Abstract
Water-stable anionic Ln2L2-type (Ln = LaIII and EuIII) lanthanide-organic macrocycles have been constructed by deprotonation self-assembly of a bis-tridentate ligand consisting of two 2,6-bis-(1,2,4-triazole)-pyridine chelation arms bridged by a dibenzofuran chromophore, of which the luminescent Eu2L2 macrocycle can be used for enantiomeric excess (ee) detection toward pybox-type chiral ligands and selective colorimetric sensing of omethoate (OMA) in water.

Abstract
The synthesis of sandwich-shaped multinuclear silver complexes with planar penta- and tetranuclear wheel-shaped silver units and a central anion, [Agn(2-HPB)2(A-)](OTf-)n-1, nAgA, n = 4 or 5 and A- = OH- or F- or Cl-, is reported, along with complete spectroscopic and structural characterization. An NMR mechanistic study reveals that silver complexes were formed in the following order: 2Ag → 3AgH2O → 5AgOH → 4AgOH. The central hydroxides in 4AgOH and 5AgOH exhibit exotic physical properties due to the confined environment inside the complex. The size of these silver wheels can be tuned by changing the central anion or extracting/adding one silver atom. This study provides the facile way to synthesize discrete wheel-shaped multinuclear silver complexes and provides valuable insights into the dynamics of the self-assembly process.

Abstract
Lanthanide-containing functional complexes have found a variety of applications in materials science and biomedicine because of their unique electroptical and magnetic properties. However, the poor stability and solubility in water of multicomponent lanthanide organic assemblies significantly limit their practical applications. We report here a series of water-stable anionic Ln2nL3n-type (n = 2, 3, 4, and 5) lanthanide organic polyhedra (LOPs) constructed by deprotonation self-assembly of three fully conjugated ligands (H4L1 and H4L2a/b) featuring a 2,6-pyridine bitetrazolate chelating moiety. The outcomes of the LOPs formation reactions were found to be very sensitive toward the reaction conditions including base, metal source, solvents, and concentrations as characterized by a combination of NMR, high-resolution ESI-MS and X-ray crystallography. Ligands H4L2a/b manifested an excellent sensitization toward lanthanide ions (Ln = EuIII and TbIII), with high luminescent quantum yields for Tb8L2a12 (Φ = 11.2% in water) and Eu8L2b12 (Φ = 76.8% in DMSO) measured in polar solvents. Furthermore, due to the giant molecular weight and rigidity of the polyhedral skeleton, Gd8L2b12 showed a very high longitudinal relaxivity (r1) of 400.53 mM-1S-1. The performance of Gd8L2b12 as potential magnetic resonance imaging contrast agents (CAs) in vivo was evaluated with much longer retention time in the tumor sites compared with the commercial GdIII-based CAs. Dual-modal imaging potential has also been demonstrated with the mixed Eu/Gd LOPs. Our results not only provide a new design route toward water-stable multinuclear lanthanide organic assemblies but also offer potential candidates of supramolecular-edifices for bioimaging and drug delivery.

Abstract
Separation of C2H4 from C2H4/C2H2/C2H6 mixture with high working capacity is still a challenging task. Herein, we deliberately design a Th-metal-organic framework (MOF) for highly efficient separation of C2H4 from a binary C2H6/C2H4 and ternary C2H4/C2H2/C2H6 mixture. The synthesized MOF Azole-Th-1 shows a UiO-66-type structure with fcu topology built on a Th6 secondary building unit and a tetrazole-based linker. Such noticeable structure, is connected by a N,O-donor ligand with high chemical stability. At 100 kPa and 298 K Azole-Th-1 performs excellent separation of C2H4 (purity > 99.9%) from not only a binary C2H6/C2H4 (1:9, v/v) mixture but also a ternary mixture of C2H6/C2H2/C2H4 (9:1:90, v/v/v), and the corresponding working capacity can reach up to 1.13 and 1.34 mmol g-1, respectively. The separation mechanism, as unveiled by the density functional theory calculation, is due to a stronger van der Waals interaction between ethane and the MOF skeleton.

Abstract
A series of thiocyanato-bridged heterometallic coordination polymers with a 3D reticular network have been synthesised by the reaction of [PtIV(SCN)6]2- with MII ions to form {MII[PtIV(SCN)6]}n and {[MII(CH3OH)2][PtIV(SCN)6]}n (MII = MnII, FeII, CoII, NiII or CuII) in water and methanol, respectively. Single-crystal X-ray analyses revealed the absence of open metal sites in {MII[PtIV(SCN)6]}ns and the formation of potential open metal sites at the MII ions of {[MII(CH3OH)2][PtIV(SCN)6]}ns by the coordination of methanol. One of the two coordinating methanol molecules in {[CoII(CH3OH)2][PtIV(SCN)6]}n was replaced with pyridine to stabilise the open metal sites, because the methanol molecules are too labile to maintain open metal sites in water. The heterogeneous catalysis of coordination polymers with and without open metal sites was examined for organophosphate hydrolysis and photocatalytic water oxidation to clarify the requisites for heterogeneous catalysts.
