Organic luminescence materials makes the molecule more enthusiastic in wide variety of applications. The luminescent organic materials are in a attraction of the researchers, and the Aggregation-Induced Emission (AIE) is attributed to the occurrence that particular chromophores (typically fluorophores) display very low or nearly no emission in the monomolecular soluble state but become highly emissive when forming aggregates in solution or in solid state. This phenomenon is relatively abnormal when compared with many other traditional fluorophores. AIE research suppresses aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ). Nevertheless, the carbon dots (CDs) and quantum dots have shown to have tyical florescence properties, therefore, recent years many researchers have also attracted for their developments. The CDs, luminescent, and AIE materials are not only used in biomedical applications and organic light-emitting diodes but also in sensing, self-assembly, and other areas. One should introduce promising material to a designed framework that exhibits AIE characteristics to ensure moral results in AIE. Amongest, AIE-active tetraphenylethylene (TPE) is attractive fluorophores due to its easy synthesis strategy. This review article discusses the synthesis properties of TPE, CDs, and luminescent materials with a broad range of applications. We have outlined linear, branched-shaped supramolecular, and hybrid macromolecules due to its potential in the future.

Optical molecular imaging and theranostics in neurological diseases based on aggregation-induced emission luminogens

Optical molecular imaging and image-guided theranostics benefit from special and specific imaging agents, for which aggregation-induced emission luminogens (AIEgens) have been regarded as good candidates in many biomedical applications. They display a large Stokes shift, high quantum yield, good biocompatibility, and resistance to photobleaching. Neurological diseases are becoming a substantial burden on individuals and society that affect over 50 million people worldwide. It is urgently needed to explore in more detail the brain structure and function, learn more about pathological processes of neurological diseases, and develop more efficient approaches for theranostics. Many AIEgens have been successfully designed, synthesized, and further applied for molecular imaging and image-guided theranostics in neurological diseases such as cerebrovascular disease, neurodegenerative disease, and brain tumor, which help us understand more about the pathophysiological state of brain through noninvasive optical imaging approaches. Herein, we focus on representative AIEgens investigated on brain vasculature imaging and theranostics in neurological diseases including cerebrovascular disease, neurodegenerative disease, and brain tumor. Considering different imaging modalities and various therapeutic functions, AIEgens have great potential to broaden neurological research and meet urgent needs in clinical practice. It will be inspiring to develop more practical and versatile AIEgens as molecular imaging agents for preclinical and clinical use on neurological diseases.

Recent Advances in Aggregation-Induced Emission Active Materials for Sensing of Biologically Important Molecules and Drug Delivery System

The emergence and development of aggregation induced emission (AIE) have attracted worldwide attention due to its unique photophysical phenomenon and for removing the obstacle of aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) which is the most detrimental process thereby making AIE an important and promising aspect in various fields of fluorescent material, sensing, bioimaging, optoelectronics, drug delivery system, and theranostics. In this review, we have discussed insights and explored recent advances that are being made in AIE active materials and their application in sensing, biological cell imaging, and drug delivery systems, and, furthermore, we explored AIE active fluorescent material as a building block in supramolecular chemistry. Herein, we focus on various AIE active molecules such as tetraphenylethylene, AIE-active polymer, quantum dots, AIE active metal-organic framework and triphenylamine, not only in terms of their synthetic routes but also we outline their applications. Finally, we summarize our view of the construction and application of AIE-active molecules, which thus inspiring young researchers to explore new ideas, innovations, and develop the field of supramolecular chemistry in years to come.

Aggregation Induced Emissive Luminogens for Sensing of Toxic Elements

The major findings in the growing field of aggregation induced emissive (AIE) active materials for the detection of environmental toxic pollutants have been summarized and discussed in this Review article. Owing to the underlying photophysical phenomenon, fluorescent AIE active molecules show more impact on sensing applications. The major focus in current research efforts is on the development of AIE active materials such as TPE based organic fluorescent molecules, metal organic framework, and polymers that can be employed for the detection of toxic pollutants such as CN- , NO2- , Hg2+ , Cd2+ , As3+ , As5+ , F- , Pb2+ , Sb3+ ions.
