A new benzimidazole-based selective and sensitive 'on-off' fluorescence chemosensor for Cu2+ ions and application in cellular bioimaging

Development in Fluorescent OFF-ON Probes Based on Cu2+ Promoted Hydrolysis Reaction of the Picolinate Moiety

Anions and cations have a key role in our normal life. Cu²⁺ ion is a crucial trace element accountable for the part of several cellular enzymes and proteins, including cytochrome c oxidase, dopamine monooxygenase, Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase, and ceruloplasmin. WHO has found the extreme acceptable level of Cu²⁺ ions in drinking water is up to 2.0 ppm. Excess use of Cu²⁺ ions is associated with various human genetic disorders. Thus, the visualization of Cu²⁺ ions to avoid its toxic effects in chemical and biological systems is significant. In this review we have summarized sensors based on catalytic hydrolysis of picolinate to detect Cu²⁺ ions. The sensors based on hydrolysis of picolinate are very selective as compared to the other sensors for Cu²⁺ ions detection. We have focused on describing the structure, spectral properties, detection limits, and bioimaging model of the sensors.

Microwave-assisted synthesis for a highly selective rhodamine 6G-derived fluorescent sensor and bioimaging

A new rhodamine 6G derivative R1 has been synthesized by condensation of rhodamine hydrazide and 6-hydroxymethyl-pyridine using microwave-assisted reaction. Naked-eye colorimetric and photo physical studies show the synthesized compound is selectively sensing Cu2+ in CH3CN/H2O (9:1, v/v) solution. Upon coordination with Cu2+ ion, the spirolactam of R1 is opened, which results in a formation of highly fluorescent complex and change in color of the solution. The Job's plot indicates 1:2 binding stoichiometry between Cu2+ ion and R1. Limit of detection for Cu2+ was determined to be 1.23 μM. The sensor was successfully applied to fluorescent imaging of Cu2+ ion in living cells.

Intelligent Big Information Retrieval of Smart Library Based on Graph Neural Network (GNN) Algorithm

In order to provide users with more humanized and intelligent big data knowledge services, a research method of intelligent big information retrieval of Smart Library Based on graph neural network (GNN) algorithm is proposed. Through the key technical problems and solutions of information recommendation represented by graph neural network (GNN) algorithm, this method explores how the library can realize the management and value mining of big data knowledge services. The research shows that the intelligent information retrieval of Smart Library Based on graph neural network (GNN) algorithm is 80% higher than the previous general methods. Graph neural network is a more advantageous algorithm for node classification, link prediction, node clustering, or network visualization, which is of great help to improve the efficiency of information retrieval.

White light employing luminescent engineered large (mega) Stokes shift molecules: a review

Large (mega) Stokes shift molecules have shown great potential in white light emission for optoelectronic applications, such as flat panel display technology, light-emitting diodes, photosensitizers, molecular probes, cellular and bioimaging, and other applications. This review aims to summarize recent developments of white light generation that incorporate a large Stokes shift component, key approaches to designing large Stokes shift molecules, perspectives on future opportunities, and remaining challenges confronting this emerging research field. After a brief introduction of feasible pathways in generating white light, exemplifications of large Stokes shift molecules as white light candidates from organic and inorganic-based materials are illustrated. Various possible ways to design such molecules have been revealed by integrating the photophysical mechanisms that are essential to produce red-shifted emission upon photoexcitation, such as excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT), intramolecular charge transfer (ICT), excited state geometrical relaxation or structural deformation, aggregation-induced emission (AIE) alongside the different formations of aggregates, interplay between monomer and excimer emission, host-guest interaction, and lastly metal to ligand charge transfer (MLCT) via harvesting triplet state. Furthermore, previously reported fluorescent materials are described and categorized based on luminescence behaviors on account of the Stokes shifts value. This review will serve as a rationalized introduction and reference for researchers who are interested in exploring large or mega Stokes shift molecules, and will motivate new strategies along with instigation of persistent efforts in this prominent subject area with great avenues.
