Abstract
Sonochemistry uses ultrasound to improve or modify chemical reactions. Sonochemistry occurs when the ultrasound causes chemical effects on the reaction system, such as the formation of free radicals, that intensify the reaction. Many studies have investigated the synthesis of nanomaterials by the sonochemical method, but there is still very limited information on the detailed characterization of these physicochemical and morphological nanoparticles. In this comprehensive review, recent advances in the sonochemical synthesis of nanomaterials based on iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe3O4NP), gold nanoparticles (AuNP) and iron oxide-coated gold nanoparticles (Fe3O4@Au NP) are discussed. These materials are the most studied materials for various applications, such as medical and commercial uses. This review will: (1) address the simple processing and observations on the principles of sonochemistry as a starting point for understanding the fundamental mechanisms, (2) summarize and review the most relevant publications and (3) describe the typical shape of the products provided in sonochemistry. All in all, this review's main outcome will provide a comprehensive overview of the available literature knowledge that promotes and encourages future sonochemical work.

Abstract
Density functional theory was used to study the Ag-doped Cu@CuO core-shell structure, electronic properties and catalytic properties. Similar to the undoped Cu@CuO clusters, the Ag doped clusters also retain the core-shell structure. Ag doping increases the charge transfer between surrounding O atoms and Cu atoms and reduces the potential of the core-shell structure, thereby increasing its surface activity. The study of its orbital distribution found that the doping of Ag atoms caused the interaction between the inner Cu core and the outer CuO shell, which changed the electron orbital motion inside the shell. The internal chemical stability of the core-shell material is improved. In addition, Ag atom doping accelerates the decomposition of H2O2 on Cu@CuO structure and increases its adsorption of small molecules, which indicates that Ag atom doping improves the catalytic performance of Cu@CuO structure.

Abstract
Abstract
Boron nitride (BN) supported palladium (Pd) nanostructured catalyst, as an alternative support for heterogeneous reduction of nitrobenzene derivatives, was prepared by a mild reduction of a Pd precursor in water. The structural characteristics and distribution of the synthesized Pd nanoparticles (NPs) on BN support were investigated by transmission electron microscopy, scanning transmission electron microscopy, energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy methods. The potential and efficiency of the BN supported Pd NPs as an active and stable nanostructured catalyst were verified in the reduction of nitroaromatics. Excellent yields of the corresponding aryl amines in water were obtained and due discussion were included about the catalytic activity of the synthesized catalyst. It was also indicated that the nanostructured catalyst can be recycled at least for six consecutive cycles in the reduction of nitrobenzene, without losing significant activity.

Abstract
A new type of spindle-shaped nanoscale yolk/shell magnetic stirring bar containing noble metal nanoparticles was prepared. The as-synthesized Pd-Fe@meso-SiO2 not only showed impressive activity and stability as a heterogeneous catalyst in a macroscopic flask system, but also acted as an efficient nanoscale magnetic stir bar in a microscopic droplet system.

Abstract
Core-shell nanoparticles (CSNs) are a class of nanostructured materials that have recently received increased attention owing to their interesting properties and broad range of applications in catalysis, biology, materials chemistry and sensors. By rationally tuning the cores as well as the shells of such materials, a range of core-shell nanoparticles can be produced with tailorable properties that can play important roles in various catalytic processes and offer sustainable solutions to current energy problems. Various synthetic methods for preparing different classes of CSNs, including the Stöber method, solvothermal method, one-pot synthetic method involving surfactants, etc., are briefly mentioned here. The roles of various classes of CSNs are exemplified for both catalytic and electrocatalytic applications, including oxidation, reduction, coupling reactions, etc.

Abstract
A novel, solution-based route to biocompatible, cysteine-capped gold-zinc telluride (Au-ZnTe) core-shell nanoparticles with potential in biomedical applications is described. The optical properties of the core-shell nanoparticles show combined beneficial features of the individual parent components. The tunable emission properties of the semiconductor shell render the system useful for imaging and biological labeling applications. Powder X-ray diffraction analysis reveals the particles contain crystalline Au and ZnTe. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) imaging of the particles indicates they are largely spherical with sizes in the order of 2-10 nm. Elemental mapping using X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (XEDS) in the scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM) mode supports a core-shell morphology. The biocompatibility and cytotoxicity of the core-shells was investigated on a human pancreas adenocarcinoma (PL45) cell line using the WST-1 cell viability assay. The results showed that the core-shells had no adverse effects on the PL45 cellular proliferation or morphology. TEM imaging of PL45 cell cross sections confirmed the cellular uptake and isolation of the core-shell nanoparticles within the cytoplasm via membrane interactions. The fluorescence properties of the Au-ZnTe core-shell structures within the PL45 cell lines results confirmed their bio-imaging potential. The importance and novelty of this research lies in the combination of gold and zinc telluride used to produce a water soluble, biocompatible nanomaterial which may be exploited for drug delivery applications within the domain of oncology.

Abstract
Co3O4 spheroids of different texture without/with Au deposition were highly active yet very durable at 60–90 °C for CO oxidation. The calcined Co3O4-based catalysts and the yolk–shell type one were even more durable. The catalysts encountered obvious enhancement in CO oxidation activity via in situ pretreatment.

Abstract
A hierarchical core-shell-satellite structured composite system Fe3O4@MS-NH2@Pd, which was composed of Pd nanoparticles well-dispersed on an amino group functionalized mesoporous silica (MS-NH2) nanosphere, and superparamagnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles scattered inside the silica sphere, was prepared by using a facile procedure. The composite combined the catalytic properties of amino groups and Pd nanoparticles with superparamagnetic properties of magnetite into a single platform. This integrated nanosystem acted as an efficient magnetically recyclable noble metal-base multifunctional nanocatalyst and showed excellent catalytic activity, selectivity and stability for the direct synthesis of α-alkylated nitriles under mild conditions through facile one-pot multistep cascade reaction sequences.
