Activation of the C[double bond, length as m-dash]P bond in phosphanylphosphaalkenes (C[double bond, length as m-dash]P-P bond system) in the reaction with nucleophilic reagents: MeLi, nBuLi and tBuLi. Abstract
Three reactions of phosphanylphosphaalkene (1) with nucleophiles were performed to activate the diphosphorus monomer. We observed similar results in the reactions with MeLi and nBuLi, in which the P-P bond is cleavaged and triphosphorus systems [P(Me)2-CH(biph)-CH(biph)-P-(PtBu2)]- (1a'') and [P(nBu)2-CH(biph)-CH(biph)-P-(PtBu2)]- (1b''), respectively, are formed depending on the nucleophilic reagent (biph = biphenyl). In the case of tBuLi, the P-P bond remains intact; on the phosphorus atom, only one -tBu group is substituted, and as a result, [(biph)(H)C-P(tBu)-PtBu2]- (1c) is generated as a stable carbanion. We additionally investigated the effect of substitution in the phenyl ring in the course of these reactions by involving two other phosphanylphosphaalkenes (3 and 4). All initial reactions were conducted in tetrahydrofuran (THF) solution at ambient temperature.

Abstract
The phosphanoxy-substituted phosphaalkene bearing the P=C-O-P skeleton can be prepared from diphosphene Mes*P=PMes* (Mes*=2,4,6-tBu3 C6 H2 ), and their use for catalysis is of interest. In this paper, complexation of the phosphanoxy-substituted phosphaalkenes with gold are investigated, and the catalytic activity of the mono- and bis(chlorogold) complexes are subsequently evaluated. Reaction of the P=C-O-P compound with (tht)AuCl (tht=tetrahydrothiophene) showed dominant coordination on the sp3 phosphorus, and complete coordination on the sp2 phosphorus required removal of tetrahydrothiophene. Atoms In Molecules (AIM) analysis based on the X-ray structure of the mono(chlorogold) complex indicated a pseudo coordinating interaction between the gold center and the P=C unit. The bis(chlorogold) complexes displayed conformational isomerism, and catalyzed the cycloisomerization/alkoxycyclization of 1,6-enyne and for hydration of terminal alkyne without activation treatment. Even the mono(chlorogold) complexes catalyzed the alkoxycyclization reactions without a silver co-catalyst, indicating that the alcohols were effective in activating the AuCl unit.

Abstract
Cu(I), Ag(I), and Au(I) complexes of monophosphine or bisphosphine ligands based on the 3,3,4,4,5,5-hexafluorocyclopentene skeleton were synthesized and structurally characterized by X-ray crystallographic analysis. The electron-withdrawing nature of these polyfluorinated phosphines was experimentally revealed via UV/vis absorption studies and crystal structure analysis. Successful catalytic application of the Au(I) complex for alkyne hydration reactions was investigated.

Abstract
This account summarizes our recent studies on PNP-pincer-type phosphaalkene complexes. Phosphaalkenes with a P=C bond possess an extremely low-lying π* orbital and have a marked tendency to engage in strong π back-bonding with transition metals. This particular ligand property provides PNP-pincer complexes with unique structures and reactivities. 2,6-Bis(phosphaethenyl)pyridine leads to the isolation of coordinatively unsaturated complexes of Fe(I) and Cu(I); the former adopts a trigonal monopyramidal configuration, whereas the latter has a strong affinity for PF6- and SbF6- as non-coordinating anions. Unsymmetrical PNP-pincer-type phosphaalkene complexes of Ir(I) bearing a dearomatized pyridine unit instantly cleave the N-H bond of NH3 and the C-H bond of MeCN at room temperature. The dearomatized iridium complexes catalyze the dehydrative coupling of amines with alcohols to afford N-alkylated amines and imines in high yields.
