Abstract
Lipid droplets (LDs) have emerged as major regulators of cellular metabolism, encompassing lipid storage, membrane synthesis, viral replication, and protein degradation. Exclusive studies have suggested a direct link between LDs and cancer, as a notable abundance of LDs is found in cancerous cells. Therefore, monitoring the location, distribution, and movements of LDs is of paramount importance for understanding their involvement in biological processes. To target LDs, we designed and synthesized fluorophores with a styryl scaffold bearing electron-donating amino groups and pyridine-N-oxide, a zwitterionic acceptor moiety. We explored their photophysical properties in various solvents and conducted systematic DFT calculations on the synthesized fluorescent molecules, comparing them with neutral pyridine and cationic pyridinium styryl dyes. The results demonstrate that diphenylaminostyryl pyridine-N-oxide (TNO) shows excellent imaging of LDs, in contrast to the behavior of cationic styrylpyridinium (TNC), which primarily localizes within the mitochondria. Notably, pyridine N-oxide offers several benefits: an increased dipole moment facilitating charge separation between donors and acceptors, substantial HOMO and LUMO stabilization, improved water solubility, favorable redox properties, and bathochromic-shifted absorption/emission spectra, showing promise as a fluorescent tool for probing the cellular-biological realm.

Abstract
A cobalt(III)-catalyzed C-8 selective C-H amidation of quinoline N-oxide using dioxazolone as an amidating reagent under mild conditions is disclosed. The reaction proceeds efficiently with excellent functional group compatibility. The utility of the current method is demonstrated by gram scale synthesis of C-8 amide quinoline N-oxide and by converting this amidated product into functionalized quinolines. Furthermore, the developed catalytic method is also applicable for C-7 amidation of N-pyrimidylindolines and ortho-amidation of benzamides.

Abstract
The photophysical properties of newly identified B,B-fluoro-perfluoroalkyl BODIPYs (2 and 3), which possess a fluoro group and a trifluoromethyl or pentafluoroethyl group at the boron center, were investigated. B,B-Fluoro-perfluoroalkyl BODIPYs 2 and 3 exhibited better photophysical/chemical properties than B,B-difluoro-BODIPY 1, as follows: (1) higher photostability both in methanol solvent and in a live cell environment, (2) higher stability against acid degradation, and (3) improved fluorescence signal-to-noise ratios in a cell system. These favorable properties of B,B-fluoro-perfluoroalkyl BODIPYs are likely due to the highly electron-withdrawing nature of the perfluoroalkyl groups on the boron atom, which reduces the reactivity to 1O2 and strengthens the complexation of the dipyrromethene ligands to the boron atom. Thus, B,B-fluoro perfluoroalkyl BODIPYs may be useful functional molecules for various applications.

Abstract
Chemical or electrochemical one-electron oxidation of 5-N-arylaminothiazoles was found to afford stable radical cations. For chemical oxidation, 1 equivalent of [(4-BrC6H4)3N][SbCl6] (Magic Blue, MB) was added to CH2Cl2 solutions of the thiazoles, and the thus-obtained radicals showed light absorption in the near-infrared region. Electrochemical oxidation also led to bathochromic shifts in the absorption bands, and the obtained spectra were similar to those derived from the chemically oxidized species. These radicals afforded electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra that are consistent with the notion of stable nitrogen radicals (half-life≤385 h). The EPR spectrum of a thiazole containing 4-dimethylaminophenyl groups on the nitrogen atom at the 5-position changed significantly upon adding >3 equivalents of MB. Details of the electronic structures of the experimentally obtained radical cations were generated from theoretical calculations.
