Abstract
Through the approach of molecular hybridization, this study rationally designed and synthesized new trifluoromethyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole amide derivatives, denoted as 1a-1n. The findings reveal that these novel molecules exhibit potent inhibitory effects against various bacterial strains. Thereinto, compounds 1c, 1d, 1i, 1j and 1n, demonstrate relatively superior antimicrobial performance against B. cereus FM314, with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 0.03907 μg/mL. Molecular docking analysis suggests the potential importance of the Ser57 and Thr125 amino acid residues (PDB ID: 4EI9) in contributing to the inhibitory activity against B. cereus. The consistency of these results was further corroborated through subsequent molecular dynamics simulations and MMPBSA validations. The insights gained from this study serve to facilitate the rational design and efficient development of novel eco-friendly antimicrobial inhibitors based on the trifluoromethyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole amide scaffold.

Abstract
A series of isatin derivatives containing an adenine or theophylline fragment have been synthesized. The corresponding N′-[2-(trimethylammonio)acetyl] and N′-(2-pyridinioacetyl) hydrazones have been found to exhibit neither cytotoxicity nor hemotoxicity. Quaternary salts based on adenine derivatives of 5-methyl- and 5-ethylisatins showed the highest antiplatelet activity which exceeded the activity of acetylsalicylic acid by a factor of 1.5.

Abstract
Water-soluble trialkylammonium isatin-3-hydrazone derivatives bearing hydroxybenzyl substituent were easily synthesized with high yields. XRD studies confirmed the presence of these compounds as trans-( Z )-isomers in a crystal. It was shown that an increase in the lipophilicity of the cationic center leads to an increase in activity against Gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus, including methicillin-resistant (MRSA) strains. The MIC values of the leading compounds turned out to be 2-100 times higher than the MIC of norfloxacin against the MRSA strains in the absence of hemo- and cytotoxicity. Antiaggregation and anticoagulation properties were in vitro better than for acetylsalicylic acid and sodium heparin drugs. It has been shown by UV spectroscopy and fluorescence microscopy that the mechanism of antimicrobial action of new acylhydrazones is associated with their ability to destroy the bacterial cell membrane.

Abstract
The emergence and worldwide spread of drug-resistant bacteria have already posed a serious threat to human life, creating the urgent need to develop potent and novel antibacterial drug candidates with high efficacy. Indole and isatin (indole-2,3-dione) present a wide structural and mechanistic diversity, so their derivatives possess various pharmacological properties and occupy a salient place in the development of new drugs. Indole/isatin-containing hybrids, which demonstrate a promising activity against a panel of clinically important Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, are privileged scaffolds for the discovery of novel antibacterial candidates. This review, covering articles published between January 2015 and May 2020, focuses on the development and structure-activity relationship (SAR) of indole/isatin-containing hybrids with potential application for fighting bacterial infections, to facilitate further rational design of novel drug candidates.

Abstract
The increase in the resistance of pathogens, in particular Staphylococcus aureus, to the action of antibiotics necessitates the search for new readily available and non-toxic drugs. In solving this problem, phenolic acylhydrazones have high potential. In this communication, the synthesis of quaternary ammonium compounds containing a differently substituted phenolic moiety has been performed. An initial study of antimicrobial activity showed that these compounds are highly selective against S. aureus and B. cereus. The highest activity (MIC 2.0 μm) was shown by hydrazones containing a catechol fragment. These compounds are more than 3-fold more active against S. aureus and 3-10-fold more active against B. cereus than norfloxacin. Low hemolytic and high antioxidant activities of all new compounds were also established.

Abstract
In this work, two novel series of indole-thiosemicarbazone derivatives were designed, synthesized, and evaluated for their cytotoxic activity against MCF-7, A-549, and Hep-G2 cell lines in comparison to etoposide and colchicine as the reference drugs. Generally, the synthesized compounds showed better cytotoxicity towards A-549 and Hep-G2 than MCF-7. Among them, (2E)-2-{[2-(4-chlorophenyl)-1H-indol-3-yl]methylidene}-N-(4-methoxyphenyl)hydrazinecarbothioamide (8l) was found to be the most potent compound against A-549 and Hep-G2, at least three times more potent than etoposide. The morphological analysis by the acridine orange/ethidium bromide double staining test and flow cytometry analysis indicated that compound 8l induced apoptosis in A-549 cells. Moreover, molecular docking methodology was exploited to elucidate the details of molecular interactions of the studied compounds with putative targets.
