
An efficient two-step method for synthesizing 2-(trifluoromethyl)- and 2-(difluoromethyl)benzoheteroles bearing various substituents was developed. Commercially available HFO-1224yd(Z) or HFO-1233yd(Z) underwent the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling with arylboronic acids (acid esters) bearing a nucleophilic moiety at the ortho position to yield the corresponding β-fluoro-β-(trifluoromethyl)- or β-fluoro-β-(difluoromethyl)styrenes, respectively. Treatment of the obtained styrenes with potassium phosphate induced nucleophilic 5-endo-trig cyclization to provide the corresponding 2-trifluoromethylated or 2-difluoromethylated indoles and benzofurans, as well as benzothiophenes.

Abstract
The first synthesis of gem-difluorinated ene-ynamides is presented via deprotonation of trifluoromethylated N-allenamides and δ extrusion of fluorine. These highly reactive building blocks, owing to their dual functional groups, offer a unique entry to difluorinated dienes and to stereodefined, monofluoro-substituted dienes. Stereoselective addition to the ynamide moiety led to difluorinated dienes. A stereocontrolled domino δ elimination reaction followed by an addition/elimination sequence from trifluoromethylated N-allenamides provided exclusively stereodefined monofluorinated ene-ynamides.

Abstract
We report the transition-metal-free defluorinative C-C bond-forming reaction of trifluoromethyl alkenes with gem-(diborylalkyl)lithiums. This synthetic strategy provides access to a variety of 4,4-difluoro homoallylic diboronate esters, which serve as versatile intermediates in the efficient preparation of valuable gem-difluoroalkene derivatives. Further synthetic modifications are conducted to demonstrate the synthetic utility of the obtained 4,4-difluoro homoallylic diboronate esters.

Abstract
A mild and efficient DBN-mediated addition reaction of α-(trifluoromethyl)styrenes with diazoles, triazoles, tetrazoles, and primary, secondary, and secondary cyclic amines was developed. This practical protocol provided a robust method for the synthesis of various β-trifluoromethyl nitrogen-containing heterocycles and β-trifluoromethyl amines.

Abstract
Four unprecedented base-catalyzed/mediated nucleophilic additions of TMSCN to α-(trifluoromethyl)styrenes and 2-trifluoromethyl enynes were developed. The reaction proceeded smoothly at room temperature under mild and transition-metal-free conditions without affecting the trifluoromethyl group and afforded the corresponding CF3-containing alkyl, alkynyl, and butadienyl nitriles in moderate to excellent yields in a highly regioselective manner, respectively.

Abstract
Herein we report a chromium-catalyzed allylic defluorinative ketyl olefin coupling between aldehydes and α-trifluoromethyl alkenes, which provides novel and efficient access to diverse gem-difluorohomoallylic alcohols. Remarkably, the high chemoselectivity of this reaction enables the conversion of the formyl moiety in the presence of various easily reducible functionalities including ketone, organohalides, aziridine, sulfone, alkyne, and unactivated alkene. The utility of this method is demonstrated by various simple derivatizations of the attached hydroxyl group of the coupling products. The preliminary mechanistic investigations suggest a reaction pathway with a rate-limiting C-C forming step followed by facile β-fluoro elimination.

Abstract
The treatment of CF3-bearing cyclopropanes with Et2AlCl generated stabilized difluorocarbocations, which underwent a nucleophilic addition of thiocarboxylic acids or thiols. The sulfur functionality was introduced at the position δ to the fluorine substituents in a regioselective manner (single activation of CF3-cyclopropanes). The formed 1,1-difluoro-1-alkenes underwent successive deesterification/5-endo-trig cyclization. Intramolecular vinylic substitution proceeded in an aprotic solvent, whereas intramolecular addition proceeded in a protic solvent to afford pharmaceutically and agrochemically promising 2-fluoro-4,5-dihydrothiophene and 2,2-difluorotetrahydrothiophene scaffolds, respectively.

Abstract
Hydrofunctionalization of trifluoromethyl alkenes is highly challenging, because the nucleophilic addition is oftentimes followed by β-F elimination in this case. By the use of tetrabutylammonium decatungstate (TBADT) as a hydrogen-atom-transfer (HAT) photocatalyst for acyl C-H activation, we successfully avoid the β-F elimination in the hydroacylation of trifluoromethyl alkenes with aldehydes. This light (390 nm) promoted reaction provides a facile and efficient access to various β-CF3 ketones in complete regiocontrol with high functionality tolerance and 100% atom economy.

Abstract
The construction of ring-fluorinated seven-membered carbocycles was readily achieved via the domino SN2'-type/SNV reaction between 2-(trifluoromethyl)-1-alkenes and 1,4-carbodianions. The SN2'-type reaction of 2-(trifluoromethyl)-1-alkenes with 2,2'-diceriobiaryls generated the intermediary 1,1-difluoro-1-alkenes bearing a monoceriobiaryl moiety, which in turn underwent intramolecular SNV reaction to afford fluorinated 5H-dibenzo[a,c][7]annulenes.

Abstract
The formation of the corresponding benzyl cations [ArHC(+)-CH(X)CF3] takes place under protonation of E-/Z-2-halogeno-2-CF3 styrenes [ArCH═C(X)CF3, X = F, Cl, Br] in superacids. The structures of these new electrophiles were studied by means of NMR and theoretical DFT calculations. According to these data, in the case of bromo derivatives, the formed cations, most probably, exist as cyclic bromonium ions; however, in the cases of chloro and fluoro derivatives, open forms are more preferable. Subsequent reaction of these benzyl cations with arenes proceeds as Friedel-Crafts alkylation to afford 1,1-diaryl-2-halo-3,3,3-trifluoropropanes [Ar(Ar')CH-CH(X)CF3] in high yields (up to 96%) as a mixture of two diastereomers. The prepared halogenopropanes were easily converted into the corresponding mixtures of E-/Z-trifluoromethylated diarylethenes [Ar(Ar')C═CCF3] (in yields up to 96%) by dehydrohalogenation with base (KOH or t-BuOK). The mechanism of elimination (E2 and Ecb) depends on the nature of the leaving group and reaction conditions.

Abstract
3-Difluoromethylated 2,3-dihydrobenzoheteroles, 2,3-dihydrobenzofurans, 2,3-dihydrobenzothiophenes, and indolines were readily synthesized from ortho-heterosubstituted bromobenzenes, 2-bromophenols, 2-bromobenzenethiols, and 2-bromoanilines, respectively, in two steps: (1) γ-selective allylic substitution of 3-bromo-3,3-difluoropropene with heteronucleophiles and (2) intramolecular radical cyclization of the resulting 3,3-difluoroallylic compounds.

Abstract
In order to synthesize polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons with nonlinear arrangements (angular PAHs), acid-promoted domino cyclizations of 1,1-difluoroalk-1-enes and 1,1-difluoroalka-1,3-dienes were studied. 1,1-Difluoroalkenes, each bearing two aryl substituents, were regioselectively protonated with FSO(3)H⋅SbF(5) to generate fluorine-stabilized carbocations, which readily underwent domino Friedel-Crafts-type cyclizations to give carbocycles based on 6/n/m/6 ring systems (n,m=5-7) in good to high yields. Protonation of 1,1-difluoroalka-1,3-dienes took place at their electron-rich methylene (CH(2)) carbon atoms in the presence of milder acids such as camphorsulfonic acid and trifluoromethanesulfonic acid. Domino cyclizations of the resulting fluorine-stabilized allylic carbocations afford carbocycles based on 6/6/6/6 or 6/6/5/6 ring systems in high yields.
