Abstract
Oxidation of 2-furylaninlies with m-CPBA followed by treatment with a base provides access to functionalized indolin-3-ones. The designed oxidative transformation utilizes an underassessed chemical behavior of furyl-containing amines to form a C-N bond via engaging a β-carbon atom of the furan core upon a ring-forming step, thereby providing an alternative disconnection toward nitrogen-containing heterocycles.

Abstract
Three Cd(II) coordination complexes with unique structures and topologies, namely, {[Cd(tttmb)(Hbtc)]·5H2O}n (1), {[Cd(tttmb)(m-phda)(H2O)]·2H2O}n (2), and {[Cd(tttmb)(o-cpla)]·(CH3CN)·(H2O)1.5}n (3), have been successfully synthesized under hydro(solvo)thermally condition based on a flexible tripodal N-contained ligand 1,3,5-tris(1,2,4-triazol-1-ylmethyl)-2,4,6-trimethylbenzene (tttmb) and aromatic polycarboxylate acids (H3btc = 1,2,4-benzenetricarboxylic acid, m-H2phda = 1,3-phenylenediacetic acid and o-H2cpla = Homophthalic acid). Complexes 1–3 were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, X-ray single-crystal diffraction and thermogravimetric analyses. 1 crystallize in the orthorhombic chiral space group P212121 and feature 3D coordination networks. 2 reveals a 2D ladder-like structure with (4,4) topology containing alternating Cd(II)/m-phda2− left- and right-handed helical motifs. 3 exhibits a 3D net with (63)(66)(7·82) topology. The structural and dimensional diversity of these complexes not only indicates that the flexible ligand tttmb exhibits strong coordination ability and diverse coordination modes, but also shows that aromatic polycarboxylates play important roles in constructing the frameworks of complexes. Moreover, the different photoluminescence behaviors of 1–3 have been studied in the solid state.

Abstract
An ionic multifunctional gelator molecule triethylammonium 5-(3,5-bis((1H-tetrazol-5-yl)carbamoyl)benzamido)tetrazol-1-ide G7 is synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic tools and mass spectrometry. G7 tends to form a stable organogel in a mixture of N,N-dimethylformamide/dimethylsulfoxide (DMF/DMSO) and water. Introduction of different metal perchlorate salts in a DMSO solution of G7 furnished a series of metallogels M1G7, M2G7, M3G7, M4G7, M5G7, M6G7, and M7G7 [M1 = Fe(III), M2 = Co(II), M3 = Cu(II), M4 = Zn(II), M5 = Ag(I), M6 = Ni, and M7 = Fe(II)]. Among them, M1G7, M3G7, M4G7, M6G7, and M7G7 help individually in the synthesis and stabilization of bimetallic nanocomposites containing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). Iron(III)-containing nanocomposites M1G7AgNPs have been utilized in the form of catalysts in the reduction reaction of nitroaromatic compounds to corresponding amines with a quantitative yield. The organogel G7 has also shown the abilities to absorb different metal ions from aqueous solutions and allow selective transition of M1G7 from the gel state to the crystalline state. Fe(III) formed dual metallogels with Zn(II), which can be used for further applications. Furthermore, the nanocomposite M1G7AgNP powder, in the presence of the organogel G7, gets converted into a nanostructured metallogel, which shows exclusive self-healing properties. This is the first example where a nanocomposite powder contains the dual-metal system (Fe(III) and Ag(0)) and shows a reduction catalytic property, and its nanostructured dual-metallogel form manifests the self-healing property in a fabricated metallogel.

Abstract
Two novel sodium-pentazolate frameworks (namely, MPF-3 and MPF-4) were achieved by adding simple additives. MPF-3 exhibits an aesthetic three-dimensional (3D) framework with the zeolitic MTN topology, featuring Na28N80 and Na20N60 nanocages. In MPF-4, two left-handed helical chains construct enclosed homochiral channels filled with dimethyl sulfone molecules, which constitute a zeolite-like UNJ topology. Importantly, the preparation of these two compounds provides an effective experimental means to explore the unique symmetrical structure and multiple coordination modes of pentazolium anion and demonstrates that it is possible to regulate the crystal structure through appropriate additives.

Abstract
In the design of new metal-organic frameworks, the constant challenges of framework stability and structural predictability continue to influence ligand choice in favour of well-studied dicarboxylates and similar ligands. However, a small subset of known MOF ligands contains suitable functionality for coordination sphere hydrogen bonding which can provide new opportunities in ligand design. Such interactions may serve to support and rigidity the coordination geometry of mononuclear coordination spheres, as well as providing extra thermodynamic and kinetic stabilisation to meet the challenge of hydrolytic stability in these materials. In this perspective, a collection of pyrazole, amine, amide and carboxylic acid containing species are examined through the lens of (primarily) inner-sphere hydrogen bonding. The influence of these interactions is then related to the overall structure, stability and function of these materials, to provide starting points for harnessing these interactions in future materials design.

Abstract
A three-dimensional bowl-shaped molecular container based on pentazole was first synthesized. These containers are sealed and linked by the assembled "molecular plane". Each container has an ovoid cavity occupied by one DMSO guest molecule. The self-assembly of this molecular container will provide opportunities for the use of pentazole in supramolecular chemistry.

Abstract
Pyrazoles are known as versatile scaffolds in organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry, often used as starting materials for the preparation of more complex heterocyclic systems with relevance in the pharmaceutical field. Pyrazoles are also interesting compounds from a structural viewpoint, mainly because they exhibit tautomerism. This phenomenon may influence their reactivity, with possible impact on the synthetic strategies where pyrazoles take part, as well as on the biological activities of targets bearing a pyrazole moiety, since a change in structure translates into changes in properties. Investigations of the structure of pyrazoles that unravel the tautomeric and conformational preferences are therefore of upmost relevance. 3(5)-Aminopyrazoles are largely explored as precursors in the synthesis of condensed heterocyclic systems, namely pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines. However, the information available in the literature concerning the structure and chemistry of 3(5)-aminopyrazoles is scarce and disperse. We provide a revision of data on the present subject, based on investigations using theoretical and experimental methods, together with the applications of the compounds in synthesis. It is expected that the combined information will contribute to a deeper understanding of structure/reactivity relationships in this class of heterocycles, with a positive impact in the design of synthetic methods, where they take part.

Abstract
Printed circuit boards (PCBs) have a wide range of applications in electronics where they are used for electric signal transfer. For a multilayer build-up, thin copper foils are alternated with epoxy-based prepregs and laminated to each other. Adhesion between copper and epoxy composites is achieved by technologies based on mechanical interlocking or chemical bonding, however for future development, the understanding of failure mechanisms between these materials is of high importance. In literature, various interfacial failures are reported which lead to adhesion loss between copper and epoxy resins. This review aims to give an overview on common coupling technologies and possible failure mechanisms. The information reviewed can in turn lead to the development of new strategies, enhancing the adhesion strength of copper/epoxy joints and, therefore, establishing a basis for future PCB manufacturing.

Quinoline-triazoles 2-((4-(diethoxymethyl)-1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)methyl)quinoline (1), 2-((4-(m-tolyl)-1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)methyl)quinoline (2) and 2-((4-(p-tolyl)-1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)methyl)quinoline (3) have been prepared with CuAAC click reactions and used as a model series to probe the relationship between lattice H-bonding interaction and crystal direction of growth. Crystals of 1-3 are 1D tape and prism shapes that correlate with their intermolecular and solvent 1D lattice H-bonding interactions. All compounds were thermally stable up to about 200 C and blue-green emissive in solution.

Abstract
A series of bi-topic and tri-topic pyrazolyl-1,2,3-triazolyl donor ligands (; = 1,X-bis((4-((1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)-1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene (X = 2, 3 and 4; o-C6H4(PyT)2, m-C6H4(PyT)2 and p-C6H4(PyT)2) and = 1,3,5-tris((4-((1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)-1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene, 1,3,5-C6H3(PyT)3) were conveniently synthesised in 'one pot' reactions using the Cu(i) catalysed 'click' reaction. Rh(i), Ir(i), Rh(iii) and Ir(iii) complexes with ligands of the general formulae C6H6-n[(PyT)M(CO)2]n[BAr]n (M = Rh, Ir; n = 2, 3; ; ) and C6H6-n[(PyT)MCp*Cl]n[BAr]n (M = Rh, Ir; n = 2, 3; ; ) were synthesised and fully characterised. In solution each of the bi- or tri-metallic complexes and exists as a mixture of two (, ) or three ( and ) diastereomers due to the presence of a chiral centre at each metal centre in these complexes. The solid state structures of complexes and were determined by single crystal X-ray crystallography and showed that each bidentate arm of these multitopic ligands coordinates to the Rh or Ir centre in a bidentate fashion via the pyrazolyl-N2 and 1,2,3-triazolyl N3' donors. The intermetallic distances in these solid state structures vary from 8.66 Å to 15.17 Å. These complexes were assessed as catalysts for the dihydroalkoxylation of alkynes using the cyclisation of 2-(5-hydroxypent-1-ynyl)benzyl alcohol, , to a mixture of two spiroketals, 2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-spirol[furan-2,3'-isochroman], , and 3',4',5',6'-tetrahydro-spiro[isobenzofuran-1(3H),2'(2H)pyran], , as the model reaction. The Rh(i) complexes (), with the highest TOF of 2052 h(-1) for complex , were the most active catalysts when compared with the other complexes under investigation here. The Ir(i) complexes () were moderately active as catalysts for the same transformation. No significant enhancement in catalytic reactivity was observed with the Rh(i) series bi- and trimetallic complexes () when compared with their monometallic analogues. The bi- and trimetallic Ir(i) complexes () were much more efficient as catalysts for this transformation than their monometallic analogues, suggesting some intermetallic cooperativity. Rh(iii), , and Ir(iii), , complexes were not active as catalysts for this transformation.

Abstract
In addition to being a covalent linker in molecular conjugation chemistry, the function of a 1,2,3-triazolyl moiety resulting from the copper(I)-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition reaction as a ligand for metal ions is receiving considerable attention. In this work, we characterize the thermodynamic and kinetic effects of incorporating a 1,2,3-triazolyl group in a multidentate ligand scaffold on metal coordination in the context of fluorescent zinc(II) indicator development. Ligands L14, BrL14, and FL14 (1,4-isomers) contain the 1,4-disubstituted-1,2,3-triazolyl group that is capable of binding with zinc(II) in conjunction with a di(2-picolylamino) (DPA) moiety within a multidentate ligand scaffold. Therefore, the 1,2,3-triazolyl in the 1,4-isomers is "integrated" in chelation. The 1,5-isomers L15, BrL15, and FL15 contain 1,2,3-triazolyls that are excluded from participating in zinc(II) coordination. These 1,2,3-triazolyls are "passive linkers". Zinc(II) complexes of 2:1 (ligand/metal) stoichiometry are identified in solution using (1)H NMR spectroscopy and isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) and, in one case, characterized in the solid state. The 1:1 ligand/zinc(II) affinity ratio of L14 over L15, which is attributed to the affinity enhancement of a 1,2,3-triazolyl group to zinc(II) over that of the solvent acetonitrile, is quantified at 18 (-1.7 kcal/mol at 298 K) using an ITC experiment. Fluorescent ligands FL14 and FL15 are evaluated for their potential in zinc(II) sensing applications under pH neutral aqueous conditions. The 1,4-isomer FL14 binds zinc(II) both stronger and faster than the 1,5-isomer FL15. Visualization of free zinc(II) ion distribution in live HeLa cells is achieved using both FL14 and FL15. The superiority of FL14 in staining endogenous zinc(II) ions in live rat hippocampal slices is evident. In summation, this work is a fundamental study of 1,2,3-triazole coordination chemistry, with a demonstration of its utility in developing fluorescent indicators.

Abstract
A series of functionalized adamantanes: 1,3-bis(1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)(tr(2)ad); 1,3,5-tris(1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)-(tr(3)ad); 1,3,5,7-tetrakis(1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)adamantanes (tr(4)ad) and 3,5,7-tris(1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)-1-azaadamantane (tr(3)ada) were developed as a new family of geometrically rigid polydentate tectons for supramolecular synthesis of framework solids. The coordination compounds were prepared under hydrothermal conditions; their structures reveal a special potential of the triazolyl adamantanes for the generation of highly-connected and open frameworks as well as structures based upon polynuclear metal clusters assembled with short-distance N(1),N(2)-triazole bridges. Complexes [Cd{L}(2)]A·nH(2)O [L = tr(3)ad, A = 2NO(3)(-) (4), CdCl(4)(2-) (5); L = tr(3)ada, A = CdI(4)(2-) (7)] are isomorphous and adopt a layered 3,6-connected structure of CdI(2) type. [{Cu(3)(OH)}(2)(SO(4))(5)(H(2)O)(2){tr(3)ad}(3)]·26H(2)O (6) is a layered polymer based upon Cu(3)(μ(3)-OH) nodes and trigonal tr(3)ad links. In [Cu(3)(OH)(2){tr(3)ada}(2)(H(2)O)(4)](ClO(4))(4) (8), [Cu(2){tr(3)ada}(2)(H(2)O)(3)](SO(4))(2)·7H(2)O (9) and [Cd(2){tr(3)ada}(3)]Cl(4)·28H(2)O (10) (UCl(3)-type net) the organic tripodal ligands bridge polynuclear metal clusters. Complexes [Ag{tr(4)ad}]NO(3)·3.5H(2)O (11) and [Cu{tr(4)ad}(H(2)O)](ClO(4))(2)·3H(2)O (12) have 3D SrAl(2)-type frameworks with the metal ions and adamantane tectons as topologically equivalent tetrahedral nodes, while in [Cd(3)Cl(6){tr(4)ad}(2)]·9H(2)O (13) the ligands bridge trinuclear six-connected Cd(3)Cl(6)(μ-tr)(4)(tr)(2) clusters. In the compounds [Cd(2){tr(2)ad}(4)(H(2)O)(4)](CdBr(4))(2)·2H(2)O (2) and [Cd{tr(2)ad}(4){CdI(3)}(2)]·4H(2)O (3) the bitopic ligands provide simple links between the metal ions, while in [Ag(2){tr(2)ad}(2)](NO(3))(2)·2H(2)O (1) the ligand is tetradentate and generates a 3D framework.
