Aneurysms of saphenous vein grafts (SVGs) to coronary arteries are rare, usually asymptomatic and found incidentally. We report a case of an 84-year-old female who was found to have 8.1 × 8.4 cm aneurysm of an SVG to obtuse marginal (OM) artery. The aneurysm was prior to the distal anastamosis but no flow into the OM artery was noted. Cook Tornado Embolization Coils were used successfully to occlude the SVG proximal to the aneurysm. No complications occurred. The use of embolization coils is an effective and safe method for aneurysm occlusion when the anatomy is suitable and especially when patient is high risk for repeat surgical intervention.

Tandem aneurysms of an internal mammary-aortocoronary bypass graft

Graft aneurysms following aortocoronary surgery are a rare occurrence in clinical practice. Reported cases have mostly involved saphenous vein grafts. Here we report the rare finding of a tandem aneurysm of an internal mammary artery graft which was incidentally detected 17 years following bypass surgery. (Neth Heart J 2009;17:300-2.).

Pseudoaneurysm of the Internal Mammary Artery as an Unusual Cause of Post-sternotomy Hemorrhage: The Role of Multislice Computed Tomography in the Diagnosis and Treatment Planning

Pseudoaneurysm of the internal mammary artery (IMA) following median sternotomy is extremely rare. To date, the reported cases are only in single figures. The majority of these pseudoaneurysms were suspected from the clinical presentation, echocardiography or computed tomography (CT) but were only confirmed on contrast angiography. This case report demonstrates the current ability to carry out detailed vascular imaging on a 16-slice CT scanner. This accurate delineation of the pseudoaneurysm allowed targeted therapeutic embolization to be performed without unnecessary angiographic imaging.
